I stayed for 3 days/4 nights. Office was very accommodating for our late arrival, they gave me strict instructions as to where to go and what to do. We had to switch cabins at some point because there was a mistake in their systems at the time of reservation but they called me right away and explained and it wasn't something complicated as they move your things themselves (you just have to get it all packed). Cabins where clean, no smells, had all amenities we needed, their toiletries smell great and their hand soap even better. With COVID once you settle in they do not come to clean until you leave, which is understandable. We had a full kitchen, I loved it. The beds were so warm (it was actually rainy and cold) and comfortable, I enjoyed going to bed. Water in the shower never turned cold, cabins had either heaters or chimney. They hold part of the payment and you pay balance when you get there. They also have a restaurant and they serve 3 meals. I'm giving it all stars because on our last night we took longer than expected at Yellowstone and we were so hungry and were driving as fast as we could (as the stop serving at 7:30 pm) well we got there at 7:29 pm and they still served us, I was so thankful...I've been a waitress before so I know it must have been a bummer for them, but they fact that they didn't refuse to serve us, says a lot! From check-in to check-out, all was just perfect. I had no surprises, they only thing is, for tech people, there's no signal, you pay for wifi, but hey, it's nature! forget about the media and the world!

We stayed four nights at Shoshone while visiting Yellowstone. The location is fantastic - only 5 miles from the East Entrance versus roughly 50 if you stay in Cody. The owners and employees are extremely friendly and attentive. When I booked, there was no cabin available for our full stay so we had two nights in Cabin 7 and two nights in Cabin 2. Cabin 7 was located right next to a small brook among some trees - a perfect peaceful setting. It also had a large bathroom with a jetted tub. Cabin 2 is right next to the main lodge, so there was a bit more noise and the bathroom was smaller. Both cabins had rustic Western decor, a microwave, and a frig. The grounds are lovely, with several walking paths and a fire pit where s'mores makings are available nightly. There is an onsite restaurant serving delicious breakfasts and dinners. I highly recommend the nightly specials, such as prime rib and fresh trout, as well as the yummy homemade desserts. Adding to the Western experience are corrals of horses and the opportunity to go on trail rides. I enjoyed a one hour morning ride through wildflower meadows to an amazing mountain overlook. If you are looking for other activities, a lodge directly across the road offers zipline adventures. The only area for improvement would be the quality of linens and towels, but they are probably on par with other similar lodgings. We are glad we stayed here and would definitely visit again in the future!

I’ve traveled from coast to coast across the US for 20+ years and I’ve never met nicer hosts!! These folks are kind and super accommodating. We stayed here for a Yellowstone vacation and believe it is the best location at the East entrance of the park. The cabin was cozy, clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed for our stay. The lodge dining was convenient and reasonably priced. You won’t find a better place! Can’t wait to return!!

This is a popular place literally just a few miles from the east entrance to Yellowstone. I was here 20 years ago. This trip was last minute but because of Covid & the park just recently opening I was able to arrange a stay. I wanted 3 nights in my own cabin and they made it happen. Cabins have been upgraded and are just perfect. They were serving breakfast and dinner which is helpful because the nearest restaurants is a bit of a drive. I had lovely made to order breakfasts and because I was always returning late from wildlife viewing, they would put my dinner in my fridge in my cabin. You are away from the highway and with a large stream near, it is a quiet place. There are horses here. You can arrange trail rides of any length. We did 20 years ago. This trip I did not but other guests were riding. They are hiking trails and wildlife right out back. The staff are absolutely delightful: personally I want to mention Cassie who made sure I had dinner at night, and Sharla & Barb out front. Wish I had stayed longer.

