With a whirlpool tucked into the woods and a large fire pit to lounge around, this motel is the perfect combination of comfort and outdoor experiences. Owners immediately took care of any problems we had. Will definitely come back!
Our family was traveling from Seattle, San Francisco, Baltimore, St. Louis and Minnesota and needed a place to celebrate my mother's 95th birthday. Our original plans were altered by COVID 19 restrictions so we needed a place to distance and congregate. I asked for suggestions at check-in and was told our suite was probably a good choice. As the group had multiple rooms and suites I wasn't sure but was thrilled by the space and accommodations in our suite - both inside and out (there was a balcony with chairs and a table). We probably could have gotten by with fewer rooms but it was wonderful to have a place where mom could "hold court" and entertain for the occasion. My only hesitation in writing this review is that we will return and I want to stay in the same suite.
We stayed here while we prepared my friends boat for a delivery. The staff where fantastic and helpful in all ways. The owner is a wonderful person who really does try to make your visit great. We were very pleased with all the safety precautions they were taking due to Covid 19. The rooms are spacious and the setting is lovely. If you visit this area i highly recommended this little hotel.
Our family stayed one night last minute in Sister Bay, all the places in town or waterfront were booked so we were happy to find the Coachlite still had a room. I was absolutely in love with this place, the gardens were immaculate with flowers, bird houses and wildlife. The check in was easy and staff so friendly and eager to give us tips. The room was so cute with everything we needed. The beds were super comfortable with updated ceiling fans. The property was so quiet! I’m used to hotels, being woken up by people partying or the sounds of the elevator. I slept like a baby. We made a bon fire in the evening, coffee in the sunshine in the morning. We were so glad we didn’t stay in town where it was loud and busy. We can’t wait to stay here again. I would recommend staying at the Coachlite to anyone.…
I've been reluctant to write a review because the owner Rich is such a great person and did try to rectify the problem. I get it. The weather and rain in Door County was over the top and everything is wet. That doesn't excuse a mold smell so strong that you caught your breath every time you entered the room. We had to air out our luggage after staying two nights in the Lodge and that's why I'm writing to help other travelers. I was ready to leave and lose the last nights payment when I approached Rich and he put us in a better room. I just have to say, shame on the team for allowing us to rent the room when it was way over obvious that it stunk of severe mold. My guess is there isn't a basement and the floor boards are rotten. I might be wrong. It could be the walls but something isn't right. Upon entry we immediately noticed and we should have said something, but since the room was cold and the humidifier was full we figured we could nurse the room back to health. Humidifier full, cold room that the heat hadn't been on in a long time and must smell. I think we gave it a gallant effort. As long as I'm being honest, the fake linoleum flooring is pealing up and the carpet in the main bedroom is so old, there's a dark path leading into the room. One place we will not stay in the future is the Coachlite. …
