We stayed in a corner room overlooking the fern forest which was lovely and just steps away from a hot tub which we also enjoyed. The breakfast was papaya filled with yogurt, banana and almonds along with banana bread and coffee with all the fixings. Although it was located about a mile away at the main office it was very nice. The room had a refrigerator, microwave, toaster as well as some silverware and plates , etc which was nice. The reason for a 4 star rather than a 5 star review was the queen bed which had old thin sheets covering a very cheap and crinkly plastic mattress cover with nothing in between. It did not make for restful sleep.

We have stayed here each time we’ve visited the last 15 years. No more. The quality has gone down. Hot tub was broken, out of yogurt for their famous papaya boats, and plastic underneath the bed sheets made me feel like I was 2 years old. We stayed in one of the outlying buildings, cheaply constructed and noisy from other tenants. You can do better elsewhere.

Stayed in the adjacent annex and felt like I was right in the middle of a rainforest. Well, actually, it is a rainforest. Small room but good enough for one person for one night. Nice little breakfast. Rained hard most of time I was there but I was comfortable in my room the little I was there. Great location for access to the park. Room and common areas very clean. Common area very nicely furnished.

Walked in, walked out, returned to Kona. Stayed less than 10 minutes after a two hour drive from Kona. Awful. Caldera Room also known as the Penthouse is a joke. Linens likely came from a thrift store. One bathroom downstairs for up to eight persons, forget it. Dormitory like bedroom was worse than anything in college. Misleading advertising. Complete waste of time.

Quirky hotel very close to volcano park. It’s a little older but well cared for by its helpful staff. Wonderful fresh breakfast is included. My favorite bonus was the hot tub in the forest. My husband and I enjoyed relaxing in it after a day of hiking in the park. Very close to several dinner options as well. Cant beat the price for what you get here.
