We chose Crossed Sabres Ranch for its location, small guest size/week and breadth of quintessentially Western activities. What we got from our experience was SO much more that we could ever have hoped for. The Long family is perfectly suited to run the ranch. They are kind, generous, gracious and welcoming hosts who think of everything and go out of their way to create the a supremely enjoyable experience. The staff was beyond compare - all vibrant, extremely knowledgeable in their trade and just a delight to be around. The ranch itself is simply charming - immaculate facilities, wide open spaces to truly feel free, and activities to please everyone in my family. What we thought would be a great trip out West, turned into a vacation that will be hard pressed to match. I’ve been on a safari in South Africa, traipsed across Europe, spent time in Argentina and seen quite a bit of our great country. But no trip can compare to our stay at Crossed Sabres Ranch. Our sincerest thanks for a week we will never forget.

We visited Crossed Sabers in June with our 10 year old granddaughter. This was a vacation of a lifetime for her, and as we plan to take each grandchild on a special trip as they turn 10 we wonder how we could ever top this experience. The location next to the Shoshone National Forest where trail rides take place, the unmatched personal attention provided by staff, wonderful food and plentiful opportunities for socializing were all with a backdrop of beautiful mountains. Horse assignments were made based on rider size and experience and they were very well matched. The day trip to Yellowstone, a rodeo in Cody, whitewater rafting, skeet shooting, square dance lessons and fly fishing all contributed to an absolutely fantastic week. I would highly recommend Crossed Sabres as a perfect family vacation.

It’s hard to know where to exactly start. But from the moment we went into the lobby and met the owners we knew we made the best choice for a Dude Ranch experience . A five star ⭐️ experience from the cleanliness of the cabins to the comfy beds to the southern hospitality from everyone there to all the evening special events and ranch activities and you can not forget the yummy food and the exceptional staff!
Also we loved that it was a small group of guest since they keep the limit to 30 guest. It was fun to get to know other guest over the week.
I was afraid at first to get on a horse but the owner made sure that they were aware and we had Madi as our guide and she was amazing. She took the time to make sure I felt comfortable and after that I was able to enjoy the riding experience all week.
The other experience that we really all enjoyed was the fly fishing and Stephen was our fly fishing guide he took us to very unique spots and was just as excited as we were when we call fish.
We were so sad to leave!

It is an understatement to say that Kenny and Laura Long at Crossed Sabres Ranch have set the bar high for exceeding expectations. From the minute you arrive to the last tearful goodbyes you will be treated in many special ways. To celebrate our 50th anniversary we took our kids, their spouses and our grandkids to this special place we had first visited in 1985. We never heard any of our large group complain about anything or be disappointed in anything. Everyone was bowled over by the ways in which we were welcomed and included in so many new and different activities. Within the first few hours you are already
feeling "at home" in this lovely western setting with the Longs and their staff.
Requests are taken seriously and if possible they will make it happen. The Long's
have assembled a staff of young people that are, each and every one, friendly, accomplished, caring and full of fun. Whatever you choose to do: ride, hike, fish,
or shoot, they come along side you and make sure you are safe, comfortable and
enjoying every minute. There are so many things to do and great people to get to
know we barely even opened the books we brought to read! The cabins are rustic
but comfortable, the 3 meals a day are ALL high points thanks to Billie and Chad.
The scenery is gorgeous and the extra trips and fun events throughout the week
give everyone plenty to do and lots of variety. If you are fortunate enough to go to
Crossed Sabres Ranch we can guarantee you won't be ready to leave and quite possibly you will even return just as we did.

Our weeklong adventure far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived on Sunday until we departed on Saturday our hours were packed with both majestic mountain views and amazing western activities that at the end of each day left us exhausted yet exhilarated. The cabin the two of us enjoyed was clean and cozy and afforded us a place to recharge at the end of each day. Although we are novices our main focus was horseback riding. The horses we each rode for the week were matched to our abilities by the head wrangler Justin and each wrangler that led our trail rides were focused on our enjoyment and safety. In fact each member of the Crossed Sabres staff from ownership to kitchen staff, cookout cooks, housekeeping, fishing guides and wranglers were truly committed to making sure our experience was exceptional and they succeeded!
In summary this ranch experience was a unique way for the two of us to relax and still stay very active. The ranch is beautifully located in the mountains. Expect to do lots of walking up and down slight elevations - it is not for the mobility challenged.
Three delicious meals are served each day in the beautiful main house or in the cookout area.
In addition to horseback riding we learned to fly fish in the Shoshone River, thanks to our excellent fishing guide. All fishing gear was first class and supplied for our use. We also took in skeet shooting and river rafting. All these activities are included with no added costs.
We met so many wonderful other guests and their children during our week stay.
I can recommend this place for a couple (as we are) or for a multi generational family. In fact, I believe a single person could equally enjoy every aspect of the scenery and majesty of this dude ranch located on the edge of Yellowstone National Park.

