Tucked between the buzzing downtown stores and a quiet nature preserve, The Mill Creek Hotel was born. Starting off as the hidden gem of hospitality our reputation has steadily grown over the years. We’ve helped people, couples, and businesses create perfect vacations, ultimate lodgings, and amazing experiences. We built the all-suite hotel with you in mind. That’s why we have an underground parking garage. You’ll always have a spot no matter what event is going on. Take the elevator right up to our lobby and have a freshly baked cookie while you check in. Greet the 68-degree room, drop your luggage and head out to your balcony overlooking the nature preserve. We’ve planned all the little details, so you don’t have to. A boutique hotel made for the serious traveler.

The Mill Creek Hotel earns high marks for its amenities, with many guests appreciating the jacuzzis and fireplaces that add a touch of romance to the clean, well-appointed rooms. While the service is generally celebrated for its attentiveness and personal touches, a few guests suggest there's room to enhance the experience. Its central location near the lake is a hit for ease of access to local sights.
Opinions on value are mixed; some rave about the cost-effective pricing, including breakfast, whereas others have faced issues with pricing and refunds. Overall, the cozy and welcoming atmosphere, coupled with consistent cleanliness, makes it a favored choice for couples seeking a charming getaway.

We stay here every Winterfest , nice rooms with kitchens, whirlpool tub and fireplace. This year we were greeted with a welcome bag, awesome flower towel display on bed with chocolates. The old continental breakfast has been replaced with a hot breakfast , breakfast burrito, scrambled eggs, pancakes and bacon! Great location, has on site parking so you never need to drive because it is right there in town, just a walk away from Main Street one way and other right by lake.

I would not seek out a boutique hotel - but this was a holiday weekend and the chain hotels were booked well in advance. So even though we chose a hotel where we couldn’t use any loyalty ‘points’ I was impressed with this place. Great location, rooms larger than I expected with a kitchenette! There were ‘origami’ towels and roses in our room along with a ‘gift bag’ (snacks and water). I get it - it’s expensive - but I didn’t have to pay extra for parking and song with a ‘free’ (actually decent) hot breakfast I’m convinced it was worth it. The lobby provides coffee, tea, and hot soup (actually decent) available for much of the day! And the front desk could not be more accommodating. The only issues were the air conditioners were separate (but effective) wall units and noise from traffic would discourage opening windows to take advantage of for cool lake breezes, but then again it’s located right downtown.

The Mill Creek was recommended by a friend and for the price you get a lot of amenities. We had a room with a bedroom separate from the living area, small kitchen, huge bath with whirlpool tub, balcony (which we actually enjoyed in mid December). The staff were very friendly. Our room was very clean, had a fireplace, just overall very cozy. And a breakfast was included too.

We WOULD have been repeat guests this past week for 2 evenings. First, positives...amazing location with downtown and lake proximity. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Front desk staff always warm and friendly on phone and in person. But BEWARE of their Covid 19 non refundable 14 day policy and their name calling manager/owner. We had to cancel due to family illness and Covid 19, 7 days before we were to arrive. Front staff was amazing with what they were able to tell us, and left multiple messages for the manager/owner to call us back. She never did. We continued to call. They continued to leave messages. Finally the manager/owner TEXTED and the dialogue went to her go to ammo (if you read any of the non 5/5 star reviews below) and called us liars, bitter customers and told us to find a new hotel to stay at from here on out as we were not welcome and, “good luck trying to find someone to rent to you”. Same verbiage as the reviews below. Even when we were told (in email and text) we could not stay there, she still refused to refund our money. She never picked up the phone to talk to us. Clearly she cares more about profit over guest safety and hospitality in these scary and unknown times. She proved in her writings that being a professional in the hospitality department is not what she stands for. I offered suggestions to help us both out. One night to be refunded and the next night pushed to 2021 to get us back. She would not even respond to that suggestion. Mill creek needs to find a new manager/owner with her lack of communication, professionalism and simple kindness. Name calling will never be good for business. When they get her out of there, we will be back to enjoy our favorite hotel and make many more memories in the future. For now, go to their neighboring hotels with the same location and they will accommodate you during this pandemic and illness with a 3 day cancellation with full refund...and no questions or name calling. I’ll wait for her response below from my review and more unprofessionalism and name calling for you all to read.

