Spent five nights here and wish it could have been longer. Cheryl is a delightful host, very thoughtful and helpful. My corner room had peaceful views over Hilo Bay, with soothing sounds of the surf and musical chirping of the coqui frogs at night. I have an app on my phone to generate those sounds for sleep, but here they were real.
Everything was absolutely spotless. The house is beautiful, over 100 years old. WiFi was strong, I could stream music and FaceTime my (jealous) mainland friends easily.
Cheryl made breakfast whenever I wanted, which was especially kind given that I tended to eat fairly early. I did not try the “full” breakfast as I am mostly vegetarian, but the bananas and banana bread (from their own property) and French toast were excellent.
There is a refrigerator stocked with beverages, and another in which guests can store their own snacks and takeout.
Will definitely return!

My husband and adult son stayed here for two nights and had a wonderful time. We had the first level ocean front rooms - the view and the noise of the waves couldn't be beat. Breakfast was delicious and cooked when we requested it; snacks, water, umbrellas, and other amenities were available if needed. It was an easy walk to the main shopping district in Hilo, and had good off street parking. Cheryl was a super hostess!

I was only able to stay one night and WOW! There is something magical happening at this place! The proprietor, Cheryl, was so lovely, easygoing and generous. I initially didn't book an oceanview room (as I am on a tight budget), and that was a big mistake! When I saw the oceanview room, my jaw dropped open, and I decided to switch rooms immediately. Cheryl was so kind and upgraded me with no charge!!! I will never forget that kindness, and I had one of the best nights and sleeps of my life!

Please book an oceanview room! Like, this is one of those times in life where you just splurge on the room--you can thank me later!! You are literally looking down at the ocean just outside your window...it's truly majestic! Hearing the waves crash just outside the window while you are laying in bed is one of the best and most memorable experiences I ever had. Truly hypnotic, surprisingly spiritual and very special.

Then you wake up to the best sunrise of your life and head to breakfast where you also stare out the window at the sunrise. My breakfast was just delicious and I was stuffed with fruits, eggs and homemade banana bread.

This is a very special place and the location is fabulous!

Owners greeted us on their expansive front porch with rockers, showed us complimentary drinks and snacks, where to stow contents of our cooler (and blue ice), and then to our lovely room. This grand 1922 home on the water has a few, large, very comfortable rooms. Our room had a cozy twin bed with lighting and lots of comfy pillows for reading, and a good size table and chairs looking out over the bay. King mattress a dream. Breakfast starts with a platter of fruits, followed by a choice of a few fresh cooked entrees. I tried the toasted coconut and chopped macadamia nut pancakes with real maple syrup and bacon, yum!

Hilo area has been somewhat overcome by a very loud, nighttime chirping frog, the coqui, sadly brought over from Puerto Rico. The sound of the waves help overcome it, as did the new windows. It was cool enough to close them and turn on the overhead fan. Very quiet.

We've previously stayed within a few blocks of restaurants at Hilo Bay Hale which is also very nice, but we'll stick with the trade off for a short drive for dinner.

This B&B is housed in a 99-year-old former home on the bay. Breakfast was made to order, delicious and generous (eggs, pancakes, fresh fruit, etc etc). Convenient to all locations. Our room faced the bay with large windows and intoxicating breezes and the sound of waves at night. Cheryl is a wonderful host, and offered lots of helpful tips. The B&B has lots of extras for the main kitchen and beach going. Hilo was a surprise delight for our family (mom, dad, 2 little ones). Beautiful beaches, waterfalls, and warm locals to make friends with while you’re there. I HIGHLY recommend and look forward to staying here again.

Emmett and Cheryl became our dear friends as we chatted over breakfast. They overfed us every morning with all the delicious fruit and made to order breakfast, it was so yummy we simply couldn't resist. The room was spacious and had beautiful antiques and so faithfully kept to the feel of an old house. Sleeping with the windows open and listening to the waves crash was so peaceful. They have tons of stuff for us to use towels, beach stuff, sunscreen. Couldn't think of a better place in Hilo.

With 6 rooms to choose from, I chose the oceanview suite #3 as it was a corner room that seemed to get good light. However, do note you also get the sounds of the coqui frogs from both sides. I believe the middle room may have less coqui frog noise but confirm with the innskeepers or owners before booking.

Being on the east side of the island, you will be able to catch the sunrises right from your room so having an oceanview room was a big plus especially if you end up getting takeout since eateries close much earlier in Hilo.

The breakfast is made to order by one of the innskeepers, sweet Tomomi that is served in an area with just as gorgeous ocean views.

There is a shared fridge with other guests in case you have leftovers or anything perishable which we definitely did. Snacks like granola bars and tea are available all day as well as a cabinet full of sunscreen, bug spray, and anything else you may have forgotten.

If you are considering this location for your stay in Hilo, just book the room. You will feel at home and have everything you need at your finger tips for your stay in Hilo. The hosts are warm and generous. The food was delicious and the parking was a breeze. We booked a room with the ocean view and felt like we could enjoy being in our room as much as exploring. Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean was a delightful finishing touch. It's located conveniently close to food and jumping off for road trips - yet it feels secluded and we heard no city/road noise.

My husband and I spent two nights at this fantastic BnB as we explored Hilo and the surrounding area. I had never stayed at a proper BnB before, and now I'm afraid I'm spoiled for life! We stayed in room #3, a corner oceanfront room, and I already miss it. The waves are so incredibly soothing, and the sunrise view couldn't have been any better. As others have mentioned, the breakfast service was fantastic and made to order. We're early risers, and they were up and ready to serve at 6:45am! I'm vegetarian and my husband is vegan, and they made sure to suggest options that fit our needs. I was impressed that snacks were made available each day, as well, which we happily took advantage of -- granola bars, fruit from their property, etc. I truly can't think of a single thing that could be improved. If you're a fan of BnBs, you will not be disappointed!

Enjoyed our stay here. The room was spacious & very comfortable. A nice breakfast is served each morning by a very friendly couple who live on the property. The sounds of the ocean are very soothing (& drowns out the noisy coqui frogs!)

Each suite has its own bathroom. Each suite is private. No ac as Hilo is usually not as hot and also cools down at night.
