We absolutely loved the Kickapoo Valley Ranch! First of all, the location is gorgeous. Set in a river valley with Amish buggies going by, with all of the fall colors -- it was beautiful. Cowboy Joe was an instant friend, and his chocolate chip walnut cookies were the BEST! The cabin was comfortable, spotlessly clean and just so beautiful and cozy. We loved the potbelly stove and the king size bed. We are looking forward to going back someday very soon. Thanks for creating such a beautiful place to stay!
We stayed in the Whitetail Cabin - it was perfect! Very clean and all the essentials were provided! This was our first stay in October, 2019. We found it to be VERY RELAXING and a weekend away like no other! No hotel doors slamming, no hearing other showers running..........just peace and quiet! It was rainy and cool when we were there but we were still able to sit on the back covered porch and just enjoy the peacefulness of the outdoors and the horses grazing! I agree with someone's comment...If you're looking for a place to get away from EVERYTHING and just BREATHE, then this is the place for you! We are hoping to come back in the Summer to enjoy some of the outdoor activities in the area! And by the way....................the cookies are AMAZING!
We have been to Kickapoo Valley Ranch 4 times in the last 5 years and absolutely LOVE IT! We like to hike in the summer/fall and snowshoe or XC ski in the winter. No matter what time of year, KVR is spectacular! The views, the beds, the peace and quiet, and the COOKIES!! We bring most of our meals to heat up or cook in our cabin, and then head into Viroqua for the most amazing Farm to Table dinner that includes a large slice of Cowboy Joe and David's cake. The driving through the organic farmlands is slow and relaxing taking us to a different world. The cabins are well stocked with amenities. Bring a book, camera, binocs, drawing pad and pencils, and relax by the fire. Just don't tell anyone and we'll keep it our secret, OK?
My Fiance and I booked a weekend stay at this ranch in OCTOBER 2018 (didn't have the option to select the month of October). I just happened to look back at the photos and remembered what an amazing time we had and just had to write a review. Cowboy Joe is amazing (so are the cookies!) and was truly helpful in providing us with different activities to do and places to go during our stay. He unfortunately had to leave while we were staying for the weekend but gave us his phone number and plenty of information in case of an emergency! He made sure we were taken care of! My advice, I would recommend the white-tail cabin (the room was spotless! And heated up when we got there!). It is located right in the middle and you have a breathtaking view out on the balcony. If you are expecting to be on vacation and still be able to use your phone, i wouldn't recommend staying here. There is barely any reception and we even had some trouble finding the place through our GPS, but it was all well worth it in the end. If you're looking for a place to get away from EVERYTHING and just BREATHE, then this is the place for you!…
I returned this past weekend with my wife for our second anniversary. It is as if nothing has changed since my first visit (13 years ago) with my family. I am honored to now share this sacred place with my spouse. We spent three nights in Slick's Joint and were amazed at the comfort, peace, and tranquility that once again enveloped the entire property. We woke in the morning to horses grazing just outside our porch, spent our days enjoying the surrounding areas and trying local eateries. Cowboy Joe and David are excellent hosts who go out of their way to ensure you are satisfied. Thank you for the opportunity to visit again. We will return soon.
