In the late 1940's, the Rhineharts built cabins on Lake Everett in Northern Wisconsin, 40 miles south of Lake Superior. While times have changed, cabins have been updated, people come here for many of the same reasons they came here in the 1950's and 1960's...to connect with nature and to connect with each other in a beautiful setting. There are 13 cabins - 10 of the cabins are lakeside. All cabins have a kitchen, living room, bedrooms and a screened porch. A boat comes with the cabin rental. There are campfire pits throughout the grounds - we provide the firewood. Build a campfire, listen to the loons and gaze at the stars while the water makes a "lap, lap, lap" sound along the shore. The children of yesteryear continue to introduce their children and grandchildren to Delta Lodge. We welcome you to join us!

We have stayed at Delta Lodge during the winter for the last 4 years. We love the tranquility of the area with an abundance of cross country ski trails. During the winter they have 3 cabins available to rent. I say cabin but in reality we stayed in a 4 bedroom house, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen plus cookware, laundry and sauna. The cabin is heated by a gas wood stove that keeps the cabin toasty warm. You do have to bring all the towels needed as those are the only items not provided. There is not a TV but it is nice to unplug sometimes. Marilyn who manages the place was great to deal with. She is super helpful with local restaurants and activities. Don't forget to make a trip to Delta Diner about a half mile away and The Twin Gables cafe in Brule. There is a grocery store in Iron river about 20 minutes away. Dogs are welcome but there is a small additional charge. So in the winter months Sun to Thurs the price is 95 dollars a night. We added a Sat night and was charged 107 dollars. There are plenty of things to do if you don't ski. You can go hiking or snowshoeing but it seems you could just hike in boots as the trails seemed to be packed down pretty good. Try it you will love it!

My family booked lodge # 3, 4, 5, 12, 11 and 7 for a stay at Delta lodge in early June. The group ranged in age from toddlers up to my parents who are 81 years old. Every one of us absolutely loved our stay. We woke up to the gorgeous view over the peaceful lake each morning. Everyone had a blast swimming, kayaking, fishing (off the dock or from the rowboat), and going on peaceful walks in the woods. It was so much fun seeing some of the kids catch their very first fish, or try kayaking for the first time, and my parents loved sitting nearby and watching their family have so much fun together. When we needed anything we asked Marilyn, and she was always extremely accommodating, helpful and friendly. At night we enjoyed an evening of smores by the fire and lots of laughter. Each of the cabins was very clean and perfect for our needs, and being there felt like getting in touch with a simpler time where life is less hectic and families can gather and really get close to nature. We can't wait to come back. Thank you Marilyn, for always being willing to accommodate my constantly changing plans for how many cabins we needed to book, and always being so helpful.

The Delta Lodge is a great place to unwind and reset. It is a quiet Northwoods destination surrounded by miles of untouched nature, hiking trails, and many undeveloped lakes with excellent fishing opportunities.

My father and I look forward to returning to the resort for our annual fishing trip every May. He and other family members have been going to the Delta Lodge for 36 years, Four years ago, we started a new chapter, as we make our annual father/son trip. We always rent cabin 11, which overlooks beautiful Lake Everett.

The cabin is not fancy, but it is comfy, cozy and clean. The kitchenette includes everything you need to cook and be self sufficient while you are there. There are a number of good restaurants in the area, including the famous Delta Diner.

Although we spend much of our time away from the cabin, there is much to do right on site. Numerous boats, kayaks, and canoes are available for use near the beach area. Everett Lake is an ideal body of water to swim in, as the water is crystal clear, and I believe the entire lake is wake free. The scenery is beautiful; I would love to go up in the fall to see the colors. There is a pool table and other games to play within the Lodge area. Each cabin has its own fire pit and grill. The screened in porch is a great place to have a cup of coffee and read a book.

I would definitely recommend the Delta Lodge to anyone who wants a simple Northwoods vacation. My dad and I will continue to return every year to bond and hit the reset button. It will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Thanks Phil! You and your father represent a long line of trout fishermen who frequent the lodge in early spring, to fish the White River. Thanks for carrying on the tradition. Sincerely, Marilyn

We've stayed at Delta Lodge regularly since 2004, my spouse and I (and our Siberian Husky) started in Cabin #6. Since then, we've stayed in nearly all the cabins, from the smallest to the largest, fall, summer and spring, and each time has been special, enjoyable and relaxing. This is a true lakeside Northwoods family and dog-friendly cabin experience. The cabins are clean and cozy, with soft beds and plenty of hot water, extra chairs, easy to use fireplaces and storage spaces, outlets etc. But they ARE cabins: you bring your own food, beverages, towels and entertainment. Occasionally, Delta gets nit-pickers who expect room or laundry service, or someone who fluffs your pillow or sweeps the cottonwood seeds off the porch screen while you're away. If you're like that, go find a B&B (and good luck finding one that will let your dogs come with). If you like to fish, kayak, cycle, walk/hike or just need a cozy home base while you explore Bayfield Country, Delta Lodge and its nearby neighbor, Delta Diner, are like home. It's a huge part of my family's recreational history and we'll always come back so long as we're able.

