Cozy Corner has very nice cabins - nothing fancy but everything is there and the place is very clean. Our bed was comfortable, all appliances worked, there is a nice weber grill and also a weber firepit with each cabin. The concrete around each cabin is very new - and very nice. The a/c worked slowly, but it worked and honestly it's not hot very often in WI!
The pool on the property has been re-done very recently also, and the owner cleans it twice per day. I am always skeptical about pools, but this one was awesome. The grounds on the property are very nicely maintained with flowers, well cared for lawn, etc. And the owner could not be nicer or easier to deal with, which is a bonus when you are on vacation.
There are some canoes and kayaks to use, though while we were there Lake Onalaska had a pretty good layer of algae on it - that's seasonal and just the way it is.

I assume this is about a 3 star property and my rating is assuming this, so better than expected for a 3 star property.
My family wanted a cabin in the Lacrosse area so we could all be together and I really couldn't find anything, so by default we ended up here. I hadn't been to the Onalaska area, but it is lovely. We were in the area for hiking and photography and this was really a better location than Lacrosse anyway.
The cabin has so many beds. If you have a lot of people, this is the place. The decor is okay, seems a little worn. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The hotel owner was very happy to spend time discussing things in the area to see and do.
When we were there, it seemed as if most of the cabins were rented by men for a weekend of fishing.

Stayed here one night, solo. I should note that most people stay here for a number of days at a time, and usually as couples or families, so my experience might be a little different that those circumstances. I had a good stay though! Details...

--The key thing to know is that these cottages are indeed cozy, in every sense. So they are smallish, especially the sleeping areas. Seems like you could sleep a family of 4 or 5 just fine, or fewer people, but don't expect much privacy. Plenty of room in the common space though.
--That said, these are really cute little cabins and seem pretty ideal for a family vacation! Rooms have a small kitchen with all the necessary gear, a sitting area and table, and all the usual stuff needed in a cabin or cottage.
--Cottages were clean, thoughtfully set up and decorated to feel like a cozy family cabin
--Bathroom was pretty cramped and basic, but everything was in good working order
--Beds were OK. There is a single true bedroom with one bed and just enough room to walk around it, another bed in the open common area, and two in the separate little entry room by the front door.
--The general property was kept up well - little dock on a river inlet, the 5 cabins in a line, a pool.
--Rate was very reasonable
--Staff were friendly and flexible - thanks for letting me stay a little shorter than the usual minimum length! (no guarantees they will always do this, I just got lucky they had open cabins anyway)
--I get the impression people stay here to go fishing and for other river activities, and the location would be great for that
--Not much really in walking distance, and very few restaurants super-close. If you have a car that should be fine, with the town of Midway a few miles away as it has plenty of choices.
--There is free WiFi, but it is a very strange setup with 5 or 6 different adaptors to connect to, each of which seem to fade in and out of usability at times. Not particularly reliable. But this may not matter to some, especially if you are trying to "get away".

I certainly recommend this place for a group or couples multi-day place to base out of. Would be a nice family getaway spot if your vacation centers around the river in some way. And for a very reasonable price.

My first review ever. The cottages are very clean and had everything we needed. However, it was not quite what we were looking for. It is out in the midlle of nowhere and not much to do. The pool was closed which knew ahead of time. It was uncovered and my kids were upset of the bullfrogs trapped trying to get out and the dead rabbit and other bullfrogs that died in there. I feel this could be avoided. They did give us passes to the local pool since their pool is closed. If you are on a fishing trip this is probably the perfect place for you but not much for a family.

We had two families visiting. Lacrosse is kind of halfway between Chicago and Minneapolis. We needed a place with two separate cabins that could accommodate both. We were pleasantly surprised how big they were and how many they slept comfortably, and with some privacy. We especially liked the large living area where we could all get together and play games or eat. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen complete. Just a big toaster oven, but ok stove top.
Outside was well kept with picnic tables and grills.
We swam a lot in the pool.
We took the canoe and paddle boats out for exploring.
It's not far from a nature preserve for hiking.
There's a supper clip down the road.
Bring your groceries as its a bit of a trek to the grocery and liquor store.
The grounds themselves are not expansive , but there's room to throw the ball or play croquet.

Headed to la crosse to enjoy a couple days away from work, hang out with the family and do a little fishing on the side in the great North. After reading reviews, my only concern was with the condition of the inside of the cabins, as the photos look fantastic on the outside. A couple comments mentioned dated interior. When we got there we absolutely loved it! It reminded me of my grandparents cabin up north with all the retro furniture. The mattresses were all updated and similar to most any hotel bed. The bedding and sheets had big floral patterns and were absolutely perfect to match the rest of the decor. If you're looking for a great location, clean cottages, and that up north feel, this is the place for you. The staff was friendly and helpful and pointing out area attractions and fishing spots, and for our family it was the right fit.

We three older fishermen were looking for a place to stay while fishing on "the Best Damn Fishing Float" on the Mississippi River. We had been staying in motels, and even a private cottage way up in the hills on the MN. hills.
We had hoped to find a place closer to the MN. boat launch,a place with a place to clean fish.
The Cozy Corner Cottages seem to have both. The Captain from the float had mentioned this place last visit fishing trip. The roads are one issue.....construction was every where it seemed.
The cabin did have a fish cleaning house!
The cabin itself was nice looking from outside, but once inside we found a very dated interior.broken mini blinds, windows that didn't open, a gas cook top with no way to lite, a couple of beds that need new mattresses, and makeshift electrical hook-ups.
They did have a nice TV, and wifi. Good hot water, and nice fridge.
I am used to soap in the shower, none here. Nice towels though!
The unit seemed dark, and worn.
The owner seemed very pleasant, and said he just taken over the place. He has his work cut out for him.

Rented cabin for 2 months at $820 per month in Nov/Dec 2017. One of the only reasons I chose this place was they allowed a dog. These cabins are just one very small bedroom, two twin beds on a small porch, a twin bed and a futon couch in the living room/kitchen, a kitchen table, a sink, a toaster oven, two burners and a frig. Not much privacy for a group of people but for one or two people it's ok. Property is very small. There are no deadbolts on either door, old tile on the floors, leaky windows with broken blinds but at least it has a full refrigerator. The property is in the middle of nowhere and nothing is in walking distance so be prepared to drive or you are stuck at this very small resort. Check around other resorts before you make a commitment to this one. If you are a bunch of guys looking to fish, drink beers and duck hunt, you came to the right place. But if you are a family or a couple looking for a fun place to vacation, look elsewhere.

The cottage had everything you could ask for! Plenty of beds, refrig, dishes, clean and quaint! Rowboats, canoes, and kayak's ready when you want them! Staff that is friendly and available when you need them! Plus they even provide a fire pit and charcoal grill with charcoal.

Can't wait to get back again!

Cozy Corner Cottages will take you back in time to the 1950's and 1960's when little cottages like these dotted the shorelines of lakes all over Wisconsin. My wife and I have fond memories of cottages exactly like these on family vacations when we were kids. We kept the tradition alive with our own kids. We can't wait to return again to Cozy Corner with our Grandkids! The cottages are not a "retro" look but are the "real deal." There are a few modern touches (flat screen TV & WiFi) and all of the conveniences we needed. Scott and his mother Cindy have retained the charm of a simpler time. We are guests who keep coming back to take a "walk down memory lane." We love it!
