I stayed for 4 nights in one of the studio apartments (Irene). I had reached out to Megan for accommodation availability and she responded with pictures which made it easier to decide. Due to a last minute change, I arrived later than expected, Megan was kind enough to give me directions to the property. The studio apartment was welcoming with... More

We stayed two nights in the two dragons studio at lotus gardens in Hilo. The studio is just lovely, high ceilings, open and airy, beautifully decorated. It is right in the heart of downtown Hilo, opposite pineapples restaurant (really good food) and a supermarket and just a block back from the bay. It was clean and well equipped, down to... More

Sometimes I think I know a place and I've seen everything that needs to be seen. I've traveled to Hilo many times over the years and I never heard of The Lotus Garden. A friend of mine in Oahu suggested that I look up The Lotus Garden. When she said it was near the Farmer's Market I was a bit... More

Had a four night stay at the main room at the front left. Every day we parked the car directly outside of the bedroom window and ate breakfast at the small hole in the walls nearby. The room was beautiful but the road was directly outside so sometimes the car noise would be a bit of a menace but at... More

We loved staying here! Jasper was very friendly and helpful. We stayed here for three nights. We stayed in the upstairs apartment. It has a gas stovetop, full sized refrigerator and sink. Fully stocked with equipment. Garbage bags, dish rags and soap provided. Shower is downstairs and pretty open, but we didn't feel exposed. Gorgeous flowers and plants everywhere. The... More

We planned a 3 night stay in Hilo for March 2016 and then found the dates were at the start of the Merrie Monarch Festival. After contacting several hotels and inns, all with No Vacancy, I contacted The Lotus Garden as their website showed our dates available. I called to confirm and get details. We spoke on the phone at... More

I stayed here with my wife on our honeymoon. The cottage was clean and well appointed, the owners were very friendly and we had some nice talks. Comfy bed, no airconditioning but fans do the trick. Nice location and conviently located, no hotel parking but plenty of parking spaces nearby. Some great food options too.

We had a great experience at this vacation rental. Meghan and Jasper are really nice folks. The hotel itself is located in the heart of Hilo. A lot of restaurant of great restaurants are accessible by foot. What we liked : - We we're upgraded to a more luxurious accomodation - Feels remote while being in Downtown Hilo - very... More

Just our luck we flew in during a tropical storm. I totally underestimated the amount of rainfall this side of the island gets. Amazingly this property didn't flood. The balinese inspired decor and colors are well done. Orchids and green plants seem to grow everywhere. The place is described accurately. Our main objective for staying 8 nights here was to... Beautiful zen oasis very close to anything you might need. Meghan and Jasper were there to greet us upon arrival and were extremely humble and pleasant. The studio was absolutely gorgeous with particular attention to detail. A very relaxing atmosphere with an exquisite lilipad pond adjacent to the outside shower (yes, hot water) allowing to feel one with nature. What... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Lotus Garden is a tropical delight in the old town of Hilo. With the budget traveler in mind, we have created a serene oasis providing 2 private guest apartments, and 2 plantation cottages. This is an experience of 'old Hawaii.' Our garden is walled on all sides with old trees and a mix of flowers and ferns, making it a place to relax and enjoy the island's slower pace of life. Stepping outside the gates and onto the street, visitors will find lots of great local restaurants and live music venues. The Hilo Farmers Market is just one block away. ... more   less
