We stayed 4 nights during the first week of Feb. We stayed in the Bamboo room. It was very comfortable. A microwave and small refrigerator are included. Mary, the host was very informative about local dining establishments and sightseeing spots. The breakfasts she provided were excellent. It was very relaxing to eat breakfast on the lanai with the ocean view and see the sun rise. The location is in a residential neighborhood but it is close to a major road that makes it easy to get to Hilo or the Volcanoes National Park. The only difficulty we had was returning to the B & B at night because there no street lights and a rolling road. However, we found an alternate route which was easier to drive. Overall, we would recommend this B & B to everyone and we would stay there again.
We stayed in the Ohana cottage, and it was comfortably appointed and spacious. Plenty of room for a family or two couples. Breakfasts were delicious, coffee was abundant, and the views from the large breakfast lanai are lovely. We didn't use the pool or our cottage lanai (which lacks views), but the pool was well maintained and nicely located at the foot of the breakfast lanai. Bring earplugs if the sound of chirping frogs will bother you at night. The cottage does not have A/C, so you'll probably want to leave your windows open for airflow. The rooms have ceiling fans which help keep air moving, even when the winds die down as they did during our stay. All in all, a very good value, lovely residential setting close to the shorefront (high on a cliff - not a beach area), convenient for exploring the Puna area.…
We stayed for two nights there during our 25th anniversary vacation. Ths host was very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. We had breakfast outside on the bacony with the view on the ocean. The host helped us with potential trips and things to visit during our stay.
Excellent breakfast with everyday changing menu. Fresh local fruits. Mary, the host is very helpful and takes care of her guests. The bathroom in the bamboo room is really special and very lovely. The owner really crated a unique experience crating this room. We really liked the stay in this bed & breakfast.
My brother and I came to visit my father. The cottage we stayed in had two bedrooms, kitchen, sofa living space and a large patio. We really appreciated the quiet location away from hustle of tourists and Hilo city. There are frogs at night of course as there are everywhere on the island. The breakfasts by Mary were just what we needed after long days visiting my father and helping him get settled. We would highly recommend this location! Beds were very comfortable.
