Desperately wish I could write a nice review but unfortunately I paid upfront £350 for tours which I never received. This was promised to me by owner Kenny Wadman and then he vanished and never replied to my numerous attempts to contact him. I thought I was supporting the Eco hostel by paying upfront but really I was being ripped... More

The best 9 months of my life . I arrived at eco hostel Hawaii for a 2 month vacation that turned into a full time life on the big island. Upon my arrival I was greeted with open arms and wonderful loving vibes. The property was absolutely stunning, as was the staff. I participated in the volunteer program which taught... More

This is a good choice for a place to stay while you visit the Big Island. Good location near the heart of Puna. The land is very peaceful and serene. Beautiful living quarters that feel very in tune with the surroundings. Great company to share with as well, travelers and locals alike. Really stellar community space, comfy and welcoming. Nice... I was there for a month, it was a great place to stay while I toured the island. Saw some beaches, went cliff jumping. The Hostel was great, I had my own "hal-ley" for sleeping and keeping my stuff but the main area had water, power, and some beautiful vegetation where I picked my own fruit and at night I... More

Transitioning to Big Island life was no trouble especially living alongside the Ecohostel staff on their lush jungle oasis. Hearing coqui frogs lull you to sleep was one of the simplest pleasures during my stay at the hostel. Everything is high vibes, super conscious and forward-thinking. It was incredible to be immersed in such sustainable practices. Everyone was so open-minded... More

Eco Hostel Hawaii was home for me for more than a month, my first month, on the Big Island. It gave me a great location to start my travel from, great friends working alongside me who were accepting and enthusiastic on every level, and some of the best times of my life every night (and day). The jungle location is... More
