The Silver Star B&B Inn can be described as elegant but casual and is without a doubt interesting and out of the ordinary. Located on a private 70 acre estate, it is perfect for a quiet getaway, reunions, retreats, or to simply connect with nature. Take the time to commune with birds and other wildlife, while enjoying the extensive gardens from the front porch. The inn is located only a few minutes from major area attractions such as Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin, American Players Theatre, House on the Rock, Governor Dodge State Park, and river canoeing.

Detailed Reviews
What with Covid-19 going on, we were fortunate enough to have been able to book accomdations at this very nice B&B only 4 days in advance of a spontaneous get-away.
The drive to the site over country roads winding through, and up and down forested hills gives a taste of whats to come. The two story log building has a long deck with seating available and we took our breakfasts there. The downstairs indoor dining area is large and comfortable, as well as the adjacent living room area. The building is set way back behind some trees in an area that has no close neighbors. It is nestled among hills with splendid relaxing veiws. The hummingbirds were plentiful and quite the airshow along with wood peckers and grosbeaks in the gardens off the porch. The accommodations are very clean and everything works.
The breakfasts were delicious and sufficient. Wine and beer is available from a mini-fridge on the 1st floor for a nominal fee.
A local informed us the current proprietors are different from those of a few years ago, and the former ones weren't, ah....shall we say very nice. Elise and Kevin were great. Thanks Elise and Kevin for a great stay.

This is a beautiful, comfortable inn set in the lovely rolling terrain of the driftless Wisconsin area. The public spaces are open, airy, bright and comfortable with cathedral ceilings and overstuffed couches and chairs. Our bedroom was spacious, well-lit (a real important feature for us, who find too many B&B rooms under-lit), impeccably clean and with a comfortable bed and sufficient surfaces for suitcases, books, keys, maps, and all the other detritus travelers accumulate. The grounds are beautifully designed, planted and cared for. Breakfast are delicious and eye-appealing. Elise and Kevin are warm, solicitous and gracious hosts. Can't recommend it highly enough.

My husband and I were looking for a quick 2 day getaway on the Harley and we were looking for a quaint town and a nice BnB. We found the perfect place at the Silver Star B&B Inn. Elise and Kevin are the wonderful owners of this little gem and we were blown away by their hospitality. The rooms are incredibly comfortable and beautifully decorated. Just lovely! You can tell they work hard to keep up with the property both inside and out. The gardens are so charming and Elise will include fresh veggies and herbs in her delicious breakfast served on the humming bird porch. Here we enjoyed great conversation with them and other guests. Kevin has added some nice hiking trails on the property and we made sure to catch the sunset overlooking the valley. Just picture perfect. There is much more I could share but you should just go and find out for yourself. You will not be
disappointed.

+1
Tucked away in a bright, verdant, corner of the Driftless Region in the American Midwest, the Silver Star Inn is a retreat like no other for travelers to Spring Green, Wisconsin. This bed and breakfast is a peaceful setting with comfortable rooms, gracious hosts, and delicious food.
The location is a few short miles of scenic pastoral landscape from Spring Green. The only traffic we experienced was a tractor on its way to a family farm. Once there, you can hear the cicadas, crickets, and birds along with the breeze blowing through the nearby trees. There are walking paths with butterflies and other wildlife to see. It is an edenic setting that will refresh your soul.
Our room, called "The Secret Hideaway," was tucked away on the lower level with two entryways, one leading out to a spacious patio. The room itself had a couple full beds and a futon. The bathroom is good sized with a nice shower. There is a TV we never turned on, but I'm confident it would work if anyone required screen time (I did not). There are dehumidifiers, fans and other devices that made the room extremely comfortable despite temperatures in the 90's while we were there.
Your hosts, Elise and Kevin, are welcoming and give you a quick "lay of the land" upon arrival. There is a refrigerator for you to store your refreshments, but they provide wonderful baked goods, lemonade, iced tea (we came for Labor Day weekend) and other items in the small community kitchenette. There are plenty of comfortable sofas, chairs and other amenities that have been thoughtfully laid out for guests who are just relaxing on site. You'll see Kevin around the property during the day, and busily feeding guest at breakfast as he is the main chef. Elise greets you, shows you around, and introduces you to the ensemble cast of animals such as the family dog, chickens, and hummingbirds. Almost immediately, you feel welcomed.
As you can see from the pictures, the food is as visually appealing as it is appetizing. Fresh fruit, vegetables grown on site and eggs from the resident chickens combine for a great meal to start your day. Everything was delicious and you are served at your table with plenty of coffee and juice available. Outstanding!
If you are going to American Players Theater for shows, checking out the local art and music scene, taking in the beauty of southwestern Wisconsin, or checking out the home and inspiration of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the Silver Star Bed and Breskfast Inn is a excellent choice for your lodging needs.

