My wife & I spent the long Labor Day weekend in Kohler, staying at the Carriage House. Heather was extremely helpful in booking the room, golf & dining. This is a terrific resort and we enjoyed every minute. We celebrated our anniversary dinner in the Wisconsin Room, which was excellent, but our most memorable dinner was the previous evening, dining al fresco at Whistling Straits. Spectacular view over the 18th hole of the Straits course to Lake Michigan. We enjoyed our rounds at the Meadows Valley course and the truly excellent River Course. The resort was extremely conscientious about Covid precautions and we felt as safe as we could be anywhere these days. Having breakfast and happy hour refreshments delivered to the room was certainly different than going downstairs, but a good compromise. This was my fourth visit to The American Club and I would recommend it to anyone!

My wife and I returned despite the virus. We were getting stir crazy and knew the American Club would do it up right. Strict on masks and hand sanitizers everywhere plus social distancing. Likes: Large room(#114) with a bath, shower, couch, desk and easy chair. Very accommodating staff for every need...more soap and towels, dinner reservations, room cleaning and turndown. Greenhouse is a lovely spot for a low key coffee and roll for a light breakfast. The gardens are gorgeous and a wonderful spot for coffee or a glass of wine. Dislikes: The HVAC System was a little loud. The bath tub is difficult to get out of. Good to Know: 4 World Class golf courses. Lino’s Ristorante is a nice alternative to eating at the hotel and Schwarz’s in St Anna is a really fun supper club but get there early.

We celebrated our 10th anniversary in the Eau de Vie Suite at the American Club. We had originally planned a trip to France, but because of covid, we ended up in Wisconsin and it couldn't have been more wonderful. The room is truly divine with a beautiful fireplace and a spa tub like none we've ever seen--filling from the ceiling and with heaters to keep the water the perfect temperature during your soak. We had wonderful outdoor meals at Whistling Straights and Black Wolf Run, including an after dinner drink by a gorgeous firepit at Black Wolf. Both settings were exceptional and the service was impeccable. When we arrived there was a booking problem with our Suite, which was unfortunate, but Kelsey managed it professionally, moving us to the Presidential Suite for one night and comping several of our expenses. What could have been a gigantic disappointment, left us feeling incredibly positive about the management team at The American Club. Regarding coronavirus precautions, we found the hotel staff to be diligent about masking, the rooms to be cleaned and sealed, and hand sanitizer available everywhere. We felt very safe during our stay.

While I completely understand that this is a difficult time due to the ongoing pandemic, we were incredibly disappointed in the service at the Carriage House. One of the main reasons to stay at the Carriage House is the convenience/service of the included breakfast and evening snacks. Our family was truly shocked with the food offering during our 9 day stay. The breakfast menu was the same every day and included only three options. The vegetarian option (chickpea frittata) was truly inedible. Even worse was the evening snacks was a prepackaged store bought package of cheese and salami. Again there was no variation in this and each night we were brought this pre-packaged store-bought item. During this time, room service was available so there was truly no reason why the kitchen could not have carefully prepared a cheese/cracker platter or edible breakfast. If the food service was to be so significantly modified and poor - i would have expected the hotel to modify the incredibly high room charge to account for this change. I would not recommend that someone risk travel during the pandemic to stay at the American Club.

Staying there now . The only restaurant is full and even though we are staying at the resort they say they are full . Unbelievable they let other guests in but not hotel guests . They said they would not take reservations but now are full
