My wife and I always tend to stick with what works, which is why this was our third summer in a row to visit the Lazy L&B. You couldn't ask for better owners than Jason and Deb Halmay. You will see both of them several times a day, along with their three daughters, as they work hard to make the guest feel at home and well taken care of. The wranglers do a great job of making sure you have the right fit with your horse and saddle, and they will lead you on some awesome rides thru some beautiful country!! The daily rides are in small groups depending on skill level and the staff is always accommodating. The chef(s) and kitchen staff are awesome to say the least, serving three meals a day, so don't worry about going hungry! The cabins are rustic and very clean and comfortable. Of course this was the year of Covid-19 and I have to say the staff did a very good job implementing procedures to keep the guest and themselves safe. One of the things we like most about the Lazy L&B is the seclusion. This ranch is off the beaten path, but close enough to the little town of Dubois should you need anything. We felt very insulated, and isolated from all the problems going on in our country during these difficult times. If you want to have a relaxing vacation, look no further- this is the place to be!!

We were originally going to Europe for holidays this year but Covid changed our plans... And among all the chaos this virus has brought, this must be one of the best unexpected consequences of it... because we decided to take a road trip to Yellowstone and to add a week in a ranch instead, to realize this "old little boy"'s dream of being a cowboy... We did a lot of research ahead of time to find a place that had a good balance between authenticity and comfort as well as a focus on families. Dude (or guest ranches) tend to either be super luxury Disneyland version of themselves or super rustic which can be a bit more challenging for families. Most of us were also beginners in the horseback riding department and we were worried to get into a place more designed for advanced riders only... Long story short, we ended up going with the L&B, mostly because the reviews were great, the lodging looked super cool, they had a great kid program where the kids ride as a group, giving parents a well deserved break, especially after 4 months stuck at home ... and finally, because of Deb's warm and super helpful communication. She did a fantastic job explaining the measures they had taken regarding covid and dedramatized the "first visit to a ranch"... we had an AMAZING week... All of us ended up basically saying that it had been the best family vacation ever... The moment we arrived, we put our Stetson and our boots on and unplugged from the stress of the day to day life ... The atmosphere was relaxed, people super nice, food really delicious and they even had a nice selection of reasonably priced drinks... Our log cabin had a separate room for the kids with not only 1 but 2 bunk-beds (which avoided the fight for the top spot between our 8 and 10). Compared to other ranches which are just next to the highway, L&B is like 30mn drive off the main road on a dirt road in the middle of paradise... like in the movie, a river runs through it and the ranch is surrounded by the stunning beauty of Wyoming's nature... You can ride every day if you want and every single ride is different... you'll see coyotes, deers and even sometimes wild horses... but not a single car or human besides your fellow cowboys and girls... the wranglers were fantastic... the last night, you gather around a big fire after supper to share memories and laughter... By the time you leave, the car feels like such a bizarre machine and you're already thinking how hard it will be to put this hat back in its box... but you already know that you will be back one day... because after all, you're a cowboy now ;-)....

What a wonderful way to spend a week. Very relaxing - away from all the daily drama of normal life. Want to get away from it all, see some amazing landscapes and ride some horses? This is your spot! Our family of 5 had a great week!

If you’re looking to unplug in a remote oasis surrounded by nature and beauty this is the place for you. We were not looking for a luxury ranch, but rather a more authentic experience and the Lazy L&B was the perfect match. It is beautiful family operated ranch with quaint cabins with front porches that makes you feel like you’re living on the set of a Western movie. We felt right at home from the moment we arrived. Jason and Deb, the owners along with their daughters and their staff are attentive , friendly and knowledgeable. If you love horses, you will love the excursions planned on a daily basis. If you’re a beginner like me, you have the flexibility of doing shorter riders. There are a few other activities planned throughout the week like roping, shooting, fly fishing, and for kids there are some arts and Krafts projects, petting zoo, and a huge property to run wild:) The meals were especially delicious after a day out on the trails, whether it be the “cowboy breakfast” cooked over the campfire, or adult dinner inside while kids are having a campfire with burgers and s’mores, or takeaway lunch for your ride, every meal was awesome. Thank you for the memories:) Marianne

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Lazy L&B. Our girls both loved their horses and the chance to try fly fishing and roping! It is truly an oasis in the middle of such a beautiful part of our country. The food was delicious and the owners are wonderful and caring. Wish we were still there!
