Location: good overnight stay before attending Custer Buffalo Roundup, 45 minutes away, much cheaper than those in Custer; big parking lots Front Desk: excellent and quick even we don’t have advanced reservation Room: very nice and roomy, clean, regular shampoo and conditioner, no lotion, no shower cap; towels are clean and in good quality! Comfortable beddings! Breakfast included: tasty sausages and scrambled eggs, great do-it-yourself waffles, individual wrapped pastries Overall, it’s an excellent hotel at good prices
Booked a room through Expedia 2 months in advance and received a phone call at 3:37 pm the day of my check-in stating that they gave my room away. The assistant manager decided to give my reservation away and offered a room at an rundown hotel down the road - Staff at the front desk were horrible and rude. Hotel looked dirty and outdated.
When I booked the room, it had 4 rooms available. We were trying to find a room coming from Mt. Rushmore, and this was the one that I picked. Upon entry, the place looked charming and cozy. I got to the front desk to check in, and the rather rude blonde haired lady told me she didn't have a room for me. I said that I already booked it and it said that there were other rooms available. She said, that there were 4 dirty rooms and I can't stay. I was already exhausted and had to travel another 45 minutes before I found a shady motel to stay in. I should have asked for the manager, it takes 20 minutes to clean a room! Bad service and lost a customer, gained a bad review!
We had an amazing visit. Our front desk clerk went above and beyond to help us out. She was very professional and helpful. We dealt with a few rude people earlier and it was nice to have someone smile and help you out. Thank you for everything. We will stay here again
My boyfriend and I stayed here on the way north up to Devil’s Tower. He wanted to camp out, I didn’t as it was late (10 pm) when we arrived in the Newcastle area. Thankfully this hotel had availability and the price was right( ($115, incl taxes). Looked like they took all precautions for COVID-19. Our room was very clean and had all amenities, including plenty of outlets for us to recharge our electronic devices. Though we only used one bed, our room had two comfortable queen size beds. The shower was warm and the coffee provided was great. Breakfast was included and was prepared for each of us individually (due to the virus); they offered the usual breakfast selection. I would definitely stay here again.
We stayed here on our way home from visiting Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean and generously sized. We ate at the restaurant on premises and the food was good and the staff were very friendly as well. We would definitely stay here again.
Front desk people are incredibly nosey. They charged my card without telling us. They claimed room damage so they charged an additional fee for that. Stated that there was blood on a sheet, and the maid supposedly took pictures. Something that could be washed out. We had 2 young children that may or may not have gotten blood or dirt on their sheets. If they did it would be very minimal! But called it room damage. We are frequent travelers and have never ever been charged a room damage fee. We will never go back and we will not reccomend our friends to use this hotel. Beware!
Upon getting to my room, I always check to make sure the linens are fresh. I noticed an odd dark spot showing through the sheet. So, I pulled the fitted sheet back to reveal a fresh, quarter-sized blood stain on the mattress pad. It had to have been there when the sheet was changed after the previous lodger. Also, my room smelled of body odor each afternoon upon arrival. After leaving the window open for several hours, it seemed to go away. Maybe I just got used to it? The soiled mattress pad was changed the next day, upon my request to the front desk. However, I should NOT have had to make that request. The smell came back every day by the time I returned to the room... I'm not sure my party will return to this hotel...
I booked a hotel for tomorrow night on a Wednesday, in the middle of the week and I just received a snotty phone call from the front desk associate I'm assuming, stating that they were full and they were completely canceling my reservation at 6pm the day before I am supposed to be arriving. She ended the conversation with saying in a very rude, sarcastic manner "I sure hope you find somewhere else to stay"... For $116+ a night at your hotel in Newcastle wyoming, this short notice and the way they handled the phone call was a complete joke! I've stayed in this hotel before and it's a shame how the people working just represented a very nice hotel. Will not recommend doing business with them again.
Room was spacious, very clean. Nicely decorated. Free breakfast was very nice. Staff was friendly. Pool and whirlpool were pleasant and appointed with plenty of towels. Fitness center is the largest and best equipped we have seen in our travels all over the world. Nice casual restaurant off the lobby. Great for tired travelers who don't want to go anywhere else once they get to their hotel. Spacious beautiful lobby.
