This place was the best part of our vacation. The cabins were rustic yet very comfortable. The meals were well planned and delicious. The activities were coordinated and fun. Best of all were the owners and staff. They went above and beyond to be accommodating. They were friendly and went out of their way to ensure everyone had a good time. By the end of our stay we felt more like family than guests. We are already planning on returning in 2023z
We could not have asked for a better vacation. We have visited several Dude Ranches and this one far exceeded my expectations. So many activities were planned and Mike and Betsy along with their very organized and professional staff were so accommodating with all of the little request to tailor our vacation to us. I cannot say enough about the how everyone made you feel welcome and at home from the minute you got there. The other guest quickly became friends along with the staff. The horseback riding was wonderful . I loved that the horses were taken care of and treated with love and gentleness. The Cody dinner show and rodeo were a highlight along with Yellowstone day trips. If you are looking for a vacation that will allow you to make memories with friends and family that will last a lifetime the. This ranch and family are where you need to visit. I will be returning for sure.…
Shoshone Guest Ranch exceeded our expectations!! I just got back from a week there with my Husband and 2 teenage Daughters, and I can say without hesitation that it was the best trip we’ve ever taken. Everything about Shoshone feels sort of perfect – the food, the lodging, the staff, the activities… Mike and Betsy and their incredible staff seem to have thought of everything and work really hard to make the stay memorable and magical. The location is absolutely beautiful with the Grinnell River running right along side the ranch! From horseback riding, river rafting, square dancing and even a trip to the Rodeo, they definitely covered all the bases and then some!! Thank you for an incredible experience, we will definitely be returning.
Shoshone Lodge is the real thing. Built back in 1922 but maintained to the highest standards, it is truly a piece of history to be enjoyed. The fourth generation that currently runs the lodge will strive to make your stay comfortable while giving you a taste of what the pioneer west must have been like. The lodge is 100 years old but looks and feels like it was built last year. The cabins are updated and comfortable but you can feel the history and can't help but think of early settlers stopping for supplies on their way to California. How many trappers and traders spent cold winter nights beside the huge fireplace in the main lodge? The staff is real. They are friendly and open and interesting people who are worth the time to get to know. The owners are the pentacle of gracious and caring hosts who will bend over backward to accommodate your needs. My large family from grandparents to grandkids were all accommodated in their needs. For example, on the last day, everyone wanted to do something different. Several went back to the park with a driver. Several wanted to ride horses and were taken on an all-day ride. Several wanted to hike in Yellowstone and the owner Mike recruited John, the cook, and great guy, put them in his personal truck, and sent them off to hike the mountains. Just a perfect day, thank you. Horses, scenery, and wildlife are all on display and breathtaking. The planned events are all well organized and enjoyable. Trail rides are pleasant and not overtaxing. Whitewater rafting was exciting and well managed. The trips into Yellowstone Park were fantastic and planned out perfectly. If you are looking for a taste of the pioneer west and a truly pleasant setting then I would highly recommend Shoshone Lodge. I know this review sounds like a travel brochure but it is the only way to describe the stay we enjoyed. The whole family highly recommends an adventure at Shoshone Lodge.…
We LOVED our stay at the Shoshone Lodge. We were a group of 8: two families from Ireland with kids from 9 - 14 plus our 87 year old father. We were looking for an experience that included horse-riding, white water rafting, fishing, a rodeo and comfortable accommodation. The Shoshone Lodge delivered! They even had square-dancing one night which was a lot of fun! We had a breakfast ride and a dinner ride - the views were stunning. The Shoshone lodge delivered everything we were looking for and were so friendly and accommodating. We felt like part of the family - everyone, and I mean everyone, was very friendly and helpful. The staff realized that my son's birthday was during the trip and, without having to be asked, they made a delicious sheet cake and sang happy birthday. This is the kind of service and friendliness this place exudes. I would highly recommend the Shoshone Lodge.…
Shoshone lodge far exceeded my expectations! The area is gorgeous and Mike and Betsy, the owners, are fantastic hosts. Our family of 9 traveled from Birmingham, Al to the ranch the first week of June 2022. All of the staff from the cooks to the wranglers were so attentive and catered to everyones likes. We visited Yellowstone twice, hiked, fished, rode horses and much more. There were many options for activities or just to relax. I hope to visit again next year. Highly recommend!!!
