We loved this B&B and the Volcanoes National Park. We were lucky enough to see a lava flow and did a lot of hiking. Don't miss the Thurston Lava tube.

The cottage welcomed us with a musty smell, a dehumidifier running at the highest setting and open windows, It had been pouring rain as it often does in a rain forest and it was pretty cold as the location is also high atop a mountain, so the room was extremely damp and also cold. Had someone closed the window and...

Secluded on a lovely and very quiet road, this beautiful set of cottages along with the main house are situated in a lovely wooded and very green oasis. All the cottages are unique and offer lots of privacy for anyone staying either in a cottage or the main house. They have been decorated with care and the beds are superb....

We stayed 2 nights in Cottage 44. (I forgot to ask why that name!) The owner Michael was very nice and accommodating. He started right off giving us a map of where to eat and go in the area. He has an older cat Dixon, who my wife fell in love with. The cottage we stayed in was clean, nice...

Just returned from Big Island vacation and 2 night stay at Hale Ohia. Adorable place, very comfortable. Only complaint would be that bathroom door didn't shut all the way. Would love to visit again!

We stayed in "Cottage 44" Feb. 14 and 15, 2010. We paid $212.47 per night (tax is included in that figure). Cottage 44 consists of an old wood water tank, which is your bedroom, to which has been added a sitting room and bathroom. There is also a counter with a small refrigerator under it, and a small microwave on...

We have stayed at many B&B's before. If you are looking for a hot breakfast forget it! Banana bread is put in your room along with a few bananas and sliced papaya in the frig. The next day same thing-banana bread again. The cottage (basically one room0, is tiny and needs a good housecleaning. ( spider webs on ceiling over...

We recently spent one night at the Hale Ohia Cottages after spending the day in Volcanoes National Park. We really enjoyed our cottage and the whole property. It was very convenient having our breakfast in the room and really loved the freshly baked bread and fresh fruit! The cottage was rustic, but sophisticated and we really had a great experience....

I have stayed at Hale Ohia Cottages many times in the past. My husband and I spent time on our honeymoon there and continue to go back. The owner, Mike, is very helpful and always around. He personally makes sure each time we visit is better than the last. On this visit, he was on vacation but had very competent...
