We stayed at the only campground on Washington Island. Looking at the pictures and going based off the information given to me over the phone it seemed like it was going to surpass expectations. It did not surpass expectations, and left us wondering what the heck by the time we left. We stayed from a Sunday - Friday (plenty of...

We have stayed at the Washington Island Campground for many years around Columbus day. That is at the end of the season and it is always pretty empty. Over the past few years, it has shown signs of its age and some heavy use by campers who may not have been very respectful of others. This is the only campground...

The campground itself is decent, shaded sites with pretty good privacy. The sites are not all that level... we had a difficult time getting our camper level. But once we were set up we enjoyed the site. The bathrooms however were not well-maintained. Stalls frequently out of toilet paper, crickets in the urinals, gross shower curtains, and just generally dirty....

We rented a cabin here with our 3 teen children. There was plenty of room, and for the most part the cabin was perfect. (a few spider webs, but Wisconsin doesn't have any dangerous spiders). The swimming pond was pretty cool. They have a neat inflatable in the middle that we had a lot of fun on. The only down...

We rented a cabin for one night at the campground on this beautiful Island. We had our three children with us and did not want to tent camp, so this was a great option for the family. The cabin itself was fine and what we expected. Lots of sleeping space. Refrigerator and microwave were clean as was the sink/changing room...

Stayed over Labor Day weekend in one of cabins. Had stayed in it once before and the tented several years back. Always enjoy wondering the beaches and seeing the area attractions. Cabins are nice w/microwave and small fridge. A good (small) addition would be hooks in the sink/changing room. Also rubber matts in the public bathrooms so you aren't stepping...

We stayed in one of their "park models' which had seen some heavy activity over the years. We did bring this to the attention of the owners who were very nice. We also stayed in our tent a few nights as well. Campground was quiet and all of the spaces available offer a decent amount of privacy. Our kids loved...

We stayed in one of the cabins with a family of five, and it worked out well. The cabin we stayed in was closer to the main building than most of the campsites. I believe our cabin was a little older than the others, but it was still nice. The floors could have used a good cleaning; the kids had...

This is a nice campground to stay at if you are looking to spend time on Washington Island. It is not the kind of place that has hiking or a beach, but it is a good spot to set up a homebase in order to explore and enjoy the island. Campsites are on the smaller side but they are wooded...

Washington Island Camping Retreat is a campground on Washington Island at the tip of Door County. The ferry ride across the lake to Washington Island takes about 30 minutes and the kids love it. You can get out of the car and sit up in the top of the boat and look at the islands you pass. The campground is...

“I don't think you can choose a "bad" camping spot-however if you need access to a bathroom try and pick a spot closest to the main lodge. There is another pit toilet farther in the campground also.”
