I've been a dedicated B&B guest all over the U.S. for decades. However, Bentwood Inn ranks as the biggest disappointment I've ever had. And at $650.00 per night, it should have been outstanding. If I had not had to prepay 30 days in advance, I would have walked out. Three nights in the small, tight Indian Paintbrush room did not meet the high expectations set by this inn's website. Billed as: "most scenic room overlooks back with filtered view of Tetons." Well . . . the view is of party lights strung over the deck below, then across the grassy yard to a stand of conifer trees and the roof of a nearby cabin. You cannot see the Tetons. The tiny balcony off the room has a cocktail table and two metal chairs with broken wicker seats. Don't sit unless you want to snag your clothes. The wood on the balcony is peeling paint and hasn't been swept in a long time. The "comfortable chair to curl up and read by the fireplace" is hard, straight, and small. The fireplace is hidden behind a floor fan and a luggage rack. There's no other place in the room to sit other than a small desk chair right by the bed. If you need to charge your cell phone or laptop, you can crawl under the desk or move the bedside table to find an outlet. The bathroom is totally updated, spacious, and lovely with a large walk-in shower. The main living room has a large fireplace, 4 leather chairs, and 3 side tables. Pleasant enough, but not particularly homey or inviting. One of the glass tables was very dirty and finally on my third day, I found the housekeeper and asked her to clean it. The outdoors deck contains several large tables with benches for hosting events. There are no outdoor seating areas that would encourage guests to leave their rooms and relax. Breakfast was horrible. First, breakfast was served at 8:00. When I asked if that was a "hard and fast time", the hostess told me that if I was later than 8:00, all the food might be gone. So on my first day, I arrived at 8:00, served myself to a small yogurt but found all the cinnamon rolls gone 10 minutes later. Second, the chef had quit and the inn hostess and her partner were trying to make do. Guests had to search the room to find silverware, napkins, sugar, tea, and serve themselves. On day two, we were given a small slice of quiche and some kind of hash. On day three, we got one fried egg on avocado toast. My husband hates avocado, so went without. I asked for jam and was told there wasn't any. The website says Bentwood Inn is on 4 acres of land. But that land is near the highway and the road noise is ever present. Open windows for cool air wouldn't be a quiet way to sleep. We were never offered the bikes the website says are available -- they didn't look in the best riding shape anyway. The hostess did set out a cheese and charcuterie tray each evening and offered wine. All the guests were friendly. For the money, do yourself a favor and find someplace else to stay. If I had it to do over, I'd stay at Jackson Lake Lodge. Bentwood Inn is not worth it. …
