Great hospitality and amazing views. Despite the lobby being busy, I was helped at the desk very quickly and the service was friendly. The restaurant/lounge was excellent. I definitely plan on returning.

The hotel has some great views & the staff was really nice. However, it needs to be updated. The first thing we noticed in our room was the funky smell. Then the run down furniture & especially the carpet. The bathroom fan was obnoxiously loud & on the same switch as the light so if you want the light, the fan turns on. There was what appeared to be mold on the bathroom walls. Towels were small & thin. No housekeeping was done between our 2 day stay so we called for extra towels which they said they’d bring to our room. 2 hours later my husband went to get them himself. They gave him 2. He mentioned we needed 3 & they gave him a very thin small one only slightly bigger than the bath mat. The coffee by the front desk was a nice touch, but was empty half the time. The potential for this hotel is huge, but I’m sure the impact of covid hit them hard.…

Thank you for staying with us. We apologize that you did not enjoy your stay. Due to our staffing issues, we do not clean your room while you are here unless requested. This should have been stated to you at check in and we will address this with our staff. The staff tries to keep up with the coffee but when you have only one person working they may not get to it right away since they are also answering phones and helping guests. We are working hard trying to staff up just like all the other businesses in the area. Hopefully this staffing shortage trend ends soon but it has been going on since Covid. Rating Barkers Island Inn as merely average. Had dinner in the restaurant the the food was inedible. 3 of us ordered a Oktoberfest entree and when the plates arrived, the food looked horrific. Chicken schnitzel was pounded then and instead of being sautéed in butter in a pan, it was deep fried rendering it like tasteless cardboard. It was covered in a heavy sauce. Schnitzel is finished with a fresh squeeze of lemon. The spaetzel was bloated from sitting in water and too salty to eat. It too, should have been sautéed in a pan with butter to make it crispy. The red cabbage was dried. The whole thing should never have been served. It was prison food at best. I had to order a second meal which also had quality issues. Server was inexperienced and clueless. We should have been comped. Would never eat here again. Order a delivery pizza instead.…

No issues, very pleasant two night stay! My travel companion complimented me on finding this property. I would stay again. Desk/Gift Shop area should stock jackets or sweatshirts; they missed a sale. Instead only t-shirts, jewelry, postcards, mugs, etc. Didn't try the pool, hot tub or sauna- but all were popular. The whole place didn't smell of chlorine. The rooms not-poolside are quieter. Great parking lot size. You are on an island. There are few trees. Take a jacket. Great views of Duluth at night and occasional ships.

Just driving into the front entrance was a disappointment. Ungroomed lawn and weeds everywhere. We were advised to park on side parking lot-boats everywhere, dirty and side door didn’t shut and lock. Room was so average, very damp floor needed to wear shoes the entire time, and room door didn’t shut and lock. 1 positive-woman bartender very nice. Would not recommend-would not stay again.

We are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us. The island is all sand and we had a dry summer which is why most of the grass is weeds. We do mow and do the trimming weekly. Our room was clean, but you couldn’t shut the bathroom door without slamming it. The closet door you couldn’t open 1 side. The carpet felt damp and cold. You had to wear your shoes all the time. We were very disappointed and would not recommend this place to anyone.

Great location, ideal for work Was over for work on the refinery, normally i'd stay at the holiday inn, but was after something different. Barkers island was it. Ideal for work, i noticed at the in wear at breakfast was Nomex.

Beds were good. Missing the morning hot breakfast that the restaurant use to provide. Now that covid is pretty much overwith I would certainly bring it back. I see that Holiday Inn just down the road shows that they have it and about the same price. Super 8 shows grab and go like here now but much cheaper room rates.

I would recommend this place and would stay again, but also would recommend to the hotel that they would provide better and bigger towels for their customers. Also, a hot breakfast buffet would be a nice addition to the stay.

This place had really everything we needed. Though the resturant wasn't open, there is a Denny's next door. It was clean, the staff was freindly and it was quiet. It's an older hotel/conference center, so you're not getting anything fancy because it is dated, (but I'll bet beautiful in it's day). You can't beat the marina view we had. if you're not a super picky this hotel serves it's purpose.
