Our room was very nice - two queen beds - and overlooked the ocean. The hotel has free parking and the staff was very friendly/accommodating. We were very pleased with the location of the hotel and would not hesitate to stay there again. We were in a room that was remodeled and especially appreciated the sink being outside of where... It was just an overnight stay, we got there late, but I wasn't ready to sleep, my better half was tired from working a double shift and the long drive to Hilo, and since there is a separate bedroom, she got to sleep, while I got my latenight TV and FB fix in before bed. Great Room, some would consider... More

Really good hotel. We even got an upgrade. The view from our room was breathtaking. We saw the most beautiful sunset from our room. The banyan tree garden in front of the hotel looked really pretty. Overall a very comfortable stay.

We had a 6th floor room with a spectacular view of Mauna Kea and Hilo Bay. Coconut island view from the lanai kept us amazed at all the people climbing the pillars and jumping into the ocean. Eventually we got brave enough to walk over there and make the climb and jump. I am 63 years old and it was... More

Having read reviews of all the hotels in Hilo I didn't have high expectations. We had a 'recently renovated Junior Suite' which was quite adequate and spacious. However, my booking clearly stated that it was for two adults and one ten year old and the suite only had a king sized bed and when we checked the sofa it was... More

Had a one bedroom unit with a small kitchenette in living area. It was perfect since on vacation I don't care to be a cook however the kitchen served its purpose for simple convenience of off hours snack meals for growing tween. Great location after a long and late flight in. Literally 10 minutes from airport. The pool was in... More

If you're looking for a Kona side style of resort hotel, the Hilo Hawaiian is not it. You'd see it as shabby and lacking amenities. You probably wouldn't like the restaurant(s) and say the pool is super small. But I kind of like the Hilo Hawaiian for the same reason: it is a kind of testament to the HI of... More

Hotel is nice with open air lobby. Rooms are nice but do not request a roll-away bed, they are horrible...basically you are sleeping on springs!! Restaurant on site and within walking distance to Hilo Bay Café and Ken's House of Pancakes. If you get a bay view room, you can watch the cruise ships arrive in the mornings. If the... More

After much research we decided on this property in Hilo. The good - Big, decent renovated suite on upper floors, beautiful view of Coconut island. Bad - No room service, though multiple restaurants; Understaffed - Never saw a valet, baggage service etc. Front office was indifferent. Be ready for some <frog> croaking noise at night.

This hotel has been recently renovated. The rooms are spacious. The view of the bay is beautiful. It's close to the airport and surrounded by beautiful trees and parkland. I'd definitely rebook if I was in Hilo. On the downside we were surprised to find that there was no safe in our room.
