Used to stay here back in the late 90's and booked mostly out of nostalgia. Paid extra for a renovated room. Carpeting has seen better days and vacuuming was spotty but overall a decent, very large room with a great view of the lake out back. Beds advertised as queens but seemed more like doubles. They used to have a very nice pool and that is gone although they do have a hot tub. My biggest complaint is that none of the staff wore masks-that's just ignorant. I paid $129 on a Thursday night-this is an $80 a night hotel. I'll likely look elsewhere the next time we're in the area.

Stayed here for an atving trip. Last years visit was just short of gross so we paid extra for an upgraded room. This room had newer carpet but the room itself had an odd odor. We believe that it was masked cigarette smell and even though this was a non-smoking room, there were cigarette burns in the carpet. The bed was supposedly new but it definitely has so use because you can look at it from the side and see the sag in the middle. A/C worked but had a loud vibration noise. The house keeping is almost non-existent. You get fresh towels but that's about it. One bed had the covers puled up but the other was only half done and the full garbage wasn't emptied until we left it in the middle of the floor so it couldn't be missed. My guess is that 2 minutes was spent in our room by housekeeping It seems like they are putting money into the hotel to improve it so that's good because it's the only option in the area for a large group. The price is not worth what you get. I don't think that you should have to pay extra for an upgraded room. Give the better rooms to people that book early. I can see charging more for a lake view vs a parking lot view. We were put in a lake view room and charged extra. We didn't ask for the lake view and asked to be put in a parking lot view but they didn't have any other upgraded rooms available and after last years stay, I wasn't willing to stay in one of those. In all fairness, this place caters to atvers and snowmobilers so that has to be hard on carpeting but that's more reason to vacuum them everyday and shampoo them periodically. Hopefully they keep making improvements and a better breakfast would be a great improvement.

Love how this motel is nestled up to the lake! The windows open all the way, making for a feeling of being immersed into nature (especially at night) and a very fresh smelling room! It was amazing being able to feel connected to nature while in the comforts of a motel. There is a bar downstairs and you can bring your drinks up. The room itself was cozy, spacious, and clean, but very outdated. The carpet especially was worn and the furniture & bedding appeared old and very used. Staff were all very friendly. We enjoyed our stay overall and will be back for the lakeside experience!

We have been staying here since it opened in the early '90's several times a year. They majority of our time there has been snowmobiling. I guess it never has been a five star hotel, and it was neglected by some previous owners, but the current owners have been showing improvements each time we are there. We just finished a weeks stay there snowmobiling. While the bar/grill does get very busy, we have always had very good food there. It is called the Wolf's Den. I cannot find it listed in Tripadvisor under restaurants.

We go to the Hurley/Mercer area twice a year, for the Memorial Day ATV ride and in October for the Pumpkin Run. This is the first time we have stayed at this motel. We arrived Thursday evening. The Bar/Restaurant was very busy, and there was one waitress that we could see, she was busy, but all in all, very nice and trying hard to keep up. The bar tender was a different story, she was rude and did not wait on us at all. We eventually ended up going out to the "lobby area" and visiting and enjoying our own beverages until we went to bed at around 11. Front desk people were very nice and helpful. Rooms were overall - comfortable and clean, nothing special. Sunday a.m. we got ready to leave - went up to get something from the "continental breakfast" - which was average, but nice to have available. We sat down with a cup of coffee at 9:30, I would guess there were around 20 other guests in the common area. Everyone was having breakfast visiting, getting ready to go. A woman comes in - turns the couches over moves the coffee table from the center and begins vacuuming and cleaning the floor. It is 9:30 a.m. - right in the middle of breakfast time. What!?! It is a beautiful room, great view of the lake - gas fireplace was going. Very nice moment... then the vacuum starts. I don't know why she chose that time to clean and not an hour or so later when guests were done eating and checking out. The maids were in the hallways making comments like "It's 10:00 people, get out of your rooms or we are going to start walking in" and "Lets just go to the 2nd floor, we can do what we want up there - no one will be watching us".. Hotel has great potential, I just don't think at this time it is being utilized.
