The Grand Geneva Resort & Spa boasts a range of amenities and updated rooms that many guests find comfortable, with especially high marks for the festive atmosphere during the holiday season. However, opinions on the spa services and certain missing amenities are mixed. Our first getaway in two years and we are so happy we chose to stay here! My hubby spent two days skiing and I spent almost 8 hours in the spa. Even in the super busy Presidents’ Day/Valentine’s Day weekend, the entire staff was on top of good service.

In the spa: Gail, Carlos and Melanie are absolute treasures. My deep tissue massage was great. Carlis was great at putting me at ease and managed to be gentle during a deep tissue massage. The Moroccan Ritual (Gail) was among the best body treatments I have ever had. She was also great at putting me at ease in a vulnerable situation. Melanie was very helpful with questions and just fun to talk to. She’s a great cosmetician. The lounge and locker room porters were attentive and pleasant. Everything seemed clean and well maintained. And if course, who could not love all the complimentary mimosas a person can drink?

The hotel: Our room was very clean. I am a crazy person who Clorox wipes hotel rooms and checks the bed and other furniture for signs of varmints. The picture frames were dust free! No carpet stains, no bugs. Parking was easy, even on a sold out weekend.

A couple of points off for the not stain free shower curtain and the fact that the recycling bin was emptied into the garbage. The hotel may try to be green, but not recycling kinds of hurts that effort. Considering this is an enormous resort and every place I went in the grounds seemed well cleaned and maintained, these are minor points.

I will stay here again and will recommend to friends and family. Additional shouts out to the concierge staff, Asst Mgr Brandy, and the Grand Cafe servers who manage to be very enthusiastic over the crab legs they serve hundreds of times a week.

This kind of feedback truly makes our day! Thank you for sharing the praises of so many of our Grand Geneva colleagues. We have long believed that it is their gracious hospitality which brings guests back time and again and words like yours certainly lead us to believe that our thoughts are on par. We love hearing that you each chose an activity for you that you thoroughly enjoyed and then had time together in the evening over great food, including the crab legs. We are delighted to read that your visit was so enjoyed and we look forward to repeating the experience the next time you join us. Regards, Guest Relations

This is our 3rd time staying at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa and it never disappoints. We always stay in a King Deluxe Lakeside Room overlooking the 18th Hole of the Brute golf course. During this time of Covid, we were pleased to see the added measures taken both in the lobby and in our room such as upon entry to room, a seal is there telling you the room has been cleaned and sanitized. Once you open your door, the seal breaks. Also, remotes are covered in plastic and there is no maid service during your stay to ensure no one else goes into your room except you. Pool reservations had to be made to control the number of guests during the 2 hour timeframe of each reservation. After each 2 hour session, the pool was closed for 1 hour for sanitizing. All these measures made us feel very confident the Resort is taking all the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of Covid. We have played both the Brute and the Highlands courses and enjoyed both very much. We will definitely stay again in the future and have given giftcards for the Resort to family and friends.

We’ve stayed many times at this resort and have used most of the many amenities. It’s very conveniently located to downtown Lake Geneva and other shopping, and plenty of excellent food option both on and off the property. The staff, from the front desk, to restaurant servers to spa attendants are always excellent and attentive. The only downside is that the property, especially rooms, hallways and the indoor pool could use some TLC. On our recent trip it appeared they were doing work on the outdoor pool area, which we can’t wait to see. However, some new paint and generally scrubbing down the rooms to brighten them up would go a long way. Higbly recommended, however, for a relaxing getaway.

Every year I take a long weekend at The Grand Geneva by myself as a way to rejuvenate and refresh. I was so very disappointed this year. The room was a two room suite which was nice. The bathroom was recently remodeled and had an awesome shower!

Once I checked in and got to my room I used the resort app to request a top sheet for the bed and a hair dryer (not sure why they don't include that in the bathroom). The resort is European bedding, which is without the top sheet. About a half hour later an employee arrived with a huge garbage bag, handed it to me and left. I thought it was large but thought maybe they didn't fold the sheet. It was a comforter! This time I called and was told someone would be down with the sheet. The same employee took the bagged comforter but didn't give me a sheet. He left the bag outside my door then. I gave up on the sheet.

I noticed early on the room was incredibly warm. I like my room temp around 66 or 67. Both rooms were continually over 70. I, again, used the app to request someone to come look at the issue. Forty five minutes later I receive a call and I'm told the maintenance person is outside my door but can't knock because my do not disturb sign is out. He tells me to go to the door and let him in. Open the door, there's not a sole in site. I go out for the day.

When I return, it's still so warm that I need to open the sliding doors to lower the room temp. I use the app again to request service and make sure my DND tag is not out. Waited two hours and no one showed up or called.
It was so uncomfortable sleeping. I had to keep getting up to open the sliding door for cool air.

I did bring this up upon checkout and was told, "I'm sorry", but didn't escalate it.

I did forget to add that on the morning of my trip I received an email stating my trip cost had changed. The trip total increased a couple hundred dollars. I called to inquire as to why and reservations could not answer. They said it must have been a glitch.

As a courtesy to the resort I did wait to do this review until I gave them a chance to reach out to me. I even completed the "how did we do" survey and asked someone to contact me. Never received any communication from them.

We are delighted to hear that you were able to enjoy the recently renovated bathroom and your accommodations. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the temperature of your room. We have a very unique property here built in 1968 and unfortunately, that leads to some issues like you experienced, especially mixed with this ever-changing weather in Wisconsin. Please reach out to us at info@grandgeneva.com with your contact info so that we can address your concerns. Once again we apologize for the inconveniences that you experienced and we hope that we can make your next stay with us your best stay yet.

