Crater Rim Cabin is off the beaten path, cozy & secluded with tropical garden views from every window; all the comforts of home, and loved the decor. Less than a 10 minute drive to Volcano Nat'l Park entrance. Owners Barry and Jim were very responsive from our initial contact through the time we left after our 3 night stay. We... More

This is a jewel! An awesome completely equipped cabin, decked out in true Arts and Crafts decor, seculded at the craters rim. We stayed 3 nights and it was great. Clean and problem free and very comfortable for a few nights in Volcano HI. Our hosts went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. This was true hospitality and... More

My family stayed at the Crater Rim Cabin during our recent visit to the Big Island. It was a great experience for everyone. The cabin is charming, cozy, and clean. You can tell the owner has taken good care of it and that shows. For us it was a home away from home. We will not hesitate to stay in... More

We had a wonderful stay at the Crater Rim Cabin. This is a very clean, well maintained and very well furnished cabin, located 2min from the entrance of the Volcano NP. We were welcomed by Barry, who showed us the place and gave us great tips to discover the park. The location is real advantage: you can go back easily... More

We cannot say enough good things about crater rim cabin. Our stay was perfect from start to finish. From the excellent previsit directions and site seeing suggestions to the warm welcome. The cabin is perfect size, with living room, kitchen, and bedroom. Barry and Jim keep it in immaculate condition, and stocked it with everything a visitor might need. Enough... More

We spent 3 nights in this extremely comfortable and fully equipped cabin. Barry & Jim were extraordinarily welcoming. The setting was beautiful and private. The location was just about 5 minutes to Volcano National Park, which was perfect for us. We couldn't ask for more.

We were so impressed with our stay at Crater Rim Cabin. Firstly, the location is unbeatable. The cabin is a 5 minute drive from Volcano National Park so we could easily visit the volcanoes whenever we wanted while other visitors had to drive all the way back to Kona or Hilo. The cabin itself is the most well equipped accommodation... More

We stayed here for two nights while circumnavigating the Island of Hawaii. Upon arrival, we had a lovely welcoming sign. The gardens are exquisite and wild, and cabin is cozy with lovely linens, towels and 1930's style wooden planks. Wonderful bedding with mattress warmer because the weather there is cool at night. Great instant fireplace to warm the cabin and... More

Thank you for the great review! People are surprised when they see electric warming blankets in Hawaii. Our chilly nights at 1235 meters elevation (4050 feet) makes them just the ticket for a comfy nights sleep. The bananas are a variety called Apple Bananas, and they are grown on the Big Island. They taste bright and sweet, compared to the... More

JoAnn & Sarah - Thank you for such a wonderful and detailed review. I went to see Halemaumau Crater yesterday, midday. I was surprised to be able to see spattering orange molten lava from the overlook at Jaggar Museum. The lava lake had risen to a level of only 17 meters below the rim. This allowed a direct view of... More