This was our second stay at Silver Star Inn. Both stays were incredible! The rooms are charming with comfortable beds and pillows.
The natural fireplace in the common area offers a great setting to enjoy the evening, to curl up with a book, or to catch up with friends.
The breakfasts are beautifully presented, and so flavorful. Many of the items served are sourced from the grounds of the Inn—fresh eggs, home made applesauce, rhubarb and berries, to name those we’ve enjoyed.
Winter activities are plentiful in the surrounding area. We hiked on the Silver Star grounds up to the bluff to take in majestic views—you can see for miles.
We cross country skied, snow shoed and rode fat tire bikes at nearby Governor Dodge and Blue Mound State Parks. It was a welcome winter getaway and so nice to enjoy the nature and scenery in this Driftless area of Wisconsin.
It was an amazing stay, all the way around! Highly recommended!

We came here for our 10 year anniversary. Kevin and Elise are gracious hosts. If you are looking for ultimate peace and quiet, this is the place. Everything about it is 5 stars. Travelling through the driftless area to find it is a treat in and of itself. I've never seen so many hummingbirds at once place. The farm to table breakfast is excellent. The beds are incredibly comfortable. At night, you can hear nothing but birds and pure nature. We cracked our window just to listen at night as we drifted off to sleep. You can eve do a short hike up a bluff on the property and see the driftless landscape as far as the eye can see. The high standards of hospitality mixed with warm and inviting spaces are a treasured experience. Highly recommend.

This was the fifth summer we have stayed at the Silver Star for multiple nights, while seeing American Players Theater’s plays and visiting nearby sights. Hosts Elise and Kevin are the gold standard for B&B hosts. Elise is attentive, friendly to all, and very knowledgeable about the area’s many offerings. Kevin makes breakfast, maintains the extensive grounds, and is fun to chat with. The flower beds are spectacular, and the busy hummingbird feeders draw your eye. The B&B draws a mix of visitors, with whom it’s easy to chat and compare impressions of the latest play or a nearby restaurant. And the breakfasts are great!!

Gorgeous inn, gorgeous surroundings, out in the quiet, beautiful countryside, a pleasant, quick ride to/from Taliesin or American Players Theater. Great breakfasts, friendly hosts. Each room or suite has its own balcony . . . which are in addition to the wonderful, spacious front porch. Walking paths aplenty. Fresh eggs, from their contented and free-roaming hens.
My only TINY criticism reflects one of my pet peeves: I don't find the scent of Febreze or scented laundry detergents pleasant, or even natural. I wish Silver Star would use unscented detergent and/or fabric softener on its towels.

We like Silver Star so much we just keep coming back! We come to the Driftless region for the excellent road cycling in the area. We can ride directly from there. Elise and Kevin are excellent hosts. They know the local area well, so if you need dinner recommendations or anything else, they will guide you in the right direction. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and quiet. Breakfast is always delicious, ready whenever you decide to take a seat between 8 and 9am. It’s a very laid back atmosphere- choose to sit inside or out, chat with other guests or keep to yourself, totally up to you. Coffee is fresh and hot when you wake up. The 70 acre property is beautiful, with groomed and well marked hiking trails through the woods and prairie. Expect to see unique rock outcroppings, lots of hummingbirds, and if you’re lucky a visit from the lady chickens that supply your breakfast eggs.

This is a great B & B! We only stayed one night, but would have loved to stay longer. The hosts are very friendly, the property is pretty, the food is fabulous, and the room was very comfortable. We stayed in the "Bird's Eye View", and were very happy with our choice. We had views of the property from two sides. The hosts provide an enormous area to relax adjacent to the dining area. It has a stone fireplace, books, games, several seating areas, and was very comfortable. They have hiking trails on the property. We enjoyed visiting with the hosts. This was the best breakfast we had on our 12 day trip!!!! If you pushed me to find something wrong, I would say it would be nice to have a larger shower, but that wouldn't keep me from staying again.

We have one guest room on the main level that is handicap accessible.
Hi- we have 2 rooms that have 2 beds in them. They are $165 each. If you look at our website (silverstarinn), look under the rooms and rates page, and click on check availability for Driftless Dream and Secret Hideaway- you will see updates photos of the rooms. It looks as though your dates are weekdays- we would give you $10 off per night. Please let me know if you have any further questions! Elise
