Unique wood cabins tucked in a rainforest atmosphere. Clean, excellent service. Everything was set up awaiting our arrival, down to the table being set, snacks put out. We stayed a single night here to get an early start on Volcano National Park, which is minutes away.

Stayed in the Mauna Kea lodge. No TV, no Radio but a good DVD collection. The lodge is located in the rain forest so it is wet. We were there for 3 days and every day it rained. But, the fresh breakfast left in our fridge and the fresh ground Kona coffee every morning really made up for it. Last... More

If you want to get away for a day or (better) two from the beaches into another world, this is the place. You will be in another world, close to the National park to go for a short trip to see the lava glow at night, yet reside in the rain forest that deserves its name. The Lodge is everything... More

If you like to wake up and be at one with nature, surrounded by lush greenery, in a charming small B&B style lodge, then I highly recommend staying here! It's close to Volcano National Park, and the staff is very helpful and accommodating. Our table was set each morning in our room, and the breakfast food was prepared for us... More

Here visiting Hawaii Volcanoes National Park we wanted a place to stay close to the park that was also private and reflecting the rainforest atmosphere. The Hale Kilauea room was perfect, with three sided glass walls looking into the forest, hot tub a few steps away and feeling totally secluded. Our host, Meaghan, was friendly and welcoming, orienting us to... More

We checked in after staying at Disney World for a few days and Disneyland for a couple nights. Volcano Village Lodge was such a quiet place after coming from those Disney resorts. We arrived a little later after check in time, but our names were on the white board with a lovely welcome note. We heading to our room to... More

This place is a wonderful hidden gem on the island. It is every bit the peaceful, romantic, little slice of tropical heaven we needed to get away from the big city. I would recommend this to anyone. Don't stay here is your definition of vacation is watching cable tv. Even though we didn't get a chance to use it, there... More

We had booked a week on the other side of the island but we knew that we wanted to see the volcano at night. So I booked one night at Volcano Village. We drove the saddle road over and arrived in time for lunch and to see some of the park. Checked into our lovely bungalow surrounded by lush vegetation... More

Aloha Kathy, Mahalo for writing a review! We encourage our guests to let us know if something isn't right. We wish we had known that the memory foam was not your cup of tea. Our memory foam toppers are removable. We would have removed it and replaced the pillows with non-memory foam. Our rooms are also stocked with extra pillows... More

We loved this place! There are only five units and each is very private, yet with lots of glass looking out to the surrounding rain forest. There are blinds for even more privacy. The tree ferns made it look like Jurassic Park! The rich wood throughout the place gave it a very warm and inviting feel. It was so quiet... More

Aloha sttdiver, We appreciate you taking the time to write about your experience. Our future guests will certainly appreciate your feedback. We just wanted to comment on the breakfast. Our fruit plate consists of Hawaii-grown melons, pineapple, papaya, or other local tropical fruits. While some of the melons we serve are similar to what you would find in the Mainland,... More

Very intimate quiet and beautiful wood bungalows largely opening on the rain forest. It looks you are sleeping in a outside bed in the middle of giant ferns of the rain forest! And the service is great: You find always fruits, quiches in the room when you come back from visits in the National Park. The last day my friend had to... More
