It was our first time at a dude ranch. What can I say: it was perfect. The ranch is located quite remotely at a small river, where you can do some fly-fishing with the local guy Neil, which was fun. The horses were all well trained, calm, used to rough and steep trails and were also willing to go faster, when there was the possibility. Our wranglers were extremely kind and cheerful people, like the rest of the staff and Deb and Jason made us really feel at home. Apart from horse back riding, there is a pool, hot tub , petting zoo and an afternoon programme ( country music, shooting, roping, fishing, square dancing) and time to hang out either in the cosy common rooms (there are many books to read) or at the porch (drinks are always available and they have a nice selection of wine). Pastry and food were awesome with plenty of greens, so be aware of returning home with some extra pounds. Our 15-yr old daughter started to cry when we left and said that that was the most wonderful time of her life...

Friends who are well traveled in WY/ Jackson Hole / Dubois have recommended this area to us for years, and we can’t imagine a warmer, more authentic or more enjoyable experience than the week we just spent at the Lazy L & B. We have traveled all over the world at many top rated hotels/lodges, and had conducted extensive guest ranch research - looking for: 1) a high quality riding program accommodating varying levels of experience (I am a seasoned english rider, excited for western; my partner a first timer, somewhat anxious) 2) upscale/premium comfort/quality in food and accommodations- but still feeling authentic to the place/ environment. Aka we were not seeking a super luxury ranch/spa, etc. 3) a location with natural beauty (hard to beat almost anywhere in WY) but with a true western feel- away from the Yellowstone/Jackson Hole crowds (but only 2 hrs away if anyone wanted to do a day there). 4) small to mid size / warm personalized vibe ....We found it all at the Lazy L & B. Deb and Jason and their girls are sophisticated, warm and hands- on owners. The wranglers - Bailey, Yoder, Colin, Julia and Hannah- were wonderful, learned, and a pleasure to have as our guides, sharing knowledge of the area topography, history and of course their riding expertise. John’s confidence riding grew within days with some extra support from the team. The horses were healthy, well cared for - and were given every other week off. Not a common practice. Meals were excellent - chef Ryan always asked for any preferences, his cuisine often beat our fave local nyc spots; pasty chef Cassie’s breads and desserts were a home run each day. Other staff were also exceptional: Sean and Elleigh were cheerful and helpful at every meal, Mike made amazingly cozy fires each morning (it was refreshingly chilly in late Aug!), and Sue was the most inspiring housekeeper we’d ever met (she’d bike daily to/from town!). Lastly, impossible to engineer but our fellow guests were some of the kindest, most interesting and generous people - we hadn’t anticipated that, and time spent talking and riding together was an added bonus. We were the first Adult Week of the season, and think that was a good choice for us. All in all, we’d highly recommend the Lazy L & B and look forward to returning.

I couldn't have asked for a better week. I liked it so much, I came back again this year as a solo traveler for the first time. It's an intimate setting - fewer than 35 guests, a well appointed wrangler staff who can accommodate any skill level, the food of wonderful - a chef AND a pastry chef! I love the quiet, the peacefulness, the chance to disconnect from the outside world. Deb and Jason have created a wonderful haven for those looking for a cozy ranch experience.

From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Deb we knew it would be a fantastic week. It was very clear the owners are very concerned and invested in your experience being very positive. The food was excellent. Our room was very clean with a nice bathroom. The fishing was plentiful and there were a number of options within 15 minutes. The fishing guide (Neal) was very helpful. And of course every ranch has to have a great dog ... and Duke didn’t disappoint! Overall it was excellent and I would highly recommend. PS: Don’t miss the square dance in Dubois!

We travelled as a family for 4 to the Lazy L&B dude ranch after doing lots of research online. And we definitely made the right choice! Everything about this ranch is just amazing. The owners Deb & Jason and their 3 daughters really make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. Everyone - the wranglers, the chefs the waitress and even the maintenance man come and introduce themselves personally. By the end of day 1 everyone is on first name terms. The ranch is set up to be ultra social - And because all guests arrive on the same day (a Sunday) everyone gets to meet at the same time, which helps everyone feel at ease. I think we lost our kids after about the first hour we arrived and hardly saw them again all week! Kids have their own wranglers and do their own rides (and entertainment programme) with a family ride being scheduled for one day. Although more family rides can be arranged if preferred (our kids preferred to ride with the other kids though) The riding was outstanding - the scenery is just breathtaking. No two rides are the same, you will see different landscape and terrain each time out. You can choose do do a couple of all day rides if you want to, and one day you can choose to ride out twice. For the less energetic, or if you just want a day off riding (there is no pressure you are free to do as you please) there is a lovely relaxing pool area. Or it was lovely to sit and read in the cosy lodge with complimentary tea coffee and juice available. There’s fishing and shooting available too. One night there was square dancing in Dubois, which was great fun. The food served here is excellent - really great quality and lots of it. Again there is a mix of family dining or adult only (kids do a cookout and a kids dinner) One night at the end of the week there is a campfire dinner which is an amazing experience and a chance to chat to new friends about your experiences on the ranch (everyone has a funny tale to tell after each days riding) We loved our holiday here and made some great friends. Several of the guests were repeat visitors and we can understand why. We will return without a doubt. We cannot say enough good things about the Lazy L & B so if you are considering a dude ranch holiday then you can’t go wrong with this one.