Shoshone Lodge so where do we start? The best place is right at the top. We would like to thank both Mike & Betsy the owners for a wonderful experience. It all starts with their dedication to all the guests. The professionalism, care and concern they display radiates down to all the employees. Everyone there is constantly going out of their way to ensure you are having a great time. The accommodations are very clean, comfortable and well kept. The meals in the lodge are like large family gathering (with very good food) where you will make new friends for life! There are many activities to keep you busy and you choose which ones you would like to do. There is horseback riding, rafting, hiking, rodeo, ax throwing, exploring Yellowstone just to name some of them. We highly recommend Shoshone Lodge and it is high on my list to return to. Mike, Betsy and staff are dedicated to ensuring you have a good time and truly care about each guest. Now before we post this review there is one more thing you should know. The airline lost our luggage somewhere between Dallas and Denver and we did not get it until the end of our 3rd day at the lodge. Mike, Betsy and staff ensured that this would not hinder us and before you know it, we had boots/clothes and other items that were needed. To everyone at the Shoshone Lodge again “Thank You” for a wonderful vacation.……Dennis & Lisa…
My wife and I, with granddaughters ages 12 and 13, spent the last week of June 2022 at this Lodge. The visit exceeded all of our expectations. The wranglers and other employees were all highly professional and delightful people. The horses were excellent - very well trained and behaved, even for this 70 year old inexperienced rider. The settings for the daily rides were beautiful. The food was excellent, and the accommodations were exactly what we anticipated for a dude ranch. My hat is off to Mike and Betsy for assembling such an excellent staff and creating such a terrific experience. Our crew can't wait to go back!
We traveled with 13 family members ranging in age from 20-57. I researched many ranches and originally had my mind set on a “Luxury Ranch” vacation. I am so glad the price for a luxury ranch for 13 adults was not in our budget or we never would have found Shoshone Lodge. I would say the price was very fair and worth every penny. We had 5 cabins for the 13 of us and could have fit 4 more people. The cabins were rustic looking which added to the charm and they were very comfortable and clean. The front porches with rocking chairs were perfect for early morning and evening quiet time. The sound of the river and horses had a very calming effect. Had they not told us we never would have realized that the week we were there was only their second week as an all inclusive ranch with scheduled, yet flexible, activities and meals. Our first full day was freezing, windy and at times heavily snowing. They had back up plans for the guests and made sure we were all ok with the changes. Instead of a dinner ride we ate inside and had a night of games in the lodge. On the second day our Yellowstone trip was cancelled due to a natural disaster but they added other group activities we could choose from such as hiking, shopping, long lunch ride or a short ride . We were so busy having fun we didn’t care that Yellowstone was closed. On the 3rd day it was 85 degrees. We started the day by taking a breakfast ride to a beautiful site. Breakfast was cooked outside and we sat overlooking a breathtaking view. After that we went white water rafting. We didn’t have a lot of time between the breakfast ride and getting to the vans but I know that is just a kink they will work out as the weeks go on. Luckily they warned us so we had our bags ready to go. White water rafting was also fantastic and it was perfect for all levels. We had 2 who were hesitant about this activity but by the end of the ride one of them actually took over as the guide directing the boat and the other rode the front of the raft during the heavier rapids. After that was a dinner and show followed by the Cody Rodeo. That was an exhausting but really fun day. Since Yellowstone was still closed on the 4th day they provided plenty of options for everyone. All but 3 in our group chose to go shopping and have lunch in Cody. They had us back in time for an afternoon ride. The other 3 had booked a Fly Fishing trip through a company Yipper recommended and they had a successful morning fishing in different lakes around Cody. As far as meals went we knew what time Breakfast and dinner were being served. They were served family style and there was plenty of food for everyone. We packed our own lunches each day. They had a variety of sandwiches, chips, fruits and cookies to choose from. Each evening there was a campfire with guitars and singing. One night they had Ax Throwing as well as Bow and Arrows. Other nights we stayed in the main lodge playing pool and playing different card games. There was also a night of square dancing. They brought in a professional who taught us. We were very lucky that all of the guests were similar to us and it was fun making new friends. We all ate together, rode together and played games together. The owners, Mike and Betsy, went above and beyond to make sure everyone was happy and comfortable. The office manager, Yipper, always had a smile on her face and went out of her way to accommodate requests. If she ever got stressed we never knew it. The 17 staff members were the nicest group of young adults and a lot of fun to spend the week with. They always had smiles on their faces and treated everyone as a friend. The horses we rode were healthy, well cared for and made beginner riders feel like they were experienced riders. My kids were hesitant about taking this trip when I presented the idea to them but they all agreed to go bc they could tell I was very excited about it. They all have told me how happy they were that we took this fantastic trip.…
We stayed in Cabin Creek for 2 nights and were very comfortable. The bed was comfortable, bathroom was updated, there was even tv with a nice selection of channels. We would have preferred one of the bigger cabins with a kitchenette, but everything was booked. This little cabin still worked out great. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and the location was beautiful. It was nice to be able to bring our dog, lots of area for him to have walks. We had breakfast and dinner at the lodge, which was very convenient. The food and service was good.