This was one of the best family vacations we've had! Kenny and Laura and all of the staff welcomed us as family as soon as we stepped foot on the property. Riding horses, hiking, fishing, archery, ax throwing, trip to Yellowstone - these were all amazing experiences. We loved our horses and could not get enough of the breathtaking scenery during our trail rides! Our favorite part of each day was sitting down to homecooked meals and sharing our stories with the other guests and the staff. Because the ranch is tucked high up in the mountains there is absolutely no wifi, which was a beautiful gift for our family. Our 15 year old forgot all about her phone and ran out of the cabin each morning ready to ride the trails! Our cabin was comfortable and cozy and all the staff are welcoming, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Thank you Kenny and Laura - you go above and beyond to make Crossed Sabres Ranch an exceptional experience!

Crossed Sabres Ranch

The Long Family has captured the essence of the ideal dude ranch vacation. Their all inclusive plan includes every activity(whitewater rafting, Yellowstone visit, Cody rodeo, daily trail riding, fly fishing, Skeet, BB shooting, archery and hiking). You can enjoy all of these activities or simply read on your porch enjoying the majestic scenery surrounding the ranch.

The lodge, complete with pool table, Foosball, games and Libby Creek Saloon affords a recap of your day with fellow guests and staff/wranglers.
The delicious meals can be modified for dietary restrictions and family seating/ service is exceptional. The Long Family and their resident wranglers/fishing guides join you for meals which truly enhances the ranch family atmosphere.
Mikayla, the media wrangler, captures every adventure for you, as you’re immersed in all the fun. Family vans for all excursions are just one example of the attention to detail and carefully executed planning by the Long Family.

Crossed Sabres Ranch is the perfect size venue for multi-generational families and our 11 person group ranged in age from 11 to 71. Every one of us said “ best vacation ever” and “when can we return again”? It truly is western hospitality at its best and difficult to leave at weeks end.
Thank you to Laura, Kenny, Justin, Rachel and Garret for the “ Vacation of a Lifetime”! The Frommer, Hardy and Coyne Families

We had the most amazing week with extended family at Crossed Sabres Ranch. The staff was outstanding from the owners who made you feel right at home to the wranglers and cabin staff. Amazing food, wonderful accommodations and fantastic views. We enjoyed guided hiking and horseback riding through the beautiful mountain trails, square dancing, family friendly rafting, a night at the rodeo and a guided trip through Yellowstone. Everything was thoughtfully planned and coordinated and our only decision each morning was what activity we wanted to do that day (fishing, hiking, riding, or just relaxing). There was no cell phone service and it allowed us to just fully reconnect with family and make new friends. Our kids are already begging to go back!

We just spent a memorable week with Kenny, Laura, Garrett and their entire staff soaking up ranch life. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family! All the amazing meals are home-cooked and allow families and their new friends the opportunity to slow down, fellowship, and share their adventures of the day. Before dinner, everyone gathers in the saloon to play pool, foosball, board games etc while enjoying hors d'oeuvres. Different entertainment is offered each night from campfire singers to square dancing callers. Each guest is paired with a horse for the week that matches his/her riding ability and all of our teenagers bonded instantly with the wranglers. The views on our rides were breathtaking. Whether you love fly fishing, ax throwing, amazing hikes, reading a book or a trip to Yellowstone and the rodeo....Crossed Sabres has it covered! They even have a photographer who captures your special moments along the way. The cabins are so quiet and cozy and we woke up rested for more fun. There are no tvs or cell service to distract from the majestic beauty of Wyoming. This was truly a vacation of special memories and new-found friends from all over the globe that we will never forget!

Like everyone else, I have to agree. This was the trip of a lifetime! The purpose of the trip was to create a memory for my only grandson with my two boys. We were Cowboys for a week, adopting our own cowboy names. We had a chance to go horseback riding, trail hiking, fly fishing, skeet shooting, touring Yellowstone one day, river rafting the next, hatchet throwing and archery. After hours, we could meet in the saloon over a drink or two for a little pool hustling, foosball, card games, etc. One night we even enjoyed square dancing. (Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it - it’s a hoot!)

The food was plentiful and delicious! The mountain setting, and individual cabins were cozy and warm. And I can’t say enough about the wranglers – food wranglers, horse wranglers, cabin wranglers – every one of them made us feel like family members. There were times we laughed so hard our sides hurt. We arrived at the ranch as complete strangers. We left there as extended family members. Thank you, Kenny, Laura and Garrett. Thank you for opening your home and sharing your ranch experience. I’ll have to come back with my granddaughters now.
