Our trip was recommended by a friend whom had visited 7D Ranch a couple times, boasting about the wonderful days she spent in Sunlight Basin. I, too, can now boast of the glorious week my husband and I spent soaking in the beauty and serenity of a gem of a vacation on horseback. We felt at home and rested in our cabin, which was quaint and cozy on the frosty mornings of early fall at 7000 ft. Our meals were spectacular! My husband and I have fairly strict dietary needs, all of which the cook and baker met and surpassed our expectations. We enjoyed the array of choices we were offered in daily activities; fly-fishing, hiking, sight-seeing, skeet-shooting or just relaxing, but we came for the horseback rides and vast skyline views, which are breathtaking! We were assigned horses to our needs and riding experience. My guy was Dudley, who became a good friend after I rode all the opportunities I had, totaling 26+ hours in the saddle, we traversed high and low, the myriad of trails available, not retaking the same trail all week. Our trail guides were knowledgeable and interesting in conversation. It was fun to get a tiny insight to their lives at the Ranch. We loved an evening campfire and local cowboy crooner, roasting marshmallows and making new friends. The Dominick family welcomed us with open arms and made us feel like 7D Ranch was ours to explore. We will be back!

The week I spent this summer at 7D was such an incredible experience. The views are unlike anything I have ever seen to date, and the staff was so immediately warm and welcoming that I couldn't imagine ever leaving after having only been there for 5 minutes. Their baker keeps the cookie jar stocked with incredible treats to squirrel away in your pocket for a hike, a ride, or even to sit out by the fire with. A community unlike any other - I'm already looking forward to going back!

This was my second year at 7D, and it was even better than the first! The cabins are comfortable and warm. We had central heat and a fireplace, which was came in handy when we had an unexpected thunderstorm one afternoon! We rode every day (except the day Leo took us to Yellowstone)....and the trails were amazing. Riding in a wide open meadow at 9000 feet was magical- and we even saw a lone coyote way up there. The staff at 7D are like a big family- everyone greets you with a smile and wave. This is not a nose to tail ranch- the wranglers will customize your rides around your preferences. You want a short, flat ride? No problem. You want to ride way up to Screaming Woman with your friends? No problem. The wranglers are professional but also a lot of fun. The food is also amazing. Meals are served family style and guests sit together at long dining tables. We were there the last week of the season with only 14 guests, so we got a chance to connect with one another. Nights were spent sitting around the campfire, enjoying a glass of wine and looking at the stars. We were lucky enough to see a shooting star- not something I had ever seen before. I miss it already and can’t wait to return. Andrea and Meade Dominick are wonderful hosts and make you feel like you’re at a home away from home.

This is the third visit to 7D by my friend and I.We both love it. It is set in absolutely beautiful country with a river that runs close by. Visitors stay in cabins that are cleaned every day. All the visitors eat together at long tables so you get to know everyone. The food is abundant and excellent. The thing we really liked is that the head wrangler would come around at breakfast and ask what you wanted to do that day. You could ride (1/2 day or full day, easy or more experienced), fish or hike. They were really accomodating with what you wanted to do. Love this ranch!

We just returned from our fourth visit to the 7D. We look forward to our visits for months and are never disappointed when we arrive. Everything is so familiar that we feel like we're going to our own vacation home in the mountains... only better. We go during the "adults only" weeks so I can't comment on the kids' activities. The horses are perfectly matched to the rider's skill. Everybody is very accomodating to any requests for activities. Just ask!
