The Nordic Lodge is located in a quiet wooded setting between Ephraim and Sister Bay in Door County, Wisconsin. Nordic presents an ambiance of peaceful isolated luxury, yet is right at the heart of Door County's shopping and recreation area. At Nordic Lodge, you are just a brief walk from the crystal clear waters of Pebble Beach and a short jaunt from Bay Ridge Golf Course.
I am not one to write bad reviews, as a matter of fact, this is my first one. I booked a room for a wedding I was suppose to go to in June and unfortunately I had to cancel due to my sons graduation being on the same day. I called and left messages for weeks! Close to a month! 2-3 times a week I would call and always leave polite messages stating that I needed to cancel. I wanted to be sure to cancel before I would get charged. Yesterday, I left my final message begging for this business owner to PLEASE call me back! After no reply, AGAIN I was looking into calling my CC company to dispute the charges because I didn't know what else to do! While searching for the charges on my card, I decided to give it one last go and try again. I called and after 2 rings it went to VM, called again and 1 ring and VM, called again and they ANSWERED!! I was still overly polite (more then she deserves after weeks of ignoring my messages) I explained that I needed to cancel my rooms and that I have left over 15 messages in the past 3-4 weeks. She completely ignored my statement, didn't even acknowledge my statement of leaving messages and told me she would cancel and refund. Being small business owners ourselves I understand what negative reviews can do to a business, and I certainly don't want to hurt any business. But the lack of professionalism from this business owner is uncalled for. I will defiantly never stay here or recommend this hotel to anyone. …

I have to laugh at some of these reviews. What do you expect for less than $200 a night during peak season in Door County?! If you want better anything, pay for it. There are tons of other options on the peninsula with incredible service and food and sound proofing etc. Go there. We stayed in a pet friendly room. It’s been recently remodeled. The Nordic Lodge is a case of they’re doing what they can with what they have. It’s old and worn out. But it’s clean and far better than some of the motels around here. The only thing that baffles me about this place is why the actual heck they put all 4 dog friendly rooms right next to each other. One dog barks, they all start barking and don’t stop until they’re tired. One room left their dog while they went swimming and the poor thing howled for an hour, so the dogs in the other three rooms barked for an hour. Separate the dog rooms omg. Skip breakfast but certainly don’t let your unrealistic expectations ruin your trip. Three stars for being exactly what I expected when booking a 2* hotel.…

When driving in: There was a gas grill turnover in the front yard, Patio furniture all array, tree limbs not picked up. The ice machine not working. The doors to your rooms, didn't' have peep holes, they had a rope thing for added security around the doors. Went to the lobby to get extra both towels, they didn't have any because the laundry service hadn't come to pick up the dirty ones. Breakfast was all refined sugars, no microwave and if you showed up at 9:01am they lock the refrigerator, so be prepared for that. Our room had a fly swatter hanging on the bathroom hook. Bed frames had dust all along the back. If you are looking to have room cleaned between days stayed they don't do that either.

I was a bit hesitant about staying here based on some of the earlier reviews. We wanted to come to Sister Bay for Fall Fest weekend and all hotels were completely booked. I just happened upon a cancellation at Nordic Lodge and grabbed it. We were pleasantly surprised. Hotel is very clean. The bathroom had newer flooring/toilet, the whole place appeared to be newly painted. Carpet was clean and newer. Our room had a little patio facing the woods which was very pretty with the fall colors. Hotel was quiet and bed was comfortable. Updated decor. Room had fridge, microwave, hair dryer, and a mini 4-cup coffee maker. Complimentary breakfast consisted of Jimmy Deans breakfast sandwiches that can be warmed up in microwave, random individual cereals, prepackaged hard boiled eggs, and some pastries. Coffee, milk, and juice. No “breakfast area,” you must take it back to your room. The maintenance / cleaning person we encountered in hallway was very pleasant and friendly. However, as previous reviews have mentioned, the woman at the front desk was not “rude” but also not exactly “friendly.” I guess I’d describe her as “disinterested.” When we arrived I gave her my name and she held up a clipboard with names and said “is this you?” And I said yes and she gave me keys and said “One is for room, other for main entrance after 10.” I said “do I get any paperwork re remaining charges etc” and she said “it’s in the email.” It was “fine” but not exactly a “friendly” greeting. The location was great and set a little off the highway so it was quiet. There’s a pool, whirlpool, outside common deck area, etc but we didn’t try any of that. For Fall Fest 2022, there was a Sister Bay Shuttle that came to the motel. We didn’t use it but it was a nice option to have. It would’ve been nice to have a “normal” sized coffee maker but it was sufficient. Plus we got coffee in the lobby in morning so it was fine. Other reviews commented on the breakfast but honestly it was ok and better than nothing. I’d recommend going down early, as we went down at 8:30 am the second morning and it was picked over and apparently not replenished. Please see my photos and make your own opinion on the “locks” in the doors. Overall it was a better stay than we expected, and we were pleased with the stay. We would stay here again.…

