This has been my worst experience staying in a hotel, EVER. When I walked in the person working the counter had a weird attitude as she made sure I knew they were adding a 20% fee for potential incidental damages. I'm not sure if I was being judged based off my younger age or the clothes I was wearing (or both) but I'd just gotten off a flight from Phoenix for a wedding and wasn't too concerned about my current outfit. I walk into the room and the first two things I notice are that the carpet is basically peeling up at the walls and the floors creak VERY loudly. I understand it's an old building but the floor leading into the bathroom literally sinks an inch when you step on it. So I'm thinking whatever, its not that expensive, I can deal with it and head out to meet friends. I get back at night, and when I go to turn on the light over the vanity the bulb goes out. Then I find out the water pressure on the toilet is so high when you flush, even with the lid closed, IT SHOOTS OUT TOILET WATER ON YOUR LEGS!!! Then I try to iron my clothes and the iron leaks water everywhere. Ok fine, I got to bed. I let the front desk know the next morning that I need a new iron and a new light bulb so I can get ready for a wedding by 3:30. They bring me -another- broken iron that won't stay on and tell me it's the only one in the building, and that no one can change the light bulb before 5:30. Seriously? Give me the damn bulb and I'll do it myself. As I'm closing the closet door ( Had to use mirror on other side) the door knobs just fall off both sides of the door. I'm completely over it but I go to the wedding and come back and go to bed. I'm trying to get breakfast from the CAFE AT THE PLAZZA while staying at the PLAZZA HOTEL and what's this? They turned off online ordering. Weird, considering I ordered online yesterday (and they forgot my mimosa) so I call and get told that even though I'm paying to stay at the hotel, the hotel restaurant won't take my order unless I physically walk down and place it. NEVER EVER EVER STAY HERE!!! RUN AWAY!!!

Great vintage vibe with updated rooms finishes. Enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Recommend staying at The Plaza. Close to everything Milwaukee but a little bit further from the restaurants and nightlife.

The Plaza hotel combines old 1920's style with modern comforts. We enjoyed not only the hotel but the convenient surroundings. Including the proximity to the Metro Market and to the parks along the waterfront.

I loved the historic hotel feel of the hotel. I also loved the condo-feel of the property - like we were living in Milwaukee. I also loved the studio layout of our room and having a mini kitchen. The room was very clean and modern. The window air conditioner did a good job most of the time except on an especially hot day in which it struggled to keep up. Also, it never stopped, which could have been because of the outside temperature. It would have been nice to get a break from the constant blowing sound. This is a minor complaint. I wish the TV pulled out and swiveled to face the couch and I wish the kitchen had more than one or two of everything (glasses, silverware, etc.). These are minor/moderate complaints.

If you are looking for a charismatic place to stay The Plaza Hotel is a great choice! I was able to book my stay for half the price of the near by hotels. Nice location downtown- walking distance to restaurants. Cafe at the hotel was lovely! We had everything we needed and slept well!

The staff are amazingly helpful, the room was quiet and comfortable, and the location was very convenient for downtown Milwaukee or strolling to Lake Michigan. We enjoyed the alfresco dining for breakfast and lunch: excellent service, delicious meals, and a reasonable price. A great value without having to compromise.

Beautiful hotel in a great area. Retro styled, neat to just walk around a look at the decor. Parking was reasonable at $15. Very nicely remodeled, comfortable room. Kitchen is fabulous, large fridge with a 4 burner gas stove. Highly recommend, worth the cost. Would definitely stay again.

Clean and quaint with a great breakfast patio at the cafe. We Ioved the full kitchen and got groceries at the market right behind it. Walkable from the convention center and arenas. Quiet neighborhood. I highly recommend the Plaza!

For the price, this hotel is awesome. The staff was incredibly friendly, professional, and courteous, the room was impeccably clean, and the kitchenette was fantastic. Water pressure was also good and very hot. They have a breakfast and lunch cafe on site that is pretty decent (they don't serve dinner). There are no elevators, so it is a bit of a pain to carry luggage up and down stairs. The chief negatives were (1) we had 2 beds in our room, and both mattresses were pretty worn and saggy, and (2) the AC is a tiny window unit that looked like it was installed in the 70's, and it could not cool our room very well during the heat of the day (in July).
