We couldn’t have found a more thoughtful and lovely b&b host in Jacqueline. The home itself is beautiful (we stayed in the Chinese room for two nights), with thoughtful touches like tea, good books, brownies when we arrived, and ear plugs if you’re unused to sounds of nature at night. I actually really enjoyed the frogs and kept our windows open the entire stay!! And definitely don’t leave without buying one of Jacqueline’s beautiful homemade Christmas ornaments. Jacqueline provided great recommendations around food and activities—we would have missed the really cute mid week market in Waimea if she hadn’t suggested it!!

Aloha, Thank you so much it was great having you stay with us. I am glad you enjoyed our tree frogs they are now a part of our evening sounds. Thank you for appreciating all of the little touches I try to provide my guests. It is always nice to have great feedback. At 34 years hosting guests at Waipio Wayside B&B I still love what I do and being able to share my property with others. Stay safe. Jacqueline

Waipio Wayside B&B is just what a B&B ought to be: beautiful, convenient, impeccably clean, set in a historic building, and best of all, run by a knowledgeable, friendly and congenial host. We even got into a last-minute dinner reservation at a top restaurant in town by dropping her name! The other guests were also very interesting people. Waipio Valley was like the Garden of Eden, not to be missed, and we also enjoyed the nearby towns of Honokaa and Waimea. We'd come back in a heartbeat! The only downside for us were the constantly croaking coqui frogs at night, but the thoughtfully provided earplugs did help.

As we start our 34th year of offering B&B it is the guests that make our business what it is. It was great to have you stay with us and you would be most welcome to stay again if you return to our part of paradise. Stay safe and have a great fall season. Jacqueline

My 16 yr old daughter & I stayed in the Birds Eye room at the end of an action-packed vacation. It was a lovely way to slow down & absorb the Hamakua coast & Jacqueline's superb hospitality. We did a horseback ride into te Waipio Valley that was just down the road from the B & B. An asy drive into Honoka'a for restaurants and shopping. I'll try not to repeat info shared in other reviews. Instead, here were some of my favorite experiences with Jacqueline & Sweetie: * chatting with J about retirement investing & good (and bad!) cars :) * the jar of yummy chocolates * the divine goats milk lotion in the bathroom * J's extensive knowledge & experience with the island & her willingness to share recommendations * breakfast! Yum!!!! * the yummy cookies & popovers gifted to us to take on our return flight. Thank you so much! * the level of COVID-19 safety practiced - impressive * under the gazebo was dry even in the rain You should really just stay here and see for yourself. * the books - tons of books!!

Jacqueline and Sweety were the most marvelous hosts! Jacqueline's immaculate bed and breakfast is filled with beauty and warmth. Our spacious room was was outfitted with a large, comfortable bed, plenty of space for our clothes, and direct access to the beautiful back yard. The bathroom was well supplied, and hot water was abundant. Jacqueline provides a mini fridge in the dining area for her guests. She serves a delicious breakfast at 8:am. (Don't sleep in; there's too much to explore!) Sweety is Jacqueline's feline partner in this venture and she is an absolute sweetheart. At 19 years old, she has abundant love to share. Just, please be as gentle toward her as she is to you. Jacqueline is terrifically knowledgeable about the Big Island in general and the Valley, in specific. She will, absolutely, point you toward whatever you need to make your holiday that much more special. Further, she even lent me a cooler to share with my family when we met them for a week in Kona. Truly, above and beyond, I feel as though I have new friends to visit when we're next on Hawaii. Thank you so much, Jacqueline and Sweety!

Aloha Seth and mahalo for all of your kind words. It was really a pleasure to have you two stay with us. Miss Sweety is still showing her age and I do hope to have her for many more months. I really appreciate your concern and help with "kitty" information. I am very happy you enjoyed your stay and look forward to your return. Kind regards, Jacqueline

We took a six-day bike trip around the Big Island and the Waipio Wayside B&B was one of the highlights. We had cycled through a rainstorm just prior to arriving and Jacqueline made us immediately feel comfortable in the house with tea and brownies. The property is situated in a beautiful part of the Big Island close to the Waipio Valley and Honoka'a and has a verdant garden with views to the ocean. The breakfasts are delicious and include many fruits that are grown in the garden. Besides being a terrific host, Jacqueline is extremely knowledgable about the area and the local history. We would unequivocally recommend the Waipio Wayside B&B to anybody visiting the northern part of the Big Island.
