Overall very satisfied, only ding, is the lack of contact/ communication between the B&B and ourselves. I finally had to call the day of, to confirm that we had a room. Other than that, everything was very good, from the room, to the breakfast.

My wife and I couldn’t have been happier with our first BnB stay. The hosts were great, the house was beautiful, and breakfast was amazing. Cannot wait to go back again and we have shared this recommendation with several people already.

This was my first Bed and Breakfast experience and it was excellent! The house itself was beautiful and the hosts were very accommodating. They were willing to provide plenty of suggestions for things to do in Downtown Milwaukee and they cooked a wonderful breakfast for us, which included farm fresh eggs. The house is within walking distance of Miller Park and is a great choice if you were looking to make a weekend out of going to Milwaukee for a Brewers game.

We found our accommodations comfortable and interesting. Our room was filled with antiques of all kinds. But what we found most accommodating was our host, who had grown up in the area and was quite familiar with the history of Milwaukee and was more than willing to sit down with us after a meal and share with us what he had learned. In addition to delicious meals, our host also shared with us his love stained glass work, many of which were on display in this lovely Victorian home. While the home may be described by some as "a work in progress", ( some fresh paint here and there) it certainly was well enough along to make us feel comfortable and excited to step back in time and enjoy the feeling!

My wife and I booked this B&B for a weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary. We knew absolutely nothing about Milwaukee, or WI for that matter. The host was accommodating to us arriving after the desired check in time, and was wonderfully polite. We had tickets to go see the Rangers (our home team) play the Brewers that night, and the drive to the stadium took less than 15 minutes. Our breakfast in the morning was absolutely wonderful. The conversation at the breakfast table was just as wonderful. Andrew and his wife were a wealth of information about the area, and talked lovingly about the city itself. For a random destination, we truly felt like we struck gold. Such a great time was had, and we will definitely consider coming back.

My girlfriend and I have stayed at Manderley multiple times over the past few years and we love it. The hosts are such welcoming, kind people. The house is beautiful and comfortable. We miss Rufus, their SharPei, who they had taught to hop up and open a curtain from the kitchen as an adorable greeting. RIP Rufus. The cost is low enough that it's totally worth it to just stay for an evening during a trip up to a concert or similar. We always enjoy the breakfasts and visiting the chickens out back. And how can you go wrong with fresh baked cookies left out for you??? I can't think of a thing to complain about. There is nothing wrong with the neighborhood, despite what a couple others here said... It's a city! It's true there isn't a ton of stuff to do in the immediate vicinity, but I've walked to the general downtown area many times from here and it's been just fine. Exercise is good for you, or if you can't walk use Uber/Lyft.

We were in town from Atlanta GA for only one night. We wanted to go to the riverwalk, the beach on Lake Michigan and we had tickets to a Brewers game at night. As with many old homes that become B&Bs in cities, the neighborhood might be considered questionable or transitioning. This B&B had 2 things we were looking for: 1) off street private parking and a private bathroom in the room we rented. We felt absolutely safe staying there and leaving our car on the property, again there is parking on the property and not on the street (unlike what one rater stated). Andrew was very kind and pleasant. The home was beautiful and the breakfast was amazing! The bedroom we stayed in was very comfortable. We took an Uber to and from the ball park and felt completely safe coming back at 11:30 at night not to mention we were home and in bed 15 minutes after the game ended. The riverwalk was 5 minutes away and Bradford Beach was 10-15 minutes away. There was a closet in the hallway that we could access that had DVDs, a refrigerator with drinks in it, and some snacks. Andrew accommodated what time we needed to have breakfast in the morning. He also accommodated us checking in at noon instead of between 3-6. I would definitely recommend it. It is interesting that the only bad reviews I have found were left by people who chose not to even stay, some didn't even enter the home.

Today we arrived at the B & B as out of town travelers. We realized as we were driven into the neighborhood that the property was in the inner city, there was a domestic dispute in the street that prevented us from passing for a couple of minutes. Our uber driver expressed concern about dropping us off. We went up the steps which were in a state of dry rot and crumbling to find a note that said "use the side entrance". We walked around and rang the bell 3x. We also knocked. Nobody came to the door and the door was locked. I called the owner and he promptly came and let us in. The owner said the bell must not be working. I mentioned the Uber driver's comment and the owner denied that there were any concerns. He showed us around the BnB which is dark and cluttered inside. The bedroom area had a slide door lock, the kind a restaurant bathroom has. He assured us it was safe and stated the home next door is vacant and also owned by the BNB. He also requested that we make sure to lock the door when we come and go and not allow cats inside the property. We did not see any other travelers and opted to leave. I was honestly unsure if it was a safe place to stay and wish that I had done better research. I saw reviews from years prior that gave four stars but did not see any recent. I did not receive a refund and I understand that when you cancel at the last minute you cannot expect a refund. However, I wanted to be in a neighborhood that I could come and go with less concern about safety. There are no businesses/restaurants or places to walk that I noted. All around people appear to be hanging out on corners. This is tragic because the home itself was no doubt glorious in it's day. It is historic and has been loved by it's owners. However it is now in disrepair and not a convenient area.

My boyfriend was very apprehensive pulling in the driveway. The neighborhood looked very sketchy and he was questioning my decision to book at this bed & breakfast—but when we walked through the door, he was absolutely impressed. I knew he would love the uniqueness and he was not disappointed. The house was so pretty and you could tell the owners put their heart and soul into the renovations and decorating. Being from California, I was totally freaked out that there were no locks on the bedroom doors and felt weird leaving everything in an unsecured bedroom but it was fine. If you need adequate light to put on makeup, you might want to bring a light up mirror—I couldn’t see a thing. My boyfriend couldn’t see to shave in the room either. It’s very possible that the owners had a lighted mirror that we could have borrowed but we didn’t bother asking. We had a delicious, fancy breakfast the next morning with another couple which was fun and the owners sat with us and chatted about the history of the house. We would absolutely recommend this B&B and would stay there again in a heartbeat.
