My husband and I planned an impromptu trip to the volcano national park and were lucky to find this B&B as they were almost completely booked. I think the pictures do not do the place justice. It is not only beautiful but clean, quiet and it feels like home. Robert was waiting for us when we arrived and welcomed us to our room. The room had a king and queen bed with 2 bathrooms, so perfect for our family of 4. The room was squeaky clean, beds soooo soft and comfortable and we were able to fall asleep listening to birds chirping. Robert had breakfast ready for us at 8 and it was delicious! Even our kids could not have enough of everything he offered. We only stayed for 1 night but were very pleased with our stay and will highly recommend. It was a great experience. Also, only 5 minute drive from the entrance to the park.

B & B is really cute. We spent 2 nights in January 2020. Room was spacious (“garden room”), a little unusual a sink is in a room, not in bathroom. Fridge and microwave in a room. Common areas are a kitchen with everything possible you allowed to use and large living/dining room, where breakfast is served at 8a in the morning. We can enter the room either from main entrance through living room or what was more convenient by separate entrance from terrace. Owners and lady served breakfast were very nice. Common areas are nicely decorated and garden is pleasant.

We had an excellent stay here for 2 nights. Robert was very sweet and made us breakfast (delicious papaya, banana, and fresh lemon juice) and made us feel right at home. The room was super clean and very spacious with a fridge and nice patio. The bed was comfortable, and there was a heater which was nice for the chilly evenings! The common area was spacious with lovey big windows and a fireplace. The location was perfect, it felt secluded and quiet while being close to the entrance of VNP. Thanks for a great stay!

We stayed at the Aloha Junction B&B for a couple of nights in late March 2021. The location is very convenient if you're visiting Volcanoes NP on the Big Island. Both Robert and Sue were very helpful and hospitable before and during our stay. Our room was clean with adequate toiletries, towels and blankets. The one negative about our room was that the bathroom was really small, but since we were only there for 2 days, it wasn't a big deal for us. Breakfast was fantastic both days - farm-fresh eggs, sausages, toast, coffee, juice, cereal/milk, pancakes and local fruits. Robert is a great cook!

My one item of feedback for the hosts is to leave politics and race out of the conversation with visitors. On a couple of occasions, Robert openly stated his dislike for Asians and his perception of their negative impact on the Islands. I felt that some of his comments were borderline racist and made for a very uncomfortable conversation as I kept trying to steer the discussion to other neutral topics. It was also clear that they did not believe in Covid safety protocols such as masks (they explicitly told us when we checked in), which led to some discomfort for us around some of the other guests staying there.

We didn't let that ruin our vacation (had we been staying longer, we might have considered other options), but I would probably not consider staying with them again.

We enjoyed three nights' hospitality at this little (four room/suite) BnB in Volcano. The accommodation is anchored by a very large, very comfy living / dining area in a Hawaiian home that dates to 1926. A communal kitchen with all the "trimmings" is available to guests, if you promise to clean up after yourself ;). A cheerful Robert arranges a lovely breakfast each morning (during our stay it wad papaya, pineapple, pancakes and sausage -- with cereal also available). The coffee is almost endless and is very good!

The morning I was heading south on Island, I checked to see if the b&b had space available. All I needed was 1 night to head down and watch the sunset and volcano at night. Thankfully they had 1 room available that night.

As soon as I booked my room I received a text with all the check in information, directions to the b&b and a contact number for Robert, the owner/operator. He also asked that I give him a rough estimate of when I would be arriving.

When I arrived, Robert was standing at the stairs waiting to greet me. He was kind and welcoming. He showed me thru the house and where my room was. It was nice that each room has a board on the door with the guests name on it. Each room has their own keys. My room was large with its own little kitchenette and bathroom and access to a lovely balcony overlooking their yard. The bed was a king size bed and had plenty of bedding to keep me warm after a cold and drizzly night in the volcano national park. The house was quiet (even tho it was full with guests) and I felt very safe being there, even as a single female.

In the morning Robert made a nice breakfast of 1/2 a papaya with a few banana slices, toast, sausages and eggs fresh from their chickens.

It was exactly what I needed for the night. I was so pleased with the location and service that I was hoping to return while on island but it was fully booked!

