The Lodge is beautiful on the inside. However the parking lot could have been cleaner since we stayed there in January. It was snow covered and icy. We had booked a room with a hot tub, fireplace and kitchenette. The hot tub and fire place were very nice. The room temperature was only at about 55 when we arrived. There was no stove of full refrigerator and the dining table only had one chair. There were two of us that stayed in the room. There were no black out curtains so the room was not very dark at night for sleeping. There was no way to turn off the light outside on the patio. The shower had mold on the rubber of the shower door. The hall way where our room was located was very cold.
My family and I decided to go out to dinner here on Christmas day, thinking it was going to be a nice sit down restaurant that we could all enjoy together, well we were very wrong. Food was uncooked on two dishes and drinks did not come until our meal even came. Service was not good either, dirty plates were not picked up until we got served our dessert, which our pie was still frozen. Not worth a nice dinner, could of went to McDonalds to get big macs and it would of been better.
The pictures do not give a true picture of this place. I booked a room here (in June) for the end of September 2022. This place is dated and falling apart. In the whole time we stayed I did not see one maid in the hallway or on the premises. The grounds had plastic white chairs, an old medal umbrella in one of the pool areas. There were plenty of lights outside the building but none of them were lit. The hallways were full of leaves which were still not vacuumed up in the morning after our 10am breakfast. Our room's carpet was full of stains and I am not talking small. I am talking 5 x 12 inches. The carpet was ripped As in all places they were short on staff so the ice machine was empty, with a empty cooler placed next to it. I had to walk to the kitchen to get ice. The parking lot had a street light with a bunch of big stones on top at it base. They were stacked 3 feet high with chicken wire around them. When I mentioned our stained carpet both to the night shift and the morning shift, neither person said or did anything about moving us or making it right. This hotel had no black out blinds and people who were on the parking lot side had headlights in there windows at night. They gave no apology or no effort to give us another room. Stay away from this place. It is ready for the boneyard.…
My husband and I decided to take a last minute overnight trip to Door County, and this was one of the few hotels with vacancy. It looks like this hotel had been quite nice, back in the day, but no longer. Our room was not in the main building, and we, and others, had difficulty locating the building. The outside was very dirty. There was an unplugged chest freezer by the ice machine, that was not emptied after defrosted, and smelled. No vending. The building itself smelled musty. The coffee maker in our room had not been cleaned. There was blood on the patio door. Tiles missing from the wall, along with what looked like holes where a possible hairdryer had been. The bathtub looked dirty, but may have just been worn. Decided to skip showering, to be safe. No phone in the room, only one in the little lobby area when you walked in the building. The towels were very thin. We paid $166 for the night, before taxes. I complained and showed pictures when I checked out, but was not offered a discount.…
This hotel did not even come close to resembling what was expected based on its price. The room was dark with stained ripped carpet, cracked wall plaster, missing grout in shower, and no blow dryer where one clearly used to hang on the bathroom room wall. The hallways and entrance’s were littered with leaves from outside with no cleaning staff in sight. Also, a broken ice maker with a large cooler next to it also empty with no ice. The exterior was dirty and neglected with most of the outdoor lighting non functional. The only redeeming parts were the evening bartender and morning front desk girl. A huge letdown with a high price. I don’t recommend…
Enjoyed the comfort, cleanliness, stellar staff, lovely grounds, lodge & water views. Booked a Bayside room, no frills, but clean, cozy, w/small patio & water/bridge view. A hidden gem w/great access.
We had a wonderful stay as it was our anniversary and was looking for somewhere in Sturgeon bay. What surprised me the most was that the Leathem Smith Lodge had availability from booking my stay one week before. Thank goodness since everything is always booked up during the months of July and August. The lodge also provided a breakfast for us in the morning which we loved alot. The tiki bar outside on grounds was great and also had music on certain nights that added to our enjoyment. The second night we took in a meal while sitting outside by the water and boat dock. The evening was absolutely beautiful as our waitress served us by the setting sun as we watched the boats go sailing by. Our room was wonderful and the bed was comfortable. They stopped by to check to see if we needed more clean towels or anything in general. Everyone made sure our stay was great!! …
Luckily we only had to stay one night. We arrived at 2:30 pm and were told we had to wait until 3:00 to check in, so we waited at the Tiki Bar out front, which was great. At 3:00,everyone who was staying in the hotel was waiting in line to check in, so it took until almost 4:00 for us to check into our room. There was only 1 person doing check in for the long line of people. We were lucky, our room was ready, there were a lot of people who were still waiting for their room to be cleaned. When we got to our room, it was dingy. The bathroom didn't look clean at all, the tub floor was grimy and discolored, there was hair in the corners and black mold in the grout lines. My husband tried to take a shower, but there was absolutely no lever or pull to get the shower head going. We looked and checked everything for 15 minutes. We were on the ground floor, so we had a sliding patio door. There were cheap curtains that were pretty see through, no blackout type curtains, so you could see the headlights of every car that went in the parking lot. The beds were comfortable, and at least the sheets looked/felt clean. The breakfast the next morning was also disappointing. The coffee was served out of tiny Styrofoam cups and the coffee tasted burnt. The omelet bar was there, but there was no one to make it, and I was certainly not going to cook one myself. I wouldn't recommend this stay.…
For the price, I had high expectations, but this was terrible. The patio was narrow with mismatched dirty, spider-webbed plastic chairs. The curtain hardware fell several times as I tried to adjust the curtains. The towels were old and scratchy. The room was very basic - on the level of a motel 6 or less - but apparently clean, however, I was forced to wear shoes because I didn't like the feel of the carpet. The "free" breakfast wasn't worth the price. Breakfast was supposed to be served until 10:00, but they ran out of food and coffee around 9:30 and didn't restock. Overall, this is an old hotel that is past its prime. There is a restaurant, but it didn't open for the three nights of my stay. On a positive note, the hotel is about a mile from the downtown area where there are tap rooms, restaurants, and shopping.…
I can’t believe the horrible reviews this place has. We were definitely nervous staying here. It was one of only 2 places with a room on July 3, so I booked with very low expectations. It ended up being great! We had room 206…one bedroom, kitchenette, living room, 2-sided fireplace in bedroom and living room. HUGE 2 person jacuzzi and big bathroom. It was a bit dated but very clean and comfortable. There was an outdoor seating area with an outdoor bar. Drinks were really good! The free breakfast is terrific…made to order omelets! The desk attendant was super sweet when we checked in. The ONLY things I can knock them for…the older outdoor bartenders could be hags (we saw them being rude to a couple of customers and they definitely were not pleasant people to have behind a bar) and they just seemed like they did not want to be there. And, the coffee cups at breakfast are those super small styrofoam cups that hold like 2/3 cup of coffee and don’t have lids. Those cups suck. Overall, great stay and we’d definitely pick this place again. (Oh…but if it matters to you, the pool is CLOSED and doesn’t look like it will reopen anytime soon. Bummer because it’s huge!)…
