I came here with my wife and daughter. It was quite the gem. Irene was very informative about the area. I only wish we had a few more days to stay there. So much more to see. The grounds are just absolutely gorgeous. The breakfast was simple and mostly all from the property. The frogs at night made me sleep...

Delightful. Irena was charming and all was wonderful. Especially liked the cats and chickens who mingled with us on the grounds. Breakfast was made from fresh eggs from the chicks and accompanied by local fruits and juices and home made bread. Lovely!

This place is a gem- in a plantation style house with clean whitewashed rooms, nice patio overlooking a gorgeous property of jungle and Macadamia trees. Irene makes you feel right at home and it's a great spot to explore the Puna Region.

Looking for a typical Hawaii luxury hotel with manicured lawns and $25 breakfasts? Then avoid the Lava Tree Tropic Inn and leave it for us who want to enjoy real Hawaii. Wonderfully located in the tropical countryside of the Puna region of the Big Island, Lava Tree Tropic Inn features beautiful gardens, fruit trees and mac nut trees all lovingly...

We wanted to explore the Puna region since we had not been to that area on previous visits. This was the perfect place to stay to explore the area - convenient to Hilo, Mauna Kea, lava flows, snorkeling, hot pools, and charming backroads. Irene is a wonderful host - great cook, tour guide, and straightforward buisness woman. Enjoy the gorgeous...

Our choice of staying at the Lava Tree Inn, was a perfect one. We wanted a safe, clean, convenient accommodation to explore the Puna area of Hawaii....and we got it. We were surrounded by tropical foilage and fruit bearing trees. It is the perfect place to stay if you plan to explore the active lava flows on the island. (take...

the Puna region of the Big Island is considered laid-back and slightly quirky with "real" people. Lava Tree Tropic Inn is a perfect reflection of this. The owner, Irene, is genuine, friendly, and has embraced her Hawaii with enthusiasm. The Inn is in the countryside with beautiful gardens and fruit trees of all types. Cats and chickens roam freely and...

Hostess, Irene, is very nice... Home is well maintained. Irene took us to the hot pools in the morning which was very nice. Her breakfast was absolutely outstanding and she is a very gracious hostess, as other reviewers have mentioned. However, since I rely on web site reviews to be honest in order to make decisions on where I will...

The roosters were a problem for the last few weeks and we were working on relocating them (not fast enough for your sake, :D), but since this report, they have been removed. I have had the privilege of hosting guests here for almost nine years, and in all that time have never put anything but freshly cleaned linens on every...

We booked at the last minute for the Lava Tree Tropic Inn and the Inns owner, Irene, accommodated us with ease. The home is very nice and set among lovely gardens of flowering tropical plants and fruit trees. During our stay the avocados were plentiful. The rooms were basic but comfortable. Bathrooms are shared and right across the hallway, but...

Lava Tree Tropic Inn is one of those obscure gems that you run across when traveling. It is located on 5 lush acres adjacent to Lava Tree State Park in the heart of Puna, an area as exotic as it sounds. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The breakfasts of homemade bread and local tropical fruit were incredible. in...