Response from Milah Petersen, General Manager at Mill Creek Hotel

We appreciate your review. When you call an Owner/General Manager "STUPID" and will see me in court to get your refund, and all kinds of excuses you can find to cancel, yes, I will have to stand up for the hotel, myself and my staff. You're not very friendly with an opening of a LAWSUIT if we don't give your money back. Our New cancellation policy is in front of you and still insist that you never seen it when it was mentioned with the confirmation letter that was sent to you. And yet denying that never seen it. Your wife had to threatened me of harassment on my cellphone if I don't refund your money back. You both got the nerves to try so hard, cancer of somebody. Why not mentioned how you verbally abused a 19 year old staff AND YELL AT HER TO THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS OVER THE PHONE WHERE EVERYONE IN THE OFFICE CAN HEAR YOUR VOICE FROM THE HANDSET to get your way about your cancellation as well. Abusive languages throwing on our face through your email. Then, send your friend to stay with us, or sold it maybe to get your money back, I bet they had a great time. We will defend our hotel to anyone who is trying to trash us in public because you made a mistake and doesn't understand the word of cancellation policy is a binding contract, that we have to do for everyone else. We definitely don't want to have a guest like you. We worked very hard to maintain our hotel for all our guest to have an enjoyable getaway. Please stay away from our business. This Owner/General Manager that you're trashing also have the right to respond to an abusive emails and text messages from you and your wife and will do anything to get your refund and who doesn't tell the public your side of the story. Good luck finding a hotel of your choice but please don't come to us. its a guest choice where they want to go, you are unhappy and blaming other people. This is not a forum, to ask anyone about how unhappy you are sitting and your home and have nothing to do. Business is business, nothing personal. Life is too short and, use your time wisely. Thank you. Milah Petersen

When I booked the room I was told I could get a refund if I cancel a week in advance. We decided to cancel (well in advance) after learning they don't have an outdoor pool, they charged $35 per room "admin fees" or $70 even though I canceled before the deadline date.
$70 for what? They will NEVER get our business. I asked Lizzie if I could speak to the manager and she replied "he only works weekends????"
How do you manage a hotel by working 2 days a week? So I sent the manager several emails which he did not even have the courtesy to reply.
Find somewhere else to stay where they care about customers,

Gerry, Thank you for your full of lies review but we appreciate it. If you travel once every 10 years in Lake Geneva, you are being left behind and you're obviously never step foot into our hotel. When a prospective guest like yourself become bitter with how we run our hotel which you have no knowledge about because you cancelled your stay after given all your money back; no hotel will have a General Manager to greet you by the door, I will definitely wanted to know where you go that does that, I will personally be their next guest in line. There will be no hotel without a General Manager as I am an Owner as well and we do know how our business operates more than you. I am sure no one of our community hotel would like you to stay in theirs, so good luck finding the best that suits your needs. My staff will stay no matter what you say because I know them well and she's one of the best and all of my Front Desk Agents are all educated and well trained and priceless. Thank you. Milah Petersen, Owner/General Manager.

Overall had a nice stay. Reasonably priced, rooms are BIG and well appointed, staff is friendly and accommodating. Park your car in their parking garage and leave it there because you can walk to everything in downtown Lake Geneva from the hotel. Common areas, (hallways, pool area), could have used a little more detail to cleaning, but other than that, everything else was fine. Plus, you can't beat a free hot breakfast! As long as their prices stay reasonable, we'll definitely stay their again.