I have stayed at Delta Lodge many times over the last 18 years. My husband and I needed a get away on our anniversary 18 years ago. We were young and without much in resources. Delta's initial attraction was the affordable price. It is rustic, but clean, comfortable, and the kitchen is well stocked with pots/pans/silver and such. What we found and have continued to find over the years is that there is a peace that goes with being in nature and by the water. Marilyn has been a terrific host and we have been able to bring our dogs with us as well. The water front is well maintained and the water is clear. Kayaks, boats, and safety equipment is readily available and with firewood for sale on every business front you pass, Delta has always provided as much firewood as you can use for free as part of your stay. I have had wonderful stays in cabins 10 (my favorite), 7, and this year I was able to bring my daughter and her family with us to stay in cabin 12. The teenage girls loved having their own space in the loft, and my daughter who cannot be in the sun made much use of the screened in porch. It was the BEST visit ever as I was able to watch another generation of my family fall in love with my happy place. We have already booked cabins 10 and 8 for next year and plan to bring up my youngest daughter and her family. Cannot wait to get away to this place where I can completely unplug, unwind, and enjoy my husband and family without interruption or distraction. I hope you all love it as much as I do.

We rented the Hillside Cabin, which is our favorite, for the first week in March. Did some cross country skiing the first 3 days then it got warm and we switched over to hiking. The cabin sits up high on a ridge that overlooks the lake. Beautiful spot that is quite secluded. The firewood was furnished and we did some cooking over the open fire one day. Marilyn remembered we stayed before and always makes us feel at home. We will definitely be booking another stay!

The resort is not well maintained. The cabins were clean enough inside but the outsides were covered in cobwebs, spiders, moss etc. The screened in porch screens were covered in cotton wood that my husband had to clean to be able to see out of them. Every porch, door, Adirondack chair was in serious need of paint. The fire pit was very uncomfortable you had to sit on a 2x4. The grass was long and not maintained around the cabins or the lake. It is dog friendly but the dogs run around unleashed. We had 2 small dogs which were leashed for their safety. Her website is very misleading. It states their is an activity field it actually is one basketball hoop attached to an old telephone pole in gravel. We have very active kids but this was not useable. Also, the playground is a slide and swing set in need of repair and a much needed coat of paint. My family was so looking forward to this vacation. We drove 14 hours from Ohio and the purpose was to bury my parents who were Iron River residents. We were so disappointed and in talking with the locals they said they do not recommend Delta Lodge even to their families. Think twice before you book.

Response from Spinner Doc, Owner at Delta Lodge
Responded Jul 19, 2022
Sometimes it just doesn’t pay to chew through the restraints. It is hard for me to unbiasedly respond to Paula Jahn’s complaints as she departed after staying for a full week – without letting me know her complaints – and, without paying the balance due. I emailed and called. No response for 48 hours. The unpaid balance due was over $2000 – the group stayed in cabins #7 and #11. From her perspective price is negotiable – especially from a distance. Everyone else here at the same time expressed gratitude for the experience. Forty-five years ago I worked in a supper club on a lake. A couple who had ordered steaks objected to the bill. Nothing – not a crumb remained on the plates. I looked at them incredulously. My boss, Trish, had a “chat” with them and they paid. There are some comparisons. Note: I received 2 checks within a week of the Jahn's departure date. Is there room for improvement on the property? Yes. Like all cabins and cabin rental businesses in the greater Lake Superior basin, we battle the forest and the winter much of the time. We work on the interiors during the winter. We work on the exteriors in the spring – from late April through mid-June. There is much to do and not a huge amount of time to get everything “ready to go.” I believe our delayed maintenance items are fewer than most other cabin rental businesses. One of the reasons this job – owner/manager - means so much to me is that I see the physical and psychological benefit of rest and relaxation in the forest on this amazing lake, Lake Everett. People of diverse economic, educational and experiential backgrounds express to me, before departing, that being here has been meaningful to them. For many people these memories carry them through the year until they can return again. I recognize that this experience is not for everyone – Delta Lodge is best suited to people who love nature, love quiet and love water (and love dogs). Marilyn Einspanier Owner/Manager

My history with this magical Northwoods place started just about 25 years ago. My boys were young, and I was looking for an adventure vacation, as well as a little bit of peace. The lake, the provided toys and dock, allowed for a safe place for my young boys to learn to fish, kayak, swim, and appreciate nature and the Northwoods. The first night, I was cooking our dinner in Cabin 2, listening to the loons, and fell in love. My boys thought they would miss their video games that week. By the end, they didn't want to leave. Each cabin offers something unique, and depending on your needs and budget, all are comfortable and clean. It's a place to unwind and sit around a campfire, look up at the stars, not as much light pollution, and appreciate the Northwoods. I could go on, about the friendly owner and her helpers. I feel like a little family reunion when I come back. If you are expecting a 5 star hotel, this isn't the place for you, on purpose, yet these folks will do everything to make your Northwoods stay a good one.

I think we've found our new favorite annual family vacation spot!! As our family grew to 4 generations, places that we booked at over the years grew smaller, so this year was the first year we stayed at Delta Lodge. Our ages range from 81 years old to 14 months old, and there was something for everyone to do - no one got bored!! Some went swimming, some fished, some went out on the canoes and boat, hiking, we barbecued and visited around the campfire at night. One of my sons brought their guitar along, so we even enjoyed singing songs. My husband and I and our 3 sons and their families stayed in cabins #3, #7 and #11, and we even had room to spare!

Each year I take my family to Delta Lodge for a week. This year we stayed in cabin 11 which fit our family needs perfectly! We had plenty of room, plenty of peaceful areas to escape to and also nice areas to hang out in a group. There were a couple of days with some rain and wind so the screened in patio was amazing! The kids ages from 6-16 had daily blasts in the game room playing pool and putting puzzles together. We were able to see several turtles laying their eggs around the cabins which was a great experience! There are LOTS of kayaks and canoes, great areas to swim and fish so everyone has a great time. This is our 3rd year going and we are all excited to go again next year. Marilyn is always accommodating for anything we need! All in all GREAT experiences!!
