This was a lovely place to stay and I am so happy we came across it! The rooms are spacious with a large King size bed and walk in shower. The rooms have their own sink with dishes and a toaster, microwave, fridge etc. but if you want to cook, you can go into the main house to use the big kitchen. With COVID, we were happy to be able to just go straight to our room and not have to go through a main area before. They've done a great job of lending some privacy on the lanai's and they were such a great spot to just sit and enjoy the view and a nice beverage. We also walked around the farm which was fun to see the different fruits growing and got some delicious tangerines and lemons! We wish we would have stayed a few more days, highly recommmend!
If you are looking for a place to de-stress this is it! Our room was spacious, clean, had everything we needed. It was private and quiet, except for the frogs that sang us to sleep! The owner was very attentive to anything we needed. The common area was well stocked with cooking utensils and appliances. There were also games snd puzzles for rainy days! Downtown Hilo was about a half hour away. I would highly recommend for a quiet peaceful accommodation!
If you are looking for a place to stay in the Hilo area, this is it. My wife and I loved this place. You are on a working farm. They turned one building into a country inn with four rooms. The room is large and spacious. There is a kitchenette in the room. However there is also a full kitchen and family room that all have access to. We brought groceries and saved some money by cooking. There is also a grill on the property for guests to use. The fresh fruit from the farm was yummy! Note that there are four cats that hang out here, Twila, George, Gobo and one other gray one. All are very friendly and want to be pet. Since we love cats, we wanted to take them all into the room (a no-no though). You can see the ocean from the back lanai, although it is in the distance. Such a relaxing place and my wife and I would definitely stay here again. Randy & Co are very welcoming and have a bunch of ideas of things to do for you. Note: The Hilo area is pretty far from Kona (about two hours). Don’t underestimate the time it can take to get there, especially if you are behind a slow moving truck. Looking for something to do, we spent a whole day in the Kona area visiting coffee plantations. Try the black sand beach south of the Volcano National Park (we saw a turtle!). Locally there also is the chocolate tour at Hawaiian Crown which is really interesting and comes with samples (fruit/beans & chocolate of course).…
Lets start of with saying: I RECOMMEND Mahana house! We stayed 4 nights in this lovely place on the east side of Big Island. Its the wet and lush green part of the island Mahana house is located in the mid of the country siye full of tranquility and nice views. Only 15 minute from Hilo. Mahana house feels like a home away from home. Large room big and covered terrace lanai with lounge chairs. Property is clean, new and well maintained and well decorated full of practical utensils to use. The enormous common and kitchen is full of sweet little details about the island and a large Lanay and BBQ and Kitchen to use. All is so lively and practical that is feels like being home. Wash machine, dishwasher, many kitchen and food basic items for free in the cabinets. Just great. We did not see the owners a lot but talked to the lovely and friendly room keeper 1 morning! Free fruits from the farm were provided. The frogs can be loud at night, but hey that nature! The farm cats come to say hello once in while (only outside)which might be important for furture guest with allergy …
This was a wonderful place in the countryside. You breathe fresh air and enjoy great views over the farmland and ocean in the distance. Wonderful property which is very well maintained and well thought through with guest’s comfort in mind. We spent 4 nights here and could easily have stayed longer. Only downside is you do have noisy frogs at night so bring earplugs!
