My fiancé and I stayed here while we were on our hunting trip! We had an excellent stay! Highly recommend anyone staying in the area! We are from MS and they made us feel like we were at home! The owners are very sweet and very accommodating!!
We favor staying in a bed and breakfast or small inn when possible and our stay at Valley Springs Farm was yet another example of why it is such a great way to travel. The owners check off all the requirements of a good B&B: comfort, privacy, advice on local food and sites and filling, tasty breakfasts. There are several ways in which this was a little out of the ordinary, however, all in a good way. • First and foremost, Valley Springs is a functioning farm as their website makes clear. Dorothy and Don have run it for decades, first as a dairy farm and more recently with a beef herd. It was interesting to hear about the workings and challenges of a private farm and Dorothy took us out on her ATV for a tour of the farm and the barn. Max, the farm’s Australian Shepherd, accompanied us to assist. • Saying the breakfasts were tasty is a bit of an understatement. We stayed four nights and each morning Dorothy had a unique two-course concoction, all of which were delicious. She clearly puts emphasis on and takes pride on the culinary side of things. • The staff includes not only Max, but also Toby the cat, who is the lead ambassador. He was at our car door when we arrived even before we could disembark. My wife and I agreed he is the most vocal feline we have encountered. Every time we saw him, which was often, he was mewing and/or purring almost constantly. I got the feeling that nothing happens around the farmhouse and barn without Toby’s awareness. • Finally, Dorothy noticed us saying grace at the morning meal and shared with us a local shrine to St. Anne. We visited a couple of days later and it was a lovely, peaceful visit to an out-of-the-way chapel we would have missed entirely. This again is the beauty of staying in personal lodgings like this, especially when run by caring folks like the Harms. As a footnote, one of my wife’s requirements is having a private bathroom, not shared with other rooms. Valley Springs normally has three rooms for rent sharing one bath, but as an added precaution they are only accepting one reservation as one of their Covid-19 precautions. So this turned out to be a surprise benefit for us as we would not have considered staying there during normal conditions. It truly turned out to be a blessing.…
Dorothy and Don are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. Upon arrival we were greeted by Dorothy and felt very welcomed in their beautiful home. We learned a lot about the inner workings of the farm. We wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the City and this was the perfect place to do that. Our room was very comfortable and clean. They thought of everything...even supplying shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in case you forget yours. If you are looking for a nice relaxing weekend to get away from it all...this is the place to go.
We booked a room last minute and Valley Springs Farm B&B was able to accommodate on very short notice. The farm is beautiful and the house was very comfortable. We got to enjoy a tour of their farm and breakfast was delicious! Don and Dorothy were so nice, it was just like staying with family. Highly recommend staying here. We will stay again next time we are in the area!
Took my granddaughter on a trip up north. We stayed with Dorothy and Don and we could not have been happier. The hosts were very friendly and enjoyable. They took the time to show us the inner workings of their farm. It was exactly what I was looking for. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was the best. We both hope to return again very soon.