I’m very torn on my stay at Nordic Lodge. Initially I would have rated it a 4, but how things have turned out make it a 1. I stayed there for 6 nights towards the end of July. The receptionists were very nice and helpful. However, the bathroom had black mold, which grew larger over the cause of the stay. Eventually, there was water leaking from the ceiling in the bathroom. The staff managed to get a plumber in during the day while we were gone to fix it which was nice. Due to the hotel being full we couldn’t be moved to another room, so we were credited one night free which was appreciated. However, upon leaving the hotel, I later came to find my card was charged an additional $185.51. When I called to resolve this issue, no one could tell me what it was for or help to resolve the issue. I was told my message had been passed on. Many calls later and talking to staff who are unable to help me, I’m just frustrated over the entire thing. It’s now been 2 weeks. When I call, no one can tell me what that charge was for. So the issue remains unresolved.…

Rooms are a little dated, but they are very clean, and beds are comfortable. Pool/hot tub area was closed but there is lots to do in the area, and came back to this hotel and got a great night sleep. The hotel is back off the road enough that there wasn't a lot of road noise in the rooms. I would stay here again for sure.

We were very disappointed in our stay at Nordic Lodge. We booked the “pet room” and brought our dog with us. Once we arrived in our room, we noticed our dog kept wanting to go under the beds. When we looked to see, we found a prescription pill and saw some toys under the bed. We immediately went to the front desk to report our concerns and asked for a vacuum cleaner so we could move the beds and vacuum, which we did. There was more junk under there including a pair of socks. Needless to say, if our dog had ingested the pill, she may have gotten sick or worse. So we had to pay an extra $50 to have our dog in a room that we had to clean before staying. The front desk people understood our complaint and said the manager would be notified. We have not been notified. Upon departure we let another front desk person know about what happened and gave her all the items we found under the bed, including the prescription pill. We have stayed at Nordic lodge a few times over the past 20 years and liked it. We will NOT be staying there ever again, as it has been over a week and they have not responded to our concerns. Shelly…

The Nordic Lodge is in a very good location on SR 42 just south of Sister Bay. While not a large motel, it has a nice indoor pool and hot tub, plus lots of wooded picnic areas with gas grills. Our room was very clean, it all rooms have a private belcony. Breakfast in the lobby could be carried to your room-nice touch. Included breakfast sandwiches that could be heated in microwave, and other items-no motel waffles though! (Thankfully) My only observation was that the room decor was non-existant. Why not include some "Nordic decor" to make the rooms more attractive?

We were here for one night and were surprised how comfortable the beds were. I wasn't please with the sleeping arrangements, since one of the couples got double beds and the other got queen beds. There was no opportunity to change rooms either, because they were full. I didn't even know hotels still used double beds instead of queens. I think it may have been to save money, since they cut quite a few other corners on decorating, door locks, and such. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the place was surprisingly quiet and the bed was comfortable. I didn't look at the pool or hot tub, so can't comment on those amenities. The showerhead was a bit old, but there was plenty of hot water and pressure. Breakfast was okay, with a variety of heat and eat snacks and juices.

I booked a 2 queen bed room for 2 nights for my 2 sisters and I on February 23. I was there the end of May with my husband and confirmed these reservations. I requested a 1st floor room, as my sister has problems with her knees, and was told we were set up for this. We had a medical issue on the way there, so our arrival was delayed, but since the web site states check in is until 10pm, we didn't feel there was a problem. We were 40 minutes away (7:35pm) and I got a call our room was given away. She said she was sorry, but when we were talking to her, there was no remorse. She asked if we could sleep in a room with 1 king bed instead. We sisters are close, but not that close! She said she'd call me back. She called back at 8:05, told me she contacted the people she gave our room to, and they'd change rooms later that evening... after they enjoyed the sunset. We were told they'd refund our deposit and we'd be out a place to stay, or just delay getting into our room. Since there were no other rooms in door county, we waited in the lobby for our room. We spoke to the manager, and were told we checked in too late. The owner called us later, and eventually gave us $30 off our total bill. We got to the lobby at 8:15, and did not get into our room until 10:05pm. We are all human and make mistakes... however, if the lady that gave our room truly was sorry, why did she have a conversation with someone else about a cup of coffee while we were talking to her on the phone about the situation? And when we got there, why did she ignore me when I was trying to find out if they had a public restroom for me to use? She pretended she was booking someone on the phone, until another customer came in to register? To us, it felt like they could've cared less about how they treated their guests.…
