Photoshopped pictures lead one to believe that this run down, poorly managed and even more poorly maintained dump is one of the Big Islands "resorts". Do not wait to get there to find out that you have been totally misled by their web site. This place is has a history of thefts and break-ins by the local teens and twenty... More

The web page and phone calls make this place sound as if on the up and up, but that is where the positive ends. The maintenance and upkeep leave very much to be desired. The alternate lifestyle partner/owners Shaun and Matthew welcome your money and that is about it. In fact, they are not even zoned as a Hotel, or... More

I almost booked their Bamboo Cottage for my family but I'm happy I did not. I received a price quote from them where they charged the hotel tax on the cleaning fee. I have never been charged tax on the cleaning fee at other condo types of places I've rented before. Their hotel tax was also almost one whole percent... More

We rented the Pineapple and Bamboo cottages for a week for two families. On the outside, the place looks as beautiful as on the photos, and the falls and the stream running by the cottages are great. The cottages, though are poorly-maintained. Two of the beds in the pineapple cottage were a little damp and musty, since they were laid... More

If you like a rustic, Hawaiian folksy feel, the Bamboo Cottage at the Falls at Kawainui is the place for you. Located by Onomea Bay, one of the most beautiful spots on the Big Island, the grounds and adjacent stream and waterfalls are very well-maintained. There are fruit trees and trails on the property. The geckos come out at night... More

We traveled with our 5 year old son and he had a blast (we all did). We all swam in the river, he loved Petuna the pig and the dogs. We walked around the grounds a lot looking at all the different fruit trees and flowers and played football on the expansive lawn (perfect for an active 5 year old!).... More

Matthew was very accommodating with every request we made. He always had a smile on his face and just seemed to love his work. And it showed in his property. It was very well maintained and stunning. Inside and out. We hiked and swam, picked flowers and cracked open coconuts, ate the local fruits, barbequed, partied. He remained available to... More