Quaint property in the center of town. Nice little touches like cookies and a 24-hour coffee bar at the front desk, and a "Thank You" welcome bag waiting in the room. However, we were in Room 304, which faced the corner of Center and Main. Very busy and very loud, particularly with motorcycles visiting the Lake Geneva Harley store across the street. Our "Silver Suite" room was supposed to have a separate bedroom (with a door) but it was just an alcove in the main room -- awkward because we were staying with our teenage daughter. We got in late but otherwise would have requested a room change to a room that matched the description of what we reserved. Very cramped and crowded, unlike the photos on the website of the Silver Suites. We returned one evening after a wedding and could find no parking underneath, so parked on the street and received a ticket. We advised hotel management of this and their response was that we should have parked in a handicapped spot in their garage. (We are not handicapped.) We liked the staff and enjoyed the little touches found throughout the room, but were frustrated by the room and the parking situation. We were on a tight schedule or would otherwise certainly have spoken to management at length about it. We just chalked it up to "life happens." Note: Make sure to ask for a room that overlooks the creek or the nature preserve, instead of the post office next door that woke us up on Sunday at 6 a.m. with trucks and deliveries.

We love staying at this hotel. The suites are very large, well furnished and extremely comfortable. The housekeepers add their own personal touches to the room to make it feel more like home. As soon as you walk in the door at check in you feel welcome. They offer complimentary hot soups, hot chocolate, water, cookies, and candy for the guests - help yourself to whatever you like!. Beds and pillows are very comfortable and the breakfast offers several selections - you will not walk away hungry! The hotel is located a block away from downtown shopping and restaurants and Lake Geneva is just a couple of blocks. Just the relaxing trip we were looking for!

Mill Creek Hotel came highly recommended by a friend who stayed there 4 times prior to Covid 2020. Upon check-in we were gifted a bottle of wine which was appreciated. We were charged $100 than the 2023 web page stated price of the room. The lobby was cluttered and small which made it difficult to navigate a luggage trolley into the elevator. The stairwell from the third floor to the first was used as storage which presented potential blockage in case of an emergency. We were told checkout time would be 9:00 am because the room needed to be cleaned for the next guests although posted check-out time is noon. The Jacuzzi tub and shower was plugged and backed up with black sludge and long black hair that would not drain. Several hours after reporting the problem, at 9:00 pm a plumber appeared. At checkout, we asked for a bill adjustment for the inconvenience and management accused us of deliberately plugging the drain in order to receive a discount. None of us has long black hair. We were treated with hostility and negativity. We paid our bill in full and will not return under present management. There are several lovely hotels in the Lake Geneva area to choose from. Unfortunately, Mill Creek Hotel is presently not one of them. It no longer lives up to its previous reputation.

If you’re disappointed? So are we, 3 elderly womens looking for an adventure, instead pick our hotel asking for a refund. Each and one of you flirting with our front desk agent and when he didn’t respond to your every demands, you all get upset. The tub drain was half opened and one of you decided to go in our housekeeping closet and find a plunger and start using in our tub which is considered as a destruction of our property and you succeeded as you broke the drain. After all the things you had done on the property, got the nerved to continue to insist to get a refund. I’m sure you can read and see that it is a fire extinguisher next to the elevator. Any dumb person can figure that out except you that needs a label. None of you reviews makes sense, swearing as you left the premises and threatened to write a bad review and. Weird how people like you don’t get around very much and thinking that this era is still 1980’s that creating a fuss and get a free room. There’s nothing wrong about our breakfast food and how many times each and one of you helping yourself with soup, cookies and all because you can’t afford to go out for dinner and breakfast and still unhappy. You should’ve stayed home. You should all be ashamed of yourself for what you had done in a hotel and maybe every hotel you go to and do the same thing. Life is too short to pull an act like that specially at your ages. This is like our hotel can write a book with a guest like the 3 women’s thinking you can take advantage of anyone and when you didn’t get what you came there for, you get upset. Thanks for your review and please stay somewhere else.

I spent one night at the Mill Creek hotel for a quick, "mama needs some time to herself" getaway and wish I would have booked two nights. It is quirky in all the best ways - faux flowers and plants literally everywhere, everything is decorated or has lights or is whimsical to make you feel like you're somewhere else. The staff is attentive, kind and polite. The attention to detail is the best I have seen, especially when every other hotel has reduced their amenities.
Each room has a fireplace and a large whirlpool tub, along with ample living space.
The location is perfect - right at the lake, a block from Main Street and walking distance to many shops & restaurants.
I would hands down stay here for my next visit to Lake Geneva.
