Lovely rooms. A little dusty at the entrance; his wife has been sick for a while. When she is back, the breakfasts will be better. The host is a wonderful guy, very engaging. I would recommend this place to about anyone.

Room Tip: the grotto room is the best choice. The owners wife is sick for a while so he is short handed....

The inn is a1880s former school house that has been renovated into the most incredible example of craftsmanship and period style imaginable. The breakfast was the best--all organic products presented with flair, wine happy hour, indoor sauna and in room jacuzzi contributed to the complete package.

We just popped over from St. Paul for a quick get away. We had a very large and nice room. Had a great chat with the owners in the evening and with the other couple over breakfast in the morning. They have done a great job of turning this old school into a B&B. It is worth the drive. Best dining is a short drive away in Red Wing.

Gary and Jennifer have turned this old school into a warm inviting bed and breakfast. The meals they served us were delicious. They are absolutely wonderful and made us feel so welcome. The area is full of wineries, artsy shops, bakeries and great eateries.

We absolutely love coming here! Jennifer and Gary treat you like family. We love sitting in the dining room and listening to Gary’s extensive record collection (since our last visit we bought a record player for our home!). Our room is perfect! The beds are so comfy, Jennifer has paid attention to every little thing. We love coming here and escaping from our littles. I can’t tell you how fun it is to stay in an old school and seeing how they have renovated this place. We are currently here and have invited 3 other couples to join us. Jennifer’s breakfast are out of this world. Come hungry!

This is an absolutely wonderful and unique facility. An old schoolhouse that the owners have labored on for years to renovate. The common area is comfortable and inviting with old LPs to play on a turntable. The rooms are well-appointed, clean and welcoming. There are other great amenities such as a sauna, fire pit, and rooftop deck. Breakfast was amazing - something that must be experienced. Finally, the innkeepers (Gary and Jennifer) are delightful. We will be back!

You simply cannot find a better B&B or better host and hostess than the Maiden Rock Inn with Gary and Jennifer. This place is unique and fabulous. The place is a labor of love that Jennifer and Gary have created, down to the details. It is the perfect place to get away and relax. Jennifer is a wonderful cook and your breakfast will be delicious and memorable. There are things to do in the area too: a winery, restaurants, hiking trails and an annual independent film festival (Fall?) Don't think twice, book it.

Stayed here passing through while site seeing on the Great River Road. What a find. A remodeled old schoolhouse that was done mostly by the owners Gary and Jennifer. What amazing craftmanship and goood taste! Also very unique. It has a game room, sauna, sitting room with fireplace and an amazing staircase going up to a rooftop view. The breakfast was awesome and Gary and Jennifer are such wonderful hosts. What a great find and a unique and enjoyable experience.

My significant other and I went for a summery weekend in July, and were able to enjoy all of the amenities of the house. A beautiful deck to see the sunsets with a glass of complimentary wine, a sauna, wonderful atmosphere, and a breakfast that will make you re-think what should be a typical breakfast all are typical of a stay at the Maiden Rock Inn. Everywhere you turn there is something different to see, as it has been lovingly re-built and decorated by the owners. Breakfast was fresh, organic, and locally-sourced, and Jennifer worked for hours on each breakfast. All of their food and activity recommendations were spot-on, and they were kind enough to let us borrow towels to go use while we swam at a local swimming "hole" (spring-fed river, clean and clear). We want to go back in the winter and enjoy the hand-made floor to ceiling stone fireplace, sauna, and library to their full potential. Thank you for a romantic and relaxing stay!
