I stayed in the outdoor dorm. even for hostel standards it was the opposite of luxurious... there were a lot of mosquitos and roaches and I couldn't enter the lobby/kitchen after 9pm. The wifi is not available in the outdoor dorm. The staff is absolutely lovely and the location is perfect - central and safe. If you want to meet...

Husband and I stayed 4 nights at Wild Ginger Inn during Merrie Monarch in March 2016. We found the Inn comfortable enough. Loved the reception area and friendly atmosphere. Daily buffet breakfast is basic fruit, pastry, cereal, and very good coffee. Room 25 was very clean and cozy. Bathroom shower was plenty large and had a handheld shower wand like...

If you are looking for something swanky and "upscale" this is not for you, but if you like a friendly place that feels like real old Hawaii, you gotta stay here! Fresh breakfast every morning consists of home baked treats and their own home grown fruit (papaya, bananas, etc.) PLUS every night they had something extra going on in the...

Me and my partner have been to the Big Island twice and both times we stayed at the Wild Ginger, we first picked it because it was a reasonable price with breakfast included and returned because of the amazing staff. We stayed in a private room with ensuite, there is a ceiling fan also a fridge which is handy as...

I only needed a place in Hilo for one night with an early departure, so I booked a private room in the hostel side of the Ginger Inn. The good - location is on quiet residential street just a few blocks from Hilo Farmer's Market and beach and various downtown restaurants. There is free breakfast, but it's pretty basic, I...

Stayed there one night after flying in Hilo. If you are a light sleeper, definitely avoid! It does include breakfast and is close to the restaurants, but the lack of sound insulation and AC makes it a quite unpleasant stay (and having a clogged shower stall did not help either..)

You might be discouraged by the first look of this motel; but the more you stay here the more attached you become. We stayed for 3 nights and loved it by the end of our stay. It is conveniently located and while not being an award-winning resort - provides just the adequate amount of comfort required to make your stay...

Open and airy common area and a lush garden section made this feel like true Hawai'i living. Clean and efficient room, lovely continental breakfast and nice location to downtown. Very nice hosts. Would definitely stay here again. Coqui frogs were not too too bad :)

Due to an unplanned overnight stay in Hilo while our Jeep was being repaired, we needed a place to stay. Hilo is not booming with resorts, hotels, etc. and due to high season, what few they do have are overpriced for what you get. I found this place on Trip Advisor and we decided to stop in and check it...

and a massively warm Hawaiian welcome, then look no further. The inn is run by the Love family and I have now stayed here 4 times. There lies my testimonial. The motel style rooms are surrounded by gardens and forest. This means that in the evenings you can hear crickets and frogs and an unknown quantity of other creatures. For...
