The Carter Inn is a remodeled CLEAN motel, locally owned and operated by the owners. Our rooms are all non-smoking and have free wi-fi, flat screen tv's, coffee pot, hairdryer, mini-frig. and microwave. We offer a grab and go breakfast and coffee in the lobby for your convenience. There is a lovely courtyard complete with a barbeque grill and gazebo for a perfect relaxation area. The motel is walking distance to restaurants, shops and bars. We offer true western hospitality and pride ourselves, not only on our service, but on the cleanliness of our rooms.

My family and I stayed at the Carter Inn for one night. We were greeted by the friendly owners at checkin. They gave us advice of places to eat in town and things to do on the way to our destination. They also greeted us with homemade chocolate chip cookies. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the grounds were well-maintained. There is a nice sitting area where you can enjoy the outdoors. The WiFi is strong and consistent. The breakfast was also homemade. The owners made scones, homemade bread, fresh fruit, eggs, sausage and other choices. I cannot recommend this place enough. The kindness of the owners along with the extra “touches”, such as chocolates in the room, a rubber ducky on the bathtub, etc. show that they want to make you smile and feel at home. I HIGHLY recommend you stay at the Carter Inn. I am taking my family on a road trip from FL to CA and back. We have stayed in a hotel every night. This is the only review I have written. This place stands out amongst the rest.

Reservation made almost two months in advance was "lost," which is pretty baffling since their system of an ancient woman scribbling names in a paper calendar seems so fool-proof. The same ancient woman had a really helpful shrug emoji attitude about the screw-up. Cool story, Carter Inn!

This is a small, family operated motel. This is our first time here. We are pleasantly surprised at how clean it is. Very nice, the bathroom is especially clean, which if not can ruin anyone's vacation. There is a picnic area on the lawn, lots of shade trees, you won't be disappointed.

Ten Sleep is small and doesn't have lots of loding options. The owners have updated this Inn so it's cozy and clean. The rooms are quiet with comfortable beds and a nice bathroom. I like thicker towels and you'll find them here. The courtyard offers a peaceful setting for enjoying Wyoming mornings and evenings. Everything in town is within walking distance, but there's a quick shop catty corner for snacks or gas. The park and museum are within a block. We'll be back.

My friend and I stayed here during our time in Ten Sleep. We were climbing there for an entire week and wanted a comfy place to stay. While the inn is small, the inside is nice and the bathrooms are brand new! The owner is very sweet and will make sure you have everything you need! A couple of things to note, you have to arrive between a certain check in time and the microwave is only in the lobby area (at least for the two person rooms!) The town is super cute but very limited with food options so make sure to pack some food and snacks! We area looking forward to going back to Ten Sleep next summer and will definitely be staying here again!!

Traditionally, when you stay in a small hotel in a very small town, its rundown and antiquated. The owners of the this wonderful hotel obviously take pride in what they own. They've reinvested plenty of $ in upgrades and made the place wonderful! The proprietor-Ruthanne (or Ruthanne the Hammer, as I like to call her)-is very friendly and accommodating. We travelled there to pick a helicopter and move it back to Texas, and during our entire cross-country flight, this was by far our favorite place to stay.

Beyond super clean - the owner bent over backwards to make sure we were happy and knew where we could find places to eat in the tiny little town. The hotel room was quaint and cozy - we will definitely make this a stop again.

Older model hotel, but great updates, nice outside area, friendly people, very clean, stairs could use some work, we stayed for 4 days and every day our room was near and tidy and clean for us when we returned. Would recommend

I have never written a bad review, but my experience was so terrible I feel I should warn other people. I booked a room months in advance for a wedding. I also confirmed by calling a few weeks in advance. The owner was the one I spoke to both times. She confirmed; said she had us down for the room plus a rollaway, so she clearly had the details of our reservation. Then we showed up during the narrow check-in window (3-6pm), which pushed us to right before the wedding. Nobody was in the office or answering either of their telephones. We waited. The owner finally came out of the building for something else and we said we were waiting to be checked in. She was annoyed and said she was sold out. I told her we had a reservation. She huffed and said she'd look. Looked at her book and still said no. I told her I'd called to confirm. I asked her name and confirmed that she was the owner, the same person I'd spoken to when I booked AND when I confirmed. Later at the wedding I found out she had messed up reservations for the wedding party and so it seems she gave our room to them since they arrived the previous night; I get that mistakes happen, but she seems to have knowingly given our reservation away without bothering to let us know. She just tried hiding from us during check-in time and acting like she didn't remember us, and she offered no apologies. She was rude to other guests from the wedding too. This is a very small town with limited hotels so this was more than a minor inconvenience. We got lucky and found a cancellation at a lodge back up the mountain, but it made our family WAY late to the wedding and we had to drive back up the mountain twice that night. However, if it weren't for the luck of finding any sort of room we would have had to drive back to Casper that same night with a kiddo.

Response from wyodel, Owner at The Carter Inn
Responded Aug 17, 2018
This mishap was unintentional and I am sorry for any inconvenience I caused, but I was not rude. The other guests to whom I am accused to being rude arrived at 11:20 in the morning wanting to check in to their rooms. We are still cleaning the rooms at this time. Check-in time is 3:00pm and each time a reservation is made, the individual is informed of this check-in time policy. Please look at the reviews of the Carter Inn and see how many times I have been accused of being rude or of having intentionally rented a room out from under a prospective guest. Thank you, Ruthann Carter, owner

Great little hotel in the smallest town you'll ever stay in. The owner greets you at checkin, and when she talks about the rooms, and you see her cleaning them herself the next day, you can feel the pride she has in her hotel. I'm a neat hotel guest, but I made sure my family kept everything a-ok, it felt like I didnt want to disapoint my mom, a real homey feeling. It's an older building, well maintained, the room was very clean, carpet was extremely clean, and the bathroom recently renovated. Good towels, comfortable bed, fridge in room. the rooms are small, but we didn't mind. Except for the bar in town, the small store, the one restaurant and gas station close up about 9pm. Theres a great local brewery just on the West side of town about 1/2 mile before town proper, lots of fun and food trucks on the weekend.
