Detailed Reviews
My husband and I were guests at the Heritage Inn B&B in October for a long weekend. Nancy, the proprietor was very welcoming. She gave us a quick tour of the home, showed us where breakfast would be set up in the morning, gave us some background on the room we stayed in (The Charlotte).
A long-time Viroqua resident, she was able to recommend places to visit in Viroqua and beyond.
The B&B was just down the street from the main thoroughfare, so it was conveniently located.
Our accommodations were comfortable, including a very large (and high) bed, and a private bathroom and shower.
After we got home we realized we left the specialty cheeses from the farmer’s market, in the B&B fridge. Nancy was generous enough to agree to ship it to us.
We were glad to have stayed.

We have stayed at the Viroqua Heritage Inn on several occasions for long weekends, staying in a variety of the rooms. We have always enjoyed the property, the town, and the hospitality provided by Nancy. The rooms are all spacious and tastefully decorated (bibliophiles in particular will love the inn) and the inn conveniently located just off of Main Street. We are eagerly looking forward to our next visit to Viroqua and our next stay at the Viroqua Heritage Inn!

We felt welcome and comfortable from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. It’s close to everything from fantastic restaurants, the farmers’ market, and multiple self-guided walking tours. The owner pays attention to every detail and makes sure her guests’ needs are met.

+1
This B &B is looked two blocks from Viroqua's vibrant downtown and is in walking distance from the acclaimed Driftless Cafe and the charming Temple Theater.
Parking in on the street, but you'll have no problem finding a space. Despite plenty of snow, the owners made sure there was a large shoveled out space from the street to the sidewalk.
Our first-floor room with a king-sized bed was spacious and cozy.. The bed was firm and comfortable. The private bathroom could be shut off from the rest of the suite. It was odd-shaped, but that's what you need to do with large historic property.
There is a large porch in front. In the summer I can see sitting out there with friends socializing and having few adult beverages just watching the world pass by.
The front parlor was comfortable to hang out in after before turning in for the night.
There are a few nits I would pick.
We made our reservation weeks in advance and we like to have a king size bed so we both sleep well. A couple nights before our stay we received a call from the inn asking us if we would consider switching rooms to a room on the second floor without a king bed. We were told a person with mobility challenges wanted a first floor room. We declined.
It was awkward.
Most B & Bs have a warm breakfast in the morning. This one had fruit, juice, water and scones available. I don't like scones, so I didn't have any. My partner said they weren't completely baked and were "doughy".
I guess for $140 it was fine not having a warm breakfast in the morning, but I think it's a nice touch.
The final nit is the first floor room didn't have latch on the sliding pocket door.
Average is not bad and I would stay here again. It's not plush like Madison's Mansion Hill Inn, but it comfortable and I'm pretty sure it's one of the best places to stay in the Driftless Area.

What a beautiful place! And Nancy is delightful. We have been going to the Driftless area for the last 20 years and staying at various locales, but normally closer to LaCrosse or Platteville. This was our first stay at Viroqua Heritage Inn and we would definitely return. Loved the charming home and it’s convenience to downtown. While hubby fished, I enjoyed shopping; walking; and the ambiance of my lodging. Reading and quilting in the beautiful parlor, surrounded by lovely artifacts of a bygone time, was very much appreciated. The fresh coffee, fruit, and pastries for breakfast were generous and delicious. We will be back!

Thank you very much. It is very important to me that each and every guest feels as you do. I really enjoyed meeting you and I know the other guests did also. Hope to see you again soon. Your quilting project was very pretty.

The central location was perfect for a walk downtown. The host was excellent and so accommodating. The living room on the main floor was perfectly relaxing and quiet to get work done, yet a pleasant environment to chat with fellow guests. My room was beautiful and clean!

Overall somewhat disappointing. We had hoped to stay in the Boyle house but were told it would not be open until June so we were given the Tubb room in the Eckhart house. The room was very tiny with no room to put personal belongings. We had to rely on the air conditioner since the windows didn't have screens and so couldn't be opened. The air conditioner was less than arm's length from the bed which meant we had cold air blowing directly at our heads - uncomfortable and noisy. Breakfast was ordinary: a muffin (only one flavor, no choice of pastries), string cheese, yogurt, fruit; no hot items. Definitely sub-par compared to other b&b's we've visited. The parlor and dining area were very cluttered so finding a place to sit and eat was awkward. Great Victorian house, good location.

Response from Nancy Rhodes, Owner at Viroqua Heritage Inn

My apologies if you were not happy with the Tubb Room. My website advises that we do not use the Boyle House all year. We have five beautiful guestrooms in the Eckhart House. Photos are on the website. Each Victorian property has one smaller room which was provided for staff back then. I hope that this guest will come back again and make a reservation for one of the larger rooms.

The Heritage Inn of Viroqua lived up to its name. The over 100 year old home is filled with historical treasures. The location near Viroqua’s vibrant downtown made it a fun place to stay. The grounds include a fire pit, gorgeous deck and greenery. Our pup enjoyed watching the 6 chickens in a coop. Nancy was a gracious host. We would definitely recommend this place.

We have stayed here multiple times and have loved it every time. Very comfortable rooms. Welcoming innkeeper. I would describe breakfast as upscale continental. Fresh bakery, fruit, hardboiled eggs right from the chickens out back, juice, yogurt, etc. Many wonderful restaurants within walking distance. It's a special place.

This is our second time visiting and we really enjoy it. It's within walking distance to downtown and Nancy is great! There are always fresh fruits, snacks in the frig, juices and good coffee available. It's an eclectic property but that's part of the charm for us! We will definitely go back because we love Viroqua!
