On the plus side, the location is great, just outside the Bighorn National Forest, and just over an hour east of Yellowstone, so it was a great stopping point for us. We stayed in the Bunkhouse, so another plus is the multiple beds. The owner was friendly and helpful. The grounds are obviously cared for and well maintained. It had wifi, and the signal was pretty good. The TV got a selection of channels. On the downside, the bed spread had a large stain, and there was no bed skirt, which also showed a stain on the box spring. The bunkhouse had no front porch like the others. It did have a picnic table on the side, but it got used by others, so limited ability to use outdoor space. The store closed at 7 (and we got there a bit after due to a hailstorm crossing the forest), and didn't open until 10 the next morning, which was after we left. I understand a small place won't have extended hours, but it would have been helpful to have this on the website so I could have planned on that (maybe it was there, but I looked and didn't see it.) There was nowhere to even get a cup of coffee. Well, there is a coffee pot in the room, but we made 3 cups, and 2 curdled with the creamer added. So we all shared the one good one. From reading the reviews, it sounds like these are relatively new owners, and have made a lot of improvements. A few more based on what I have pointed out and it will be even better.

My family and I took a road trip to see Yellow Stone. We needed a place to stay. We used expedia to help find us sonewhere. The first place refunded our money because they wouldn't accept a one night stay. Shell Campgrounds was a God send. We chose them, and we were able to stay. We were scared by there 7 pm check in time. We got stuck in road construction in Yellow Stone and we didnt arrive until late. However, we checked our voicemail and was pleasantly surprised by the late check in procedures given on our mesaage. Check in was no problem. Now if you come in with expectations like you are staying at the Hyatt you will be disappointed. This is a cabin and RV park. We stayed in cabin 4. Our cabin was well maintained. It was made of wood, but didnt have a wood smell. It even included a ceiling fan! Be warned though. We had a double size bed and a bunk bed. After being used to a king size bed this bed was a adjustment. Also, our kids shared the lower bunk because the upper bunk had no railing. Overall, we had a good experience. We would stay here again.

Nice place out of the busy hectic big city. Very friendly owners and staff. About 70 miles to Cody, WY but is really nice and relaxing. We traveled on motorcycles and were really happy. I would recommend this place to everyone.

The owners are fantastic and extremely accommodating. The property is very well cared for and the hospitality is unmatched. My wife and I camp frequently and we can say with absolute confidence that this campground is one of the best.

My two daughters and I stayed in a cabin for one night as we headed toward Yellowstone. It was a perfect spot right after passing through the Big Mountains on 14. The cabin was cute and the hosts were so kind! I sat in the office and had a beer with the other guests while the girls ran off to explore. We were able to buy firewood and marshmallows for a campfire after dark. We all loved this little gem of a spot and made some great memories by the fire!