A friend and I met to have a quick overnight getaway. It was both of our first stays at a hotel since Covid. The enormous resort was in impeccable clean condition. I was very impressed with how well staffed and how high caliber the amenities still were. We felt very confident in the cleanliness, and there was sanitize are easily accessible every place we went. We took a beautiful walk on the grounds, enjoyed Excellent spa services where we were screened with our temperatures, Felt very safe in the spa changing area, and you could tell all the staff was very diligent in cleanliness. We ate dinner at the Geneva chophouse which was outstanding. Chicago caliber meal, the quality was excellent, the chef was lovely, and all the tables were appropriately spaced. There was a nice crowd in there but we felt very safe because the tables were spaced and the ceilings were high.

The grand Geneva has a beautiful entryway with an enormous sitting area was lovely views. Many ceiling vignettes with chairs and sofas, and I enjoyed catching up on magazines and newspapers with the lovely view any a glass of champagne.

The staff at both the bars and both of the restaurants were excellent. Could not have been more impressed under normal circumstances, and considering the impact I imagine Covid has taken on business and revenue, I was especially impressed that you could not see any decrease in quality. It was a fantastic experience, and I’m looking forward to doing it again!

I love this resort and usually have no issues when staying here, however my stay on 09/08 was just not as usual. My boyfriend had an important work related call at 11 am and we decided to request a late check out. I went to the front desk around 10.05-10.15 and requested a late check out so my boyfriend could take his call in a quiet room. The front desk attendant wrote down the room number and said she would pass the information to the housekeeping team. Just in case we also left a sign “do not disturb” on the door. At 11.05 we got the first loud knock on the door from the housekeeping lady. I told her that I couldn’t talk to her because my boyfriend was on important call and closed the door. 11.15 am - another loud knock from the housekeeping guy. (At that time I just got out of the shower and had to open the door while wrapped in a towel!). Note, I’m a very chill person and it’s really hard to piss me off. But this time I was upset and I told the poor guy (he had no idea of course that we had a late check out) that they need to stop knocking on the door. Then, around 11.50 that lady that knocked the first time came back and knocked again!! This time she was rude and said that she called the front desk and they didn’t have any information on the late check out. Unbelievable. How about the front desk gives me a call before the housekeeping team tries to get in the room 3 times?!
While checking out at 12 pm, we requested to talk to the front desk manager. She just simply said that “there was a miscommunication and sorry” while being pretty skeptical that I requested a late checkout beforehand. I told her to look up the cameras, because none of the front desk people admitted that they talked to me. I’m pretty sure it was a woman with dark short hair who I spoke to.
If you stay at the resort and need to request a late check out, write down the names of front desk people as they don’t seem to take any responsibility for their actions. We are Hilton Honors members and most hotels don’t make an issue with the late check outs.

When our cruise was cancelled (pretty much as expected) we were searching for an alternative. Didn't want to spend hours in a car or fly so we narrowed the search to the Lake Geneva area. Booked a standard room in the main lodge. The lodge is a bit of a maze but not impossible to figure out or navigate. If the weather was better the best course is to head outside and avoid all the changes in levels when you're headed to the lobby and pools. Room was marked with an unbroken seal to indicate it had been thoroughly cleaned and it was from all appearances. Quickly found out that housekeeping services were not an option due to the pandemic, but pretty much whatever we needed could be obtained through guest services and were delivered to the room promptly. Hope these services are restored as soon as they can be safely restored. Don't usually dine in hotels so other then knowing the hotel has several venues, can't comment on restaurants. Hotel is minutes away from the shops, restaurants and crowds in town in a beautiful country setting. Hope to visit again when the hotel is restored to the full services eliminated due to the virus. One final comment. On the day of checkout, it seems the housekeeping staff was anxious to have access to the room even though checkout is 11:00am. Probably due to staffing shortages which seem to be everywhere and the need to prepare the room for the incoming weekend guests. We were prepared to leave in advance anyway so this was not a big issue. Just something to be aware of in case anyone prefers to linger.

First off, we had a wonderful time. The grounds are beautiful, the pool was absolutely wonderful even in spite of the 2 hour window we had due to capacity limitations. It is one of the few hotels in Lake Geneva that has instituted some precautions. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. If you are expecting a room similar to the Peninsula Hotel, check you expectations. The rooms are a bit dated and could use a refresh, especially carpeting and some of the fixtures. Our room was fine in general. Given the lower occupancy, we would have expected a little more attention to detail in the room cleaning. Now, I do not think you can get COVID from all the surfaces in a hotel room, so that's not the concern. We found someone's belt under the desk, which was very obvious, but not picked up by housekeeping staff. There was also a child's sock on the floor in the closet. Big deal? Not really, but given that rooms are not being serviced during normal occupancy, one would expect that once guests check-out, that room undergoes a DEEP cleaning. So, not too much of a ding, but definitely an easy improvement.

On the positive side for the rooms, they have a mirror hidden TV in the bathroom and refrigerators and safes in the rooms. Down side... the double beds were not comfortable, the tub finish was actually separating and they were not allowed to give us glasses (not sure why that's a Covid thing).

I took advantage of a great deal on your website for one night stay that included 2 lift tickets, 1/2 off ski rental, and a discount at the spa as a gift to my daughter for Christmas. The rooms are great, skiing is right there near the hotel, pool and hot tub, went into Lake Geneva for Pizza and spa day the next morning. Only 45 minutes from home in Illinois. We will definitely do this again & highly recommend!
