Outstanding historic inn. We chose the option of renting the whole Inn for the week. All rooms are beautifully decorated with heated bedcover options and private baths/shower. The suites have large wonderful bathtubs. Great water pressure in showers. Abundant high quality robes/linens. Washer dryer on both floors.

Well stocked kitchen, spacious dining/living room. Multiple Keurig machines and hot water teapot with lots of tea/cider/coffee/hot chocolate options & also a drip 12 cup coffee pot (my fave). We did a lot of cooking, no need to bring any equipment all there.

Lovely garden with sitting area. Lots of parking in adjacent lot. Easy walk to shops/restaurants/markets; short drive to all area attractions like EAA.

Owners extremely responsive to all questions; fast fix of minor issues when notified by text.

I have significant allergies to pets/smoke/dust: no problems, Inn was spotless and was pet/smoke free.

We would absolutely stay again!

Nicole and Scott always go the extra mile to insure a great stay is had by their guests, and our stay this weekend was no exception. We have stayed with them several times, and have yet to be disappointed, even a little. The room was quaint but contained everything needed for a comfortable stay. In addition, the common areas, both inside and out are well thought out and comfortable. For me, the highlight is the breakfast. Nicole is a fantastic and imaginative cook. Every breakfast is a great adventure. Oh, and the late night snacks are fabulous, too. All in all, the Brayton's are very fine hosts, with whom we will be staying during future visits to Oshkosh.

Inkeepers Nicole and Scott were the perfect hosts. The rooms were charming and the breakfasts amazing and different each day. Lots of small nooks to relax, read a book or just wind down. Nice location, central, and a couple of blocks from Main Street,

Just heavenly for a gal's weekend. Kendall and Michelle kept us updated and welcomed via email. Wonderful beds, snacks and atmosphere. Comfortable and peaceful, very upscale from top to bottom. We were sorry to have to leave, one night was not enough.

Nicole and Scott were amazing the entire process. We had some questions and special requests in the beginning as we wanted our stay to be special for our wedding. They were very responsive and accommodating. My husband and I immediately agreed that if we're back in town we would love to stay again. The B&B is beautiful and unique and has a great vibe. Not to mention the dessert and breakfast were outstanding! I would 100% recommend this B&B.

I stayed here for just one night, with my wife.

Pros:
Nicole is a gracious and kind host.
Our room was very cute.
Breakfast was pleasant, and accommodating to vegetarians.
The price was reasonable.
It wasn't soullessly oppressive like your average chain hotel room.

Cons:
The in-room toilet having no enclosing door was a little weird, but not a big deal.
The room was very cold at night (in late April) and the mattress warmer, while making me sweat all night, was not great at fighting this.
The pillows were very uncomfortable, and both my neck and my wife's hurt considerably all the next day.
Scott dispensed annoying right-wing political talking points over breakfast.

I can't affirmatively recommend this B&B and I would be ambivalent about staying here again, but neither was it entirely unsatisfactory.

Dear Sam, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding our inn. I am certainly disappointed that your stay was not all that it could have been. We really strive to do everything possible to make our guests' stay welcoming and enjoyable. Reviews like yours though help us to strive to make a better experience for others in the future. Though I am thrilled that you found our prices reasonable, enjoyed the vegetarian breakfast that was requested and that you found your accommodations to be cute, I am sorry that the restroom was a surprise to you. We try to do our best to advertise that some of the rooms have restrooms that are only separated by a half wall or curtains. I have started to look into this further and see how I can do a better job at trying to portray that on our website. We do our best at trying to make the inn a comfortable temperature for everyone, however as an innkeeper, I have found that is almost impossible. The radiators in each of the rooms allow guests to turn the heat on or off and the provided space heaters in the rooms as well, allow our guests to make the room warmer. The electric mattress pads on the each of the beds is an added luxury most of our guests have come to enjoy. The one thing I have learned from your comment though, is I may want to mention to future guests that it may be comfortable to get into a warm bed, however you may have to adjust the temperature before retiring for the evening since it does keep you plenty warm. Pillows are another aspect of running an inn that you never really know the preference of every guest. We thought that we had come up with a pretty good selection on offering a firm pillow and a softer pillow in each room to give guests a choice, however we may have to reevaluate what we are offering to come up with something more midstream. Breakfast is always a lot of fun for us. We have found that so many of guests that come from all over the country and world always have something common when sitting down together for a meal. It is always interesting to hear opinions and thoughts of our guests that come from so far and see the interaction that takes place. Many times are guests plead us to sit down with them for a cup of coffee and morning conversation. Occasionally though the subject may turn to a direction that can be controversial. I like to keep those types of views or comments to myself, but I will admit, that when asked, my husband will speak his opinion. I will have to give him a little pinch or kick under the table though, in case this comes up again. Once again, I would like to thank your for candid review. Whether it is positive, negative or neutral, comments make us better innkeepers and make your experience, where every it may take you, better for everyone. Nicole

Taking into account our overall experience, we do not plan to return when we are in the area. However, you may want to consider staying here if you are searching for a one-night getaway in Oshkosh...