Peaceful, serene, beautiful rustic mountain cabin experience. There’s a great place to eat on the location in the dining hall. It serves breakfast and dinner and has a bar. I recommend the trail ride for anyone 10 and up. It can be a little scary for city slickers. The horses don’t go fast but you do ride on the side of mountains and the view will take your breath away. On our horse ride we encountered a grizzly bear but neither the horses or bear were startled. The horses were basically on auto pilot and throughly seasoned trail riders. The younger staff has the classic Millennial attitude which can be easily ignored. The older staff were very courteous. Some nights you may even have live music in the dining hall. Every night there is a camp fire with smores they provide for free. Great hiking and photo ops everywhere. 3 miles from Yellowstone and 1 hour from Cody. Make sure to get gas and groceries before leaving town. Also don’t expect your phone to work and don’t buy the internet bc it’s hughes net aka not worth it. There is satellite tv in every cabin and you may use the office phone if needed. It’s best to unplug and enjoy the air and views. We will surely be back!! We loved this place.

Driving from California to Wisconsin, my family of four stopped at Shoshone Lodge for a night in June of 2020. Wow. Such a sweet, relaxing, family-run place. We loved everything about it. The lodge is quaint and cozy, food was great and the service was first rate. Wildlife viewing was incredible, even a grizzly bear couple on one hike! We took the horseback ride up the valley across the road from the lodge and our kids (10 and 12 loved it. This is a high recommend for us!

Our family that included 9 of us did the breakfast trail ride. It was an early morning ride that took us up some serious elevation, through wild flower meadows, forest, and next to a rushing stream to a beautiful spot where we were cooked pancakes, bacon, and pancakes over a campfire. The horses were well trained, the food was delicious, the wranglers were helpful, polite, and conversational.

Other members of our group also ate breakfast at the lodge which they said was generous and delicious.

This was our second time doing this at Shoshone. The last was several years ago. Both times were experiences we would definitely recommend.

I can't say one bad thing about the ranch and more importantly the staff. Starting with the owner inviting us the day before arrival to join the staff for a 4th of July barbecue with some live music! The staff always greeted us and helped with all our needs. The horseback riding was fantastic for our large group of 15. Breakfast was great, especially the hashbrowns and smores every night at the campfire. Our group had 3 cabins and one well stocked kitchen for our needs. Fire pit could have been a little bigger but with that being said I think we where lucky just to have a fire. Fishing was great with a very easy walk to the river. Mike and Betsy run a top notch ranch and the history is unbelievable!

Our trip objective was to be close to the Yellowstone entrance and were pleasantly surprised at the relaxation found each evening back at the lodges. We learned the lodge is owned and run by the same family since 1924. The cabins are clean and comfortable, no a/c but none was needed. There is a rushing stream/creek nearby and from cabin 19 we could listen to the soothing sounds day and night. We sat out on the porch of the main office / dining room and our cabin enjoying a cold beer in the rocking chairs. The bar is stocked and the food good, including a nice July 4th BBQ for all the guests with homemade desserts! This is a great place to start your day trips into Yellowstone and to enjoy family activities at the property. We didn't partake of the trail riding but the horses are well-cared for and obviously part of the family. We will be back to stay.

We stayed here 3 days at the end of our 14 day trip around Yellowstone..highly recommend the lodge, everyone was so nice, cabins are perfect and cozy. They serve breakfast and dinner every day and always a different special for dinner. Offer a daily campfire for smores. They offer trail rides which we took for 2 hours they do have shorter rides but the views were amazing. They are also only 4 miles to entrance of Yellowstone...highly recommend

We have stayed in Camp Sacajawea which has 2 rooms, it has 2 queen beds, a murphy bed and a day bed. It also has a full kitchen. We also stayed in FT. Washakie which is 2 rooms with 2 queen beds and the other room has 1 queen bed so really perfect for 2 adults and 2 teens. This one only has a mini fridge and a microwave but they do have a full service restaurant for breakfast & dinner so you really don't need the full kitchen. The only thing we really cooked was ramen noodles for my picky daughter and we were able to prep sandwiches for the cooler. We did the horse back ride which is perfect for newbies, they go very slow and show you everything. We did the 2hr which was pretty amazing. Hope this helps!
