We had a fabulous visit with Audrey at her wonderful home. The house is situated in a peaceful, serene, clean and welcoming atmosphere -- and the sunsets are spectacular! We especially enjoyed our homemade breakfast each morning. The fruit plates were so delicious (mango, pineapple, lychee, peaches, melons, blueberries, strawberries!) , it was the perfect way to start our morning... More

Four days of bliss---very quiet, all to ourselves, good breakfasts, comfortable room with optional AC, great view, great location ----all adds up to a fabulous stay. Loved coming home from the beach to this place. What a view--with a table and chairs set up outside for meals and relaxing in the shade. And if you have the notion, there is... More

We found this B&B by accident and are so happy we did. We had some lovely days at Audrey's place; loved the daily fruit plate, the pool, the breeze and the safety of the place. Audrey is such a sweet person. The beaches around are lovely and the equipment provided pretty nice. We would come back straight away! You need... More

Stumbled upon this place after finding out the B&B I had planned on was booked. Glad I did! This is a house with an elevated view overlooking the Pacific. Just awesome. The owners house is across the pool from a separate house with 2 bedrooms/2 baths. Peaceful place to sit on the lanai and watch the ocean. We stayed for... More

When we found Makai Hale on line we looked at each other and said "This looks too good to be true--can it be this good?" It was!! After the hustle and crush of Oahu--Makai Hale was an oasis of calm and comfort. Audrey and Jerry had the vision and the talent to create a wonderful getaway. Her breakfasts are as... More

My wife and I stayed at this BNB for four nights and after the first day we wished we had booked this place for four more. Location: It is great, especially for the beaches and ocean view. The best two beaches we visited were #1 Mauna Kea (great for swimming and snorkeling, just get there 8am) and #2 Hapuna (15... More

My husband and I stayed at Makai Hale Bed and Breakfast for 2 nights on our honeymoon. We couldn't have been happier with our stay! The place is absolutely stunning...located on a big hill overlooking the ocean. The unit we stayed in was spotless and comfortable. The bed was super comfortable, large bathroom, beautiful patio overlooking the beautiful scenery, pool,... More

We were fortunate to have found and spent time at Makai Hale this past April. It is a wonderful place to stay for some quiet or as a base to explore the island. We managed to fit in a lot of both! The best thing about the place is Audrey and level of service she provides. That's saying a lot... More

We stayed at Makai Hale for the last few nights of our vacation in Hawaii in August 2014, and boy, had we saved the best until last. I spent ages hunting for the perfect place to finish our trip in style - nice views, own pool, high up (daughter freaked by thought of midnight tsunamis!) and away from the tourist... More

The B&B Makai Hale is ideally located to explore the northern and western part of Big Island like Pololu and Waipi’o Valley and beautiful Hapuna and Makalawena Beach. Audrey is a lovely host and runs this place with great passion. She provided us with an excellent self made breakfast which was different each day but always included tropical fruits and... More
