This tiny roadside motel has 7 rooms, and the owner lives behind the office right in the middle. We got in a bit late at night during a snowstorm, and he came to the door in his PJ's and was very nice to myself and my young son. He gave us a room on the end and we had no one in the room next to us. The cost was only $36.95 for the night for a single, and they charge approx $5 more per additional person. The place was quite shabby and the furnishings are older. The temperature was turned down quite a lot and we had to turn up the thermostat to get the room to warm up. That being said, everything was perfectly adequate. The heat worked well once we turned it up; the shower water was piping hot; the beds were comfortable; the place was silent the whole time; we felt safe and comfortable. There was even a mini fridge in our room and my favorite feature of older independent roadside motels: wood panelling on the walls. Plus it is right down the road from "The Thirsty Squirrel"--what more could you ask from a cheap overnight stop? Perfect for a dirt-cheap local business to stay the night in when you just can't take another mile of Hwy 29. No complaints.…
