This place has 6 star gourmet breakfasts - honestly I don’t think you can overstate how good these are. Soufflés, gourmet sausages homemade jams and scones. Hands down the best food we have eaten on the big island. Plus there is the lovely atmosphere and character of the guesthouse itself and the view and the peace and quiet - suggest you plan your whole holiday around staying at this place. So happy we came here! Thank you to our hosts as well who also made us feel so welcome.

Property's Favorite Review
Start with the immensely knowledgeable and friendly, accommodating owner, Jacqueline. If you ask like she’s got fascinating stories and can tell you about her travels, antique collecting and the fine art of ornament making she’s done for decades - they are exquisite and I wanted half of her personal collection but alas… The surroundings were tropical, lush, with an ocean view from the Chinese room and the deck. If you’re an antique and art lover you’re in luck! Plenty of books to pore over in the evenings on Japan, Hawaii, cooking, gardening. There were immense stands of bamboo, lovely flowers (black anthuriums - who knew there was such a plant?). Close proximity to Waipio Valley, horseback riding, the very old town of Honoka’a, and awesome fresh tropical fruit stands along the roadside - try the apple bananas, you won’t regret it. She makes delicious organic breakfasts from scratch, loved the French toast made with sweet bread. Oh, if you love hot tea, you’ll be in heaven - she has the most delicious variety of uncommon teas incl some from Kyoto(?) Japan that you won’t find here. I think I drank more tea during our stay there than I have in months!

Five stars is simply not enough. This accommodation was one that surprised me and delighted me in every sense of the word. If I had to describe it in one word, that would be bliss. Absolutely every detail was attended to. First, the reservation process was straightforward and simple. Directions and arrival were seamless. But I didn’t expect to find serenity, peace, and such beauty to take in. My room faced the patio, garden, and ocean. I feel asleep to the sounds of nature: tree frogs, birds, and a gentle breeze. Traveling from Ohio beginning at 3:00 AM made for an early evening. But not too early because I spent the afternoon exploring the history town of Honokaa. If you don’t know it, please research it. I strolled through shops, a newly opened Honoka’a chocolate creator, had the best lunch at a food truck, and found my way to the Waipio Wayside Bed and Breakfast. The guest reception is robustly stocked with snacks, tea, coffee, water, and a library of interesting reads. The decor is charming. I woke up to breakfast which blew me away: homemade fresh juice, jams, butters, creams, banana pancakes, and fresh fruit. I don’t want to leave.

Recently, my husband and I stayed at Waipio Wayside Bed & Breakfast. We had stayed there two other times over the years. It was just as amazing as ever, if not even better. It certainly is a very Hawaiian bed & breakfast. Jacqueline, the owner, is an extraordinary lady who makes you feel like family. She goes above and beyond to accommodate you by giving you great ideas of what to do and where to eat on the Big Island. She is truly "one of a kind" and a person we greatly respect. The breakfasts are absolutely delicious and something we look forward to each morning. We definitely have plans to return soon.

We spent two nights at this delightful B &B. The rooms are nicely appointed and very comfortable. Our breakfast was spectacular with delicious fresh fruit, home baked muffins, and egg soufflés. Jacqueline is very knowledgeable about the island. She had several wonderful suggestions for us. We would would definitely stay here again.

The room was stuffy and musty and the bedding, which included a hard old mattress, smelled funky. The fan was noisy. The layout of the room was odd with little space for clothes. The breakfast was good and the staff generally friendly. The grounds and the view were good. I would not stay here again.

Wonderful experience staying at Waipio Wayside B&B. The garden offers a serene retreat from a hectic Hawaiian vacation. Breakfast was the best meal I had on the Big Island and the coffee is superb. My room was cozy, spacious, and comfortable. This is a gem of hospitality and the location couldn't be better: down the street from Waipio Lookout. Highly recommend staying at this delightful B&B.

This was my first bnb experience. Always booked airbnb but never stayed in actual bnb. My experience was really very good. Felt very homely. The house is clean and well kept. Very close to the highway. If you planning to visit Waipio and Ponulu (black sand beach), stay here. The landlord is very helpful and breakfast was very good.
