This is the place to stay if you are spending time in the Driftless area. We have stayed at the Westby House multiple times; we are never disappointed. Marie and Mike are great innkeepers providing a quite refuge after a busy day and a great breakfast to start off your day. This time we stayed in one of the cottage rooms. It was all that it should be comfy, cozy and comfortable. This room is not for the faint of heart though. The cottage has a long, narrow and steep spiral staircase. The first level has a seating area, kitchenette and the loo. The sleeping area is on the upper level. One needs to be very sure-footed, especially during the night. Although I prefer rooms in the main house, I would not hesitate to rent the cottage. Marie sets up a very nice continental breakfast in the cottage. It was perfect. Thanks Marie and Mike, until next time.

Our Guest Lodge rooms, as talked about here, are just one of many different lodging experiences we offer. Though the room features are nontraditional from our true bed and breakfast rooms, they do give you your own private outdoor entrance, continental breakfast for you to enjoy on your schedule not ours, and the open loft bedroom gives you that cozy feel of sleeping in a treehouse with the knotty pine walls and ceiling! As for the stairs to the loft yes, you do need to take into consideration the navigation of them before booking either the Pinewood Room of Scandia Room. Our B&B rooms in the Main House are on the second floor with a normal flight of stairs, while the Guest House rooms are first floor accommodations. Our staff loved the 5-star review! Thank you ColleenbB68CT.

My wife and I recently took a very impromptu Holiday Weekend trip. It was so impromptu that as we got in the car on Friday after lunch that we had not even selected a direction to go. We just started to drive and eventually chose "west" as our goal. In passing Madison we thought that we should look for a cool place to stay, and as we love to visit B&Bs we started there. We eventually landed upon the Westby Inn and were a bit concerned as this was a same-day reservation that we were shooting for. We booked on our phone and soon received a call from Marie asking when we would be arriving. She normally doesn't take same day bookings, but was very gracious and did not refuse us. We arrived to a very well kept Inn in the very small town of Westby just outside of Viroqua Wisconsin. As the online booking only showed one night available we were going to move on after Friday night. When we mentioned this to Marie she immediately informed us that was the case only because the room we selected was booked on Saturday. She did have another room that was available for 2 nights. She took us up to see it and we immediately booked it. It was the Tower Room which has an extra sitting room with chairs and a couch which we put to good use. The Inn has some chocolates, beer, soda, wine and ice cream for sale. All on the "honor system" in the lobby. Just write your room name on a piece of paper that is provided along with what you selected and they will add it to the bill at the end of your stay. There is coffee and ice available 24 hours a day in the main hallway for your use with the in-room coffee makers. The breakfasts were wonderful and inventive. This B&B is on my list for a future visit to the area

I stayed here for one night for work with my companion. I travel quite a bit for work and when I can "stay local", I will. In hindsight I feel a little guilty booking this because it was the off-season and we were the only guests. We were a little late checking in, but our hostess (Marie) didn't seem to mind. She gave us a great run-through of the inn before disappearing. We left and drove 10 minutes to the exceptional Driftless Cafe in nearby Viroqua. A James Beard winning place in a small rural community. During warmer months I'm sure I'd sit out other porch or patio with a cold adult beverage and watch the world go by. We stayed in the only room with a king bed. It was firm, the sheets were soft. My only concern is the bed is tall. My vertically-challenged mom, who is 89, and travels a lot would have difficult time getting into bed without a small stool. There is WiFi at the inn. If you have ATT as a cell provider you're coverage in the area is spotty at best. In fact, I had to use the house phone to make a local call. There is a small refrigerator in the common area stocked with beer, wine and soft drinks using the honor system. I had to head out for work early Sunday and I thought I'd miss breakfast, but when I came it was waiting for me. It consisted of warm scones (first scone I ever liked); yogurt with fruit, French toast with strawberries and perfectly done bacon. It was great. That being said, I would I prefer egg dishes for breakfast rather the carbs because it gets me through the day. Personal preference that isn't a knock on the inn. Bathroom was well-lit and spacious. The shower head was mounted too low (it's an old building), but it made up for it with water pressure like a fire hose & lots of hot water. I highly recommend.

Our Wisconsin location is in the heart of the Driftless area that also covers parts of Minnesota and Iowa. A visit here will give you a great admiration for the hills and valleys created 1,000's and 1,000's of years ago. Dining at the Driftless Café is a culinary must and, we sure can make reservation for you! If you desire a king bed, it is in the spacious Westby Room. There happens to be a step stool for those who need it tucked under the TV stand, so don't worry if you think the bed looks to tall in the web site pictures. Thank you Mark for sharing your experience with our future guests! We really appreciate this wonderful review and hope you can enjoy a future stay.
