Been here twice in the past 8 months and what a great place. Hidden behind Lava Tree State Park which allows for a quiet paradise. Great tropical foil age, fruit trees galore and an all natural breakfast prepared by Irene, the owner which is a surprise each morning as you sit on the veranda and watch the free range chickens... The owner and operator, Irene, was fantastic! Excellent food and hospitality. Good location right by Lava Tree Park. Irene was very accommodating for our late arrival. If you do not mind a rooster not knowing what time it is, removing your shoes to protect the beautiful wood floors and a very uneven driveway-this place is for you! We had a... More

This is a difficult review to write, simply because there were a broadly equal number of good points to development areas. Let me begin by saying that the photos on the website bear little resemblance to the inn. To say that they have been "beautified" would be an understatement. Yet that said, the inn had a huge amount of character... More

We had a lovely stay at the Inn and Irene was a lovely hostess. We loved the house, the gorgeous wood floors and the wonderful balcony bedroom. We truly felt as though we were in a tropical jungle with wonderful, comfortable amenities. If you like the sounds of the frogs, tropical birds and sights of the orchards, African Tulip Tree... We were there one week ago and I think words cannot describe the beauty!!! The B&B is located in the middle of a tropic garden , surrounded by flowers and Palm trees, and in the evening you can hear the birds' chirping!!! I regret I didn't spend one more week! The house is comfortable and clean and you can breathe... More

We spend 10 days at the beautiful place. Irene took care in a really personal and very nice way. The huge garden, the nice and clean rooms were perfect for us. We enjoyed the special breakfast with fruits from the garden, the fresh macademia nuts, the beautiful surrounding of this highly recommended BnB lets us come back for sure.

Our stay here was amazing, truly a five star experience. That said, let me tell you what the Lava Tree is NOT- it is NOT a fancy resort catering to mainland tourists who expect bellhops and a ritzy uptown vibe. If that's what you're into, go to Waikiki. What it IS - a beautifully built and maintained rural Hawaiian home... More

The Lava Tree Tropic Inn was a totally unexpected and unique place! Comfortable & clean room, beautiful grounds and delicious breakfast. Owner Irene is also a unique, warm and friendly person. We are truly sorry that we don't live closer. We would probably become good friends. PS - It's not easy to find so be sure to get explicit directions.... More

It was VERY beautiful and relaxing! Fresh fruit from the property for breakfast and the owner is a very nice/outgoing lady. She is very helpful when planning things to do and is very knowledgeable about the island. The property is a little hard to get to but VERY worth it!! I'll be back
