We have not stayed at the Colony Resort, but have played the golf course a couple of times. The first time we played it was about 20 years ago, and we were shocked then to find the course appearing basically abandoned. The clubhouse was closed and appeared to have been damaged at sometime. If you hunted around, you came across...

We initially booked #49-a nice remodeled upper unit-and were so impressed with this location that we booked #58 (an even nicer 2 bedroom!) for our last week on the island rather than going back to crazy Kona! Every time we snorkeled at beautiful black sand beach-a nice 5 minute walk-we saw MANY green turtles feeding. Amazing to watch! Lots of...

Colony 1 at Sea Mountain provided a comfortable stay during our bicycle trip around the Big Island. The condos there are spacious and a bit luxurious. Kitchens are well equipped and stocked with the basic tools. (There are no restaurants within a moderate biking distance, so come prepared with some groceries.) The community pool and especially the hot tub were...

We loved #49 Black Sand Beach Condo (owned by Selena). Our five nights there were exactly right for us. While we didn't use the beach for sun bathing, we did enjoy the pool. View from the pool was beautiful, views from the balcony beautiful as well. The kitchen is updated, the washer/dryer appears new, bathroom was spacious. Wifi, tv worked...

My Wife and I stayed at #56 Bruce's place and lived the view, the condo was set up perfectly and was quite comfortable. We were concerned about the bedroom being downstairs and out of the wind flow. But it was very comfortable and a bit chilly at times. The condo is layed out wonderfully as well and you just cannot...

The staff was friendly and accommodating. The grounds were clean and well maintained. The location is rural and out away from the big city which provides some quiet enjoyment of the big island. The resort is a short walk to the black sand beach were I always enjoy see the sea turtles.

If you want to be away from it all, this is a great place to go. Peaceful and quiet. It is a small resort condo complex with very little around it. Black sand beach is a 10 minute walk, Lava beaches are everywhere, and Kilauea park is 30 minutes away. Jon and his wife do a great job managing the...

Seriously, this place is remote. It takes 1.5 ish hours to get to either Hilo or Kona proper from here. If you are looking for quiet, relaxing, friendly and off the beaten path this is the place for you. The condos are nice and the staff very helpful. If you are looking for shopping and hustle and fast paced hustle...

We stayed in a 2 bedroom townhouse. Super spacious accommodations. The units are away from the water so there is little in the way of water view or stepping onto the beach from your lanai but what you do get is amazing peaceful solitude. It was exactly what I needed at exactly the right time. It's a bit of an...

Great place to stay, a bit remote, but soooo beautiful. The unit was beautiful, spacious and amazing view of the Volcano's and ocean. Black Sand beach was an easy walk, a beautiful beach for swimming relaxing and watching the sea turtles. Gorgeous sunrise. They were so nice an friendly and helpful at the resort, you do need to bring food,...
