Great place to relax and enjoy the real Dells. Before all of the water parks, fast food, and tacky t-shirt shops, the Dells was known for its natural beauty along the Wisconsin River. That still exists, although it may take a little effort to find it amidst all of the hideous billboards, and the Cedar Lodge is a great part of that heritage. Located on the river with its own beautiful beach, the property is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of it all while still being a short distance from any destination you might want to go to, whether water park or a nature hike Stayed on the second floor of the main building in a vey large room with king bed, two recliners, a pull-out couch, microwave, small fridge, and private balcony with a great view. Finishes are rustic, and place was immaculate. Nothing fancy, but very comfortable and much preferred (and cheaper) than the many chains and waterpark resorts. If you’re looking for a relaxing get away, this is the place.

Stayed in a river view unit with beautiful vaulted ceilings and a rustic feel with large patio doors that led to a deck to let the sun shine in the room. We were the recipient of a picturesque view up and down the river. We also were lucky enough to see a bald eagle nearby. The room was very clean and spacious, it had everything you needed including a microwave, small fridge, coffee maker. Two lounge recliners in the room were used when we had a nightcap and rocking in them felt like you were in the northwoods. It has a television that was not even turned on because the view was so pretty. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The heating unit was a little loud for my sleep, but that's the only negative. Parking lot in front of the units made it easy to unload and load. It felt quiet and secluded, and was perfect for a little winter getaway.

+1
Our family of 4, with 20-something children, had a terrific stay in a bunk bed room. It had a refrigerator, microwave, dishes, silverware, mugs, and glasses. The suite was quite spacious and had a wonderful balcony with a picnic table. Our room on the second floor #18 overlooked the Wisconsin River. It truly was a beautiful view! The property had a beach, grassy area with seating, and was next door to the excellent Pub and Grub restaurant.
Also next door is the Rivers Edge boat rental. It only cost $80.00 to rent a fishing boat for the entire day! We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this hotel.

In May we started looking for lodging for a family of 8 for late July and little was available. This is how we ended up with 2 side by side cabins here. Pros first - clean, great front porch on cabins, 10 minutes from Dells attractions, friendly staff, property on river (but not cabins), next to good restaurant Rivers Edge. Cons - cabins poorly designed, with bathroom entrance thru 1st floor bedroom! Upstairs loft bedroom is accessed with a ladder, not a real staircase, would kill yourself trying to take a suitcase up there. Shower is tiny. There’s a big tub, but you’ll run out of hot water before it’s filled. Cabins are very close together in a row so that you really can’t avoid seeing & hearing your neighbors. It is NOT a nature experience, especially with the Duck vehicles going by on the road in front of the cabins literally every 10 minutes from morning till night. Cabins were very pricy, as much per couple as you’d pay for a top notch resort. And you had to strip the beds & take trash to dumpster yourself! We’d never stay in the cabins again, but would consider a river facing lodge hotel room due to the great location. They offer you tickets to 3 area attractions but we didn’t want or use any of them & would have preferred they not be offered cause I’m sure we paid for them in the lodging price.

Just lovely. We’re on night three of a three night stay, and I just had to do a quick review so I don’t get bogged down with real life and forget later. Wonderful property. We’re in a river view room, which feels all the world like a cabin. The cabins across the street look cute as can be, and honestly are close enough that I wouldn’t worry too much about the lack of a direct river view.
These river rooms are joyous. Motel style, so you have patio doors on the west and east side. Even in these chilly temps of 30 degrees, management has wood and supplies set out for a beautiful evening fire if you choose to build one and relax on their Adirondack chairs.
Highly recommend.

I wanted a very quiet place to sleep and this was just the ticket. It's solid construction so you don't hear the neighbors. In fact I didn't even know anyone had come to the inn after me until I woke up and looked outside and saw 6 vehicles. I had room 12 and that is upper and nice view of the river. 2 recliners and king bed.
The only 2 nit picky things are: whatever they sprayed the room with for scent was not needed and a little overwhelming. I opened the patio door to air it out. The other was the toilet seat was chipped and scratched.[ A new one would be just the ticket] Other then those things it was worth evey penny. It was very clean!

Very nice lodge with lovely views. We had a second floor king bed which was large with vaulted ceiling. Two recliners faced the sliding doors which made watching the river from inside on a chilly rainy day feel special. Rooms are much nicer than in photos with accent lighting and tasteful eagle decorations throughout. Full size coffee maker and large deck. Very nice property in quiet area with nice outdoor yard area. Much nicer than expected.

We LOVED this place. The grounds were beautiful. Our daughter loved the pool, my husband loved the opportunity to fish on the river, and I loved the beautiful views and peaceful surroundings. Our river view lodge room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The pictures on their website don’t do it justice. Tickets to Noah’s Ark and the Big Cat rescue made this trip perfect, and we much preferred staying here over a crowded hotel.

We’ve stayed here several times and never had any problems until this year. Although it’s a beautiful place and the staff are nice, the lack of management shows. It is no longer family friendly. I am lying in bed at 2:15 a.m. with extremely loud neighbors cursing hoping my kids haven’t heard it. There’s no one to call to report the these things like there would be If there were a traditional front desk. There also seems to be a room that some parents booked just for their kids, and they’ve been running all over the place being loud and disrespectful. In the daytime, there was a large group of people with an actual camping tent blasting music and leaving garbage everywhere. A bit of oversight from management would make this place worth coming back to, but until that happens, we won’t be back, unfortunately.

Cedar Lodge is such a peaceful getaway from the busy Downtown Dells. My sister and I stayed in a Riverview room. I believe this would be a great place for a family vacation with the different rooms and cabins available. I appreciated the owner wearing a mask during check-in.

No. They have a very strict policy about pets. But you'll see why when you see how gorgeous the resort is:)
Certain units have their own grills and others have access to shared grills.
check their website to be sure, but i'm pretty sure dogs are NOT allowed.
i doubt youd even be disturbing anyone in the suites. the build quality as far as thickness of walls and floors is far above any modern hotel ive seen. the cabins are also semi private in placement so that would certainly be advantageous.
No we have an outdoor heated pool. Some of our rooms offer jetted tubs or hot tubs. But no outdoor hot tub. We offer water park passes to Noah's Ark memorial day - labor day.
