Detailed Reviews
My family and I stayed at the Carter Inn for one night. We were greeted by the friendly owners at checkin. They gave us advice of places to eat in town and things to do on the way to our destination. They also greeted us with homemade chocolate chip cookies. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the grounds were well-maintained. There is a nice sitting area where you can enjoy the outdoors. The WiFi is strong and consistent.
The breakfast was also homemade. The owners made scones, homemade bread, fresh fruit, eggs, sausage and other choices. I cannot recommend this place enough. The kindness of the owners along with the extra “touches”, such as chocolates in the room, a rubber ducky on the bathtub, etc. show that they want to make you smile and feel at home. I HIGHLY recommend you stay at the Carter Inn. I am taking my family on a road trip from FL to CA and back. We have stayed in a hotel every night. This is the only review I have written. This place stands out amongst the rest.

My brother and I were hunting and in between camping and hunting we needed a few days in a motel. The Carter Inn was truly a great place to stay. Clean room, fantastic homemade breakfast, and the owners were very hospitable and accommodating. They offer homemade chocolate chip cookies at 3:00 PM, and I was blown away how good they were. Christa gave me a few and I brought them back to PA, and now they are famous from Wyoming to PA. (I would defiantly bring my wife to stay there)

The Carter Inn was recently renovated and opened by new owners Kenny and Christa, lovely people. It's the only motel in Ten Sleep and it has eight rooms, so be sure to reserve in advance. Our room was nicely decorated, had great window treatments, was clean and the bed comfy, but the loud on-and-off air conditioner bothered my husband all night long. The bathroom showed the most updates. The older facility meant next door people noises. Christa is up early every morning to prepare a homemade breakfast, which was delightful and delicious. The Carter Inn is downtown, easy to walk and explore main street.

I stayed here when I was riding the BDR trail on my dirtbike. The owners live in location so they are always available.
Check in: Fast and easy. Very friendly and helpful.
The stay: The room was clean, didn't smell gross, and had some fresh updates. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were nice as well. I walked over to the sleepy coyote for a bite to eat. Very good. The town only has 246 people, so everything is in walking distance.
The next morning: Breakfast is included with the stay. This is where this place shines as well. They open up a room for you to go sit in to eat. They made me eggs and sausage to order. They also had homemade pastries, homemade sourdough bread, and homemade jam. I ate my breakfast, sat and talked with the owners for a bit as well.
Overall: The Carter Inn is fantastic. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The owners truly know great customer service and make sure their guests' needs and wants are taken care of. There are only 8 rooms so make sure and book early! Thanks again!

STAY HERE! You will be very happy you did! It is the little things that make a difference and they check all the boxes! The rooms are newly remodeled and so very cozy. At check in they had homemade chocolate chip cookies. They provided bathrobes and slippers and to make you smile a rubber ducky in the bath. Their outdoor area was so inviting so we sat outdoors and watched all the lights come on around as dusk arrived. They provided suggestions for area eateries and events. Breakfast was amazing! Home cooked from scratch. They provided several choices of breads, sourdough options, fresh fruit and homemade jams and jellies. They had a delicious egg selection. It was wonderful to set down to breakfast with this great couple. The WiFi was strong, beds were great, sleep was amazing. I will be back!

+1
Kenny and Christa are the lovely owners of this establishment, and they are true delight! Very clean rooms, very comfortable and homey atmosphere. Beautiful sitting area outside in the trees with a gazebo, tables and chairs.
Breakfast is at a large table for all guests to sit down and meet/visit with over the most AMAZING home cooked farm-to-table food! They even sat down with us and we had a great conversation before we left on the last leg of our long motorcycle trip.
We will most definitely be back to support this down to earth and hard working couple. Highly Recommend!!!

This is a great place to stay. An old style motel in a great western mountain town. Only 8 rooms and they book out fast, so plan early. Room was so clean and comfortable. Nice bathroom and shower, beautiful towels and bedding, and a couple of bathrobes provided. The breakfast was local farm fresh cheesey scrambled eggs which we topped off with a homemade chimichurri, sausage and toasted french bread with homemade apple butter. All cooked fresh and hot each morning. Oh, and a coffeecake fresh out of the oven! No lie. The Carter Inn has been in Ten Sleep forever but the current owners are new and bringing their own game. The town is vibrant and isn't like most small towns. New restaurants and shops opening and a brewery bringing in live music almost nightly. Stay in a great motel and enjoy!

Kenny and Christa have done a great job in this cozy spot deep in the mountains. The room had everything you need, and the breakfast was to die for. Fresh everything and sourdough bread with homemade chokecherry jam. They were friendly and helpful in planning the next leg of our trip.

We had a great stay at Carter Inn and I can’t recommend enough. The little details matter! Homemade breakfast was delicious. Proprietors were very friendly. The rooms were clean and had all the necessities. My party was on a week long motorcycle trip and this was the best place we stayed.

Clean, comfortable and well appointed inn in a cool little town. Amazing breakfast and tremendous hosts. Be sure to drive through Tensleep Canyon. If you are in the area I can’t imagine a better place to stay. Did I mention the incredible breakfast?
