Amangani (peaceful home) clings to the crest of East Gros Ventre Butte, some 2,135 metres above sea level, and affords magnificent views of the Grand Tetons and Snake River Valley. The resort evokes the atmosphere of the American West, from its redwood panelling to its blazing logfires. Amangani is an all-season resort. The winter highlight is skiing, while in spring, summer and fall the surrounding wilderness areas of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks are amongst the many attractions.

My wife and I visited Amangani for their Wellness in the Mountains retreat to recharge the batteries. The resort is set in the most spectatular setting within Jackson Hole. Just can't say enough about the staff. You are always greeted with a genuine smile and treated like family. They are very warm and and eager to strike up a conversation with you while you figure out the days activities. If you get a chance, the GM Stuart, will take you on a wonderful hike around the bluff with unreal vistas. We were blessed to study meditation with Geshe YongDong - life changing 5 days with a master - just priceless.

Whenever we are in Jackson Hole this is our go-to destination - beautiful property, amazing views, food is outstanding. It has this great modern meets organic vibe w/ a touch of Asian influence. Close to great Jackson Hole Skiing and less than an hour from some of the finest powder skiing in N. America at Grand Targhee!

My new husband had raved about his stay ten years ago so I was looking forward to our visit. We are both well travelled and had stayed at luxurious resorts all over the world. What a disappointment! Yes the view was spectacular but that was it. The manager met us with a welcome drink, and I asked for a tour. He could only take me to half the rooms due to a group affair. My husband was surprised that they were doing “group” affairs. It is a small hotel and a “group” tend to take over the facilities for the other guests. The room was nice but showed it’s 20 year old age. The electronics were sparse and the safe would not accommodate a computer. No welcome gifts, which I thought was odd. Not wine, chocolates or fruit. They squeezed us in for dinner, they only have one restaurant and they are far from town. The staff was not trained well and we were ignored for much of the dinner. The food was atrocious. Salty and barely edible. A limited menu. We tried breakfast the next day. How tough could that be, apparently it was. Same type of limited salty menu. We went to the market and brought back food to eat for the next three days and nights. At the pool, which also needed some work, we found other guests with the same experience. My husband swam four laps and his eye’s stung from the chemicals and he could barely open them for the rest of the night. His eyes bothered him for the next few days. The staff was nonexistent. I am a hiker and was looking forward to the trails. They turned out to be small paths through the neighbors back yards. What an overpriced mess. At the end we calmly lodged our complaints with the manager (who took off the meals, that wasn’t the point,) but did not make us feel like we were being heard. Save your money and go to the Four Seasons. My husband felt we were marks and Eaop,s Fable of “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” came to his mind. I never write reviews, but our bad experience warranted this one.

The property is spectacular. The view are to die for. The service is great. The price is outrageous. I would not go here if you are looking for "best value'. It is a splurge that cannot really be justified on a "happys per dollar" basis. It might be different if things like the car service to town were not extra, or the spa services were more reasonably priced. But if money is not a consideration, it is a great place to stay.

We decided to treat ourselves and visit an Aman hotel. We had heard great things about the brand. The setting was beautiful but then again the whole area is, even the airport. When you pay the prices they charge you expect something extraordinary. The room was just ok no welcoming champagne or basket of fruit not even water was complimentary. The service was ok but didn't seem genuine. The food at the restaurant was good but the service was pretentious and disorganized. We were not given a drink menu and when I asked for a glass of wine I was shocked by the price of the wine the waiter had picked for me. We had to wait close to an hour for the check and ask 3 people. When our waiter finally showed he up he told us that the guests normally just left and were billed to the room. I need to know what I am charged and they were shaming us for asking. At the end the bill had some surprises anyway. They added about 20% in taxes and resort fee. I think this place is catering to people that don't care about how they spend their money. We have been to hotels that were much more expensive and received such wonderful service that we would return. But not this one.
