This was my first Bed and Breakfast experience and it was excellent! The house itself was beautiful and the hosts were very accommodating. They were willing to provide plenty of suggestions for things to do in Downtown Milwaukee and they cooked a wonderful breakfast for us, which included farm fresh eggs. The house is within walking distance of Miller Park and is a great choice if you were looking to make a weekend out of going to Milwaukee for a Brewers game.
We found our accommodations comfortable and interesting. Our room was filled with antiques of all kinds. But what we found most accommodating was our host, who had grown up in the area and was quite familiar with the history of Milwaukee and was more than willing to sit down with us after a meal and share with us what he had learned. In addition to delicious meals, our host also shared with us his love stained glass work, many of which were on display in this lovely Victorian home. While the home may be described by some as "a work in progress", ( some fresh paint here and there) it certainly was well enough along to make us feel comfortable and excited to step back in time and enjoy the feeling!
My wife and I booked this B&B for a weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary. We knew absolutely nothing about Milwaukee, or WI for that matter. The host was accommodating to us arriving after the desired check in time, and was wonderfully polite. We had tickets to go see the Rangers (our home team) play the Brewers that night, and the drive to the stadium took less than 15 minutes. Our breakfast in the morning was absolutely wonderful. The conversation at the breakfast table was just as wonderful. Andrew and his wife were a wealth of information about the area, and talked lovingly about the city itself. For a random destination, we truly felt like we struck gold. Such a great time was had, and we will definitely consider coming back.
My girlfriend and I have stayed at Manderley multiple times over the past few years and we love it. The hosts are such welcoming, kind people. The house is beautiful and comfortable. We miss Rufus, their SharPei, who they had taught to hop up and open a curtain from the kitchen as an adorable greeting. RIP Rufus. The cost is low enough that it's totally worth it to just stay for an evening during a trip up to a concert or similar. We always enjoy the breakfasts and visiting the chickens out back. And how can you go wrong with fresh baked cookies left out for you??? I can't think of a thing to complain about. There is nothing wrong with the neighborhood, despite what a couple others here said... It's a city! It's true there isn't a ton of stuff to do in the immediate vicinity, but I've walked to the general downtown area many times from here and it's been just fine. Exercise is good for you, or if you can't walk use Uber/Lyft.…
What a stunningly gorgeous place to stay! Our romantic large room had a wonderful spa tub, beautiful period perfect furniture and wonderful engaging hosts Andy and Marie! We will definitely return to this B&B! Our hosts made us a special vegetarian breakfast that was dazzling and delicious! The candlelight presentation was a remarkable FIRST for us! We thank you for your kindness!