Absolutely terrible experience. My family and I were traveling over the holidays and had this place booked. We showed up to the place the night of the check in and were told that we never had a reservation on file. I showed them the confirmation email that I had with proof, and they noted there was a double booking and they do see me in the system but don't have a confirmation on file so they didn't have a room for us to stay. Afterwards, it was outrageous that they thought about giving us an alternative room that we originally didn't book for, and charge us a completely new rate for much more than what I had reserved. This is not to mention they were also not apologetic at all for the inconvenience nor did they hold them themselves accountable for what had happened to us as travelers. Imagine we're already tired from traveling and we show up here and they tell us that only do we not have a place to stay (even though we had a reservation), but they were going to charge us more for a room that was not as nice and very cold! Even after I got Priceline involved in order to get them to honor the original price(the original source I booked from), the Priceline customer service also acknowledged they were difficult to work with. I felt like the hosts wasted a precious couple hours of our time, especially during the holidays, which was very unpleasant. Please stay away from them if you want smooth travels with decent service!

Home cooked breakfast was bountiful and delicious. Robert even prepared breakfast for us early on the day of departure as we had to leave the property prior to 8 AM! Location is just minutes away from Volcanoes National Park making it easy to explore during the day, get a bit to eat for dinner and then go back to the park for night time viewing of the lava. Room was larger than expected and came appointed with everything you might need including a microwave, small refrigerator, coffee/tea as well as a few extras like mouthwash. Additionally in the kitchen area there were snacks like popcorn available for late night munching.

This was our third stay at Aloha Junction, but the previous stay was perhaps 12 years ago. I was amazed at how well maintained the property is with all that has gone on in the past few years (volcanic eruptions closing the park, COVID). I'm also amazed that there are still actual Bed and BREAKFASTS around. The place is quiet, peaceful, restful, with lush gardens teeming with chickens (farm-fresh eggs for breakfast) and a curious goose. The rooms are charming. I can tell that Robert and Sue have never stopped maintaining and improving the property. Everything is modern and in excellent condition. I loved that there are USB ports in every nook and cranny, that outlets are easy to reach (no crawling under beds to plug something in), that our room had THREE folding luggage racks instead of the usual one. It is a three minute drive to the National Park. There's a great pizza place and a general store at one end of the driveway.. Breakfasts were thoughtfully prepared, and we really enjoyed sharing a table with other travelers. Do yourself a favor and stay here. Places like this are becoming harder and harder to find. Thanks to Robert and Sue for their attention to detail!

Conveniently located within a five-minute drive from Kilauea National Park. The room was clean and well kept, with a private entrance through the veranda, or public one through the dining area. A simple but filling breakfast is served every day of your stay, if you opt for it (it’s extra). There is a small refrigerator/freezer in your room if you want your own breakfast. The kitchen is open for guests to use in the evening. The Ohelo Cafe is a short walk away, along with a convenience store. Parking on site. There are only five rooms, making it a quiet place to rest. There is free WiFi.
Great place, highly recommended!

Aloha Carol, yes we have large guest rooms which include kitchenettes. We provide a gift basket with a couple hard boiled eggs, bagel, cream cheese, and assortment of coffee and teas. If I may offer a suggestion though 2-3 nights may be sufficient for you to see the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The Big Island is huge and you may want to explore other sides of the island too.

Hi can I know it is still open during this volcano eruption period?
Answer from AlohaJunction
Volcano, Hawaii3 contributions
Yes, the Aloha Junction is still open for business as usual as are most restaurants & stores in the area. The although the Volcanoes National Park is closed the County is planning to open up a viewing area for the active lava area about 2 miles down slope. There is a washer and dryer laundrette behind the Thai-Thai Restaurant. There is no need for air conditioning at 4000' elevation. There is optional electrically heated beds though if you prefer. We advise bringing a sweater or light jacket for chilly nights.

is there a washer and dryer?
Answer from AlohaJunction
Volcano, Hawaii3 contributions
Sorry, because we're on water catchment we have to conserve the water for our own cleaning needs. Sometimes when the rain is really coming down we will allow private washes, but for the most part we just recommend you go down one block to the wassherette and do your laundry down there. The plus side is there's also a restuarant, bar and man things that might interest travelrs looking for sourveniers.

No we do not need air conditioning b/c daytime temperatures only go up to 70-80 degrees in the daytime and between 50-60 degrees at night.