Check-in/Arrival:
When we walked up to the front porch, we noticed a chalkboard sign that had “Welcome…” with our names written on it. One of the owners, Nicole, greeted us and offered us a complimentary upgrade to another room. Her and her husband, Scott, gave us a tour of the house and we learned about the renovations they completed on this historic home. All of the rooms have a private bathroom. The two suites have soaking tubs. The Brayton Suite differs in that it includes a bathroom that can be closed off from the rest of the room. There are plenty of common areas to rest and relax if you want time outside of your room. The owners also offered us some wine and cheese on arrival and there was bottled water in the room. Nicole has breakfast cards you fill out with what time you plan to eat and then you circle what options you would like for your breakfast. This was the first time I have seen this, and I thought it was a great idea.

Rooms:
We took Nicole up on the upgrade, and chose to stay in the Belle Suite. It is a large room with an impressive king size bed. There is also a loveseat and coffee table in the room. As a business traveler, my husband missed having a small work desk in the room. There is a large dining room in the common areas that you could use if you needed to conduct business while there. The house has wireless Internet. Our room did not have an in-room iron and ironing board, but when we asked for one Nicole put an iron with a small ironing board in our room. We especially enjoyed the soft embroidered sheets and comfortable mattress. I am usually partial to down-like comforters, but found the bedding to be soft and cozy. It was the best night’s sleep I had while traveling through the area. The room is decorated with brown and burgundy hues. Usually when I have stayed in a historic home, there can be issues with heating and cooling (since it is “shared”). No worries here…we slept in comfort.

Bathroom:
The soaking tub and pedestal sink are located in the room and there is an alcove area in the back corner where the shower and toilet are located. Just as advertised on their website, each space is separated by curtains (no doors). We especially enjoyed the plush towels and soft robes. There are plenty of hooks just where you need them (near the tub and shower). All of the fixtures are new throughout the room. The shower had great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The bathroom areas are complete with fantastic smelling soaps, bath foam, body wash, lotion, and Aveda shampoo/conditioner. Space for toiletries is a bit sparse near the sink, if you are staying for an extended period this might be something to consider in this room.

Housekeeping:
The rooms and common areas are very clean and nothing was out of place. Like some other places we have stayed, saran wrap covers the glasses in each room so you know it has not been used and has not collected any dust in between guests.

Location:
The location is great if you are going to be in Oshkosh. The home is near the college campus and is only a block or so away from an array of downtown shops. Had the weather been better it would have been a neat area to explore.

Service:
Nicole has created a welcoming environment. She is a wonderful and hospitable host that aims to please. We returned from dinner and found brownies and chocolate covered peanut butter waiting for us. We were even offered a glass of milk to take back to our room. The owners are very personable. There were a few offhanded remarks in our conversations that made us a bit uncomfortable. Admittedly we are fairly conservative folks, so other people may not have noticed or been bothered by the comments. We appreciated their offer to be flexible on our check out time. I cannot imagine they would not go out of their way to meet a guest’s needs.

Breakfast:
My husband and I signed up for the two different options so that we could “sample” each. I mentioned something in passing about this, and Nicole went above and beyond and actually went ahead and had our plates ready with both items. We had breakfast lasagna, strawberry cream cheese stuffed French toast, grapes with yogurt and mixed nuts, bacon, and banana bread. It was so much food I couldn’t finish my plate. You also have your choice of an array of juices, milk, tea and coffee.

Overall:
Our experience of feeling a bit uncomfortable and the lack of an in-room desk will make us look elsewhere the next time we visit Oshkosh. Those with different travel requirements may want to consider this bed and breakfast.

We stop in Oshkosh just to stay at Brayton B&B. Great location fir easy walking to dining, coffee, clubs, and Saturday Farmer's Market. Niccole cooks a fabulous breakfast and goes out of her way for any special dietary needs. (My husband is diabetic and she not only adapted breakfast but also evening snack). She and Scott are wonderful hosts. We highly recommend a stay.

Three girlfriends spent a long weekend in Oshkosh for a friend's birthday nearby- Brayton Bed and Breakfast was the perfect base for us - ideal accommodations in the two bedroom Casa suite- lots of room in which to relax and a spacious bathroom. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms beautifully decorated. Nicole and Scott are the ultimate hosts. Greeting us warmly, offering wine and nibbles in the evening and leaving delicious desserts for a nightcap. Amazing choices of delicious breakfasts each morning- our hosts making sure to take into account our individual needs - vegetarian food, decaf coffee etc., Returning "home" in the evening was always a pleasure allowing us time to relax and enjoy the sitting room, a glass of wine or coffee and the music selected by Nicole. A lovely home away from home. I would definitely return next time I am in the area!

If I'm looking correctly it looks like you've already made a reservation for Friday night. If this is not you, you can make a reservation for one night as we do not have a two-night minimum this weekend
