Our contemporary, yet classic full-service hotel features 80 stunning guest rooms and suites with comfortable amenities, a café, supper club-inspired restaurant, and seasonal rooftop bar. We stayed for one night as a couples getaway because we were curious about the renovation. First of all, The Stella is beautiful! The renovations on the main building are superb and very "boutique", and the addition of hotel rooms fits beautifully into the space. The rooms are very spacious and very comfortable. Everything in the room was well maintained. My only complaint about the room is that the bed was VERY firm, and the pillows were also very thick and firm as well. It would be nice to have a mix of soft and firm pillows to cater to each customer's preference. The shower was AMAZING! Great pressure and the water stayed hot.
There were a few weird things that are worth reporting. Housekeeping was vacuuming outside of our room at 9 o'clock at night. I thought that was extremely weird, at a time when people are starting to wind down and go to sleep. I called the front desk, and they didn't seem concerned at all. She said they could have them stop, but honestly a that point, it was not worth the hassle. The room gets pitch black at night thanks to the great design of the pull down shades, however there's a flashing bright white light right over the bed (fire/smoke detector?) that goes off throughout the night at regular intervals. A little annoying, especially when you're not sleeping well anyway due to hard bed.
We did not try the restaraunt, but wanted to try the cafe in the morning, but they did not have our favorite beverage in stock so we passed. Was disappointed that the "happy hour" deal that was advertised at the front desk was not being offered until the following week, so we did not stay for drinks during the evening. The tap was not working anyway so we couldn't get the drafts we would have ordered. We ended up going to a local place for drinks and out meal.
The location is good. It's in an up and coming area, being revitalized by micro-brews, good restaurants, and fun shops. It's going to take a few more years for the downtown area to get there, but there's potential and the Stella is in a great location to take advantage of the local growth.
Overall, I enjoyed the stay and the facilities. Just a few things that did not impress me, but could be easily remedied. I would recommend it to others.

I stayed solo for one night in late June. I was surprised that the person who met me at the front desk was not wearing a mask, but it might be a sign of the changing times. My room was very clean, classy and a place where I would like to spend more time. The person cleaning the rooms was wearing a mask. The hotel was not busy while I was there and the rate was fantastic. It’s an easy walk from The Stella to the waterfront/ marina area. I am hoping to come back for a long weekend at some point in the future.

To me, the hotel is a mix of vintage class, urban decor and comfort in one place! I observed all ages enjoying their stay at the hotel. Whether one night or three for a getaway, you won't be disappointed !
We booked the Stella House as a one night getaway. The location is only 1 hour and 20 minutes from the western suburbs of Chicago.
The hotel, staff, restaurant and location were perfect. Even with a briskness to the air, we were able to enjoy some of the downtown establishments and waterfront. The downtown provides stops for craft beers, wine, neighborhood waterholes and waterfront dining. We did not hit the shops but I did notice storefronts that looked inviting. We do not have children but in the warmer times there are activities and park dunes to explore. There is a Civil War and History Museum in the area that we will explore during our next trip to the Stella House.
Rooms are spacious, sleek in design and comfortable for relaxation.
The restaurant, bar, and kitchen cafe were spacious, inviting and tastefully decorated. We are looking forward to bringing family so we can enjoy the outdoor veranda and roof top social area.
Tonya in housekeeping was helpful in making our departure smooth. Thank you !
P.S. I checked out the banquet room for banquet planning and it is picture perfect for a special occasion.

Was in Kenosha to visit family. Our daughter recommended the Stella as it was nice and was walking distance from her house. Unfortunately, their reservation system was being updated and there were issues registering there. After many calls to try, we actually reserved a hotel about 20 minutes out of town, just in case. Luckily, the day before our arrival we checked and we did have a room.
Getting past the reservation issues (which the staff was very apologetic for) our stay was very good. The room was clean and well kept and the staff was great. The hotel is in the downtown area and walkable to many restaurants, shops and two museums. I'd definitely stay here again next time we're in the area.
Would have given an excellent review but for 2 things - the reservation mess (which was to have been corrected within a couple weeks) and the fact that there was no room service during our stay. If we needed it we would need to specifically request it. While I understand staffing and budgetary issues, usually there will be some level of room service, even if it's to check trash and make sure the bathrooms are properly stocked with soap, etc.

We are originally from Kenosha and have seen this property overgo renovations for 30+ years. I must say they finally got it right. The rooms are small but confortable, just a pictured. The beds are comfortable and everything you need in a hotel room is at your fingertips. If there is a downside it is that it surrounds an alley where the trash bins are kept and on garbage day it gets pretty noisey early in the morning. Would stay her again.

A really fantastic hotel. I stayed here for work at a time when they were very busy. All the staff without exception were charming, polite and seemed genuinely happy to help. It’s clearly a very well managed place. The manager himself was happy to roll on our reservation when we were unsure when we would leave. The food was exceptional both in the cafe and the restaurant and reasonably priced too. A top hotel. Thanks very much to everyone.

Words cannot express enough how amazing our wedding turned out to be. From day one the vibe and staff at the stella made everything so humble and easy to work with. Jordyn and Tiffany were so kind and patient with every little detail we asked for! They made our day come together better than we could ever imagine. The food and service was amazing we got texts the next day asking where they could buy the salad dressing. I would recommend them over and over again!

We were in Kenosha for a funeral. E booked the Stella on Monday for 2 nights. The funeral dinner was in the Stella Ballroom. Everything was perfect. Special kudos to Ken at the front desk and Emmy the bartender. They were the top for us of all the staff. All service was special and they made us feel like valued guests with every interaction. Scoops the ice cream parlor was also great. It is easy to see why they have won best ice cream for 8 or more consecutive years. I felt completely safe in this neighborhood and walked around day into night without issue. Thank you Stella Hotel and your amazing team.

My wife and i stayed here one night over Christmas holiday. It is located in downtown Kenosha it is within walking distance to two breweries and numerous restaurants. Kinda retro urban rooms with nice amenities. Comfortable bed and pillows. We enjoyed are brief stay and will return on future trips to Kenosha.

This was an overnight but ended up being so much more. Service at every level was awesome. Check in, bartender, wait staff and management. Immaculate property and incredible rooms. Every aspect of the room was clearly a focus for this remodel. Great room! Bartender is A+ with drinks, suggestions and attention to patrons being perfectly balanced. The chef is amazing with food and appetizers. Unique and tasty! How is this perfectly located property not packed?
